"It's ok," he told Taena, after looking around for any new monsters.
"Good," Taena panted, tired from carrying her sister.
She dragged herself through the door, and, hearing a loud clang, looked back; the door was closed fast. "I hope this goes somewhere," she breathed, "because if it doesn't, then we are trapped here in this dirty hole."
Sukrae looked back. "It goes somewhere," he said, "it has to go somewhere."
They went on, truging down the corridor, their feet making a soft thumping noise on the dusty floor.
"Rest..... now," whispered Taena, slumping to the floor in exhaustion.
"I'm with you," Sukrae agreed, sitting down opposite her, "how's Teegan doing?" Taena looked at her twin.
"Not very good," she rasped, "we need to get out soon."
Then she got up, legs quivering slightly, "Let's go," she whispered fiercely, "we have to try."
Sukrae opened his eyes and looked up at her from where he lay on the floor.
"Alright," he told her, slowly standing up.
They kept going, making their way down the tunnel, Taena holding the seemingly lifeless body of Teegan.
"Something's up ahead!"
Sukrae broke into as near a run as he could manage.
"Taena come here! There's a light!"
Taena hurried to catch up, the light giving her new hope that they might escape.
She came closer, yes it was light, not the glowing yellow light of torches either; it was pale daylight and she nearly fainted from joy.
"Thank Saradomin," she whispered, walking down the corridor with the heavy weight of her sister in her arms, "thank Saradomin."
