Yeah, it's a shame the old thread maxed before I actually finished the thing. But the rewrite should go FAR faster than the original, so you can read the whole new and improved story again.
I'll probably get far enough ahead where I feel comfortable adding a chapter a week and then start.
I want to have probably 5-8 chapters rewritten before I do that, though, so I have some safety room for exam weeks and stuff.

Just finished reading
really well done, Chuk. The back-and-forth between Aletayr and Salrina was really, incredibly well done - it seemed natural and believable, just enough awkward and adorable and, well, it was good.
On the flip side, the speech of the King and General was stilted. I struggle with dialog, too, but one thing that's been helping me lately is realizing that people don't talk in semicolons. They come naturally to a sophisticated writer, but natural sounding speech is never structured around them.
That's a pretty cheap cliffhanger. But, it is what it is. Certainly makes me interested for the continuation of Aletayr's story, which is all it has to do, I suppose
.
Oh, and I'm in the middle of Knife of Dreams. On track to be caught up by the time AMoL comes out!

Yeah, it'd be great if I were consistent enough to get some steady fans.
Cliffhanger? I didn't mean for anything to be a cliffhanger.
And yes, my struggles with believable dialogue continue day to day.
Glad to see you around and reading, though, Orbie!
Knife of Dreams'll leave you more than on track. Only two more to go, and they start getting fast again, like the first few.

It's not exactly a cliffhanger, but it's an almost cliché hook. I feel cliffhung, at least
.
And yes, I could already feel the pace starting to pick back up at the end of the last book. Ever since the cleansing of saidin, things really were dragging. Although that scene where everyone is in groups, fighting off the Forsaken while Shadar Logoth implodes was THE MOST EPIC THING EVER. I have no one to talk to WoT about IRL, so I just had to get that out. SO EPIIIIIIIIC. Using the bowl of winds was cool, but the cleansing of saidin was just beyond words.
I assume you've finished your re-read? Wish I had the time/stamina/inclination to get through the last three books and all of them over again before AMoL, but there's no way.

What made you feel cliffhung? Aletayr's father still being alive? Or the romantic part?
Last reread was before book 12, but not 13.
I'll start another one when I know AMoL's official release date. Take about two months to get through all of them.

It began more quietly than a whisper. Like a half imagined vision, it swept gently across calm ocean waters and beneath starry skies, nothing more than the breath of a god.

The rewrite is coming soon to a forum near you. Will you dare to peer within its pages?
