CHAPTER THREE
“Mind explaining what that thing is?” Tyler whispered angrily at the secretary as he loaded his SAR-27.
“It all started several days ago when we spotted several space ships around Saturn. Our advanced telescopes were able to identify a logo present on the side of each ship. We suspected China or Russia and began a massive search of the internet and our intelligence databases to find this logo. We found a match, but in an extremely unlikely place. The logo belongs to the Black Knights, a hostile, mechanized army from a virtual reality game called RuneSpace. I think it’s completely insane, but the U.N. is actually holding hearings, discussing whether it’s possible that video game characters could have materialized in our world!”
Tyler froze, thinking it over. He had played RuneSpace; he and Josh had even fought Black Knights on a quest. The red flash must have been a laser from a device attached to the arm of the knight’s mechanized armor. That’s why the glass had remained intact; light passes through glass, but a strong laser can burn through light-absorbing materials.
Tyler turned to the other Guardsmen, “I don’t know the physics of how the Black Knights got here, but they explain everything that’s happened so far. Now, these knights have superior technology, but they are by no means invincible.”
