The part with the vines doesn't make sense. If it's Amelia she's trying to hit, she's shooting vines at thin air. Amelia isn't there with her; Annie can't see her. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

I'm not sure why you think "as fast as an elf" means "superhuman speed." Is that why you always make Annie a half elf? In most fantasy threads I've seen, elves are exceptionally agile but not superhuman, and your character isn't even a full elf.
