I suppose you could try crawling. But, I mean, have you ever tried crawling silently for long distances with a box on your back? Is that even possible?

I thought generic zombies generally didn't have sight, rather focusing on aural senses because apparently the eyes require a flowing bloodstream while the ears don't. Cue first character token death thanks to SOMEONE panicking after finding this out.

Does this mean the zombies in your thread can see, Lasky?

They can see, but like their ability to run it gets worse over time. By the time they are reduced to a stumbling walking corpse, they are also mostly blind. Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
