Sorry for being gone, work lately has been hectic. Before the end of my twelve-hour shift, I hit the ditch and got stuck; a bus driver called at 4.5 kilometer going down, the forest road snowy, sharply curved, downhill and narrow. At that moment I was at approximately 4.3 kilometer, going uphill, so had basically no time to find a pullout. I looked for a pullout but there were none nearby, so I was about to radio 'looking for a pullout' but the bus suddenly appeared around the corner, going much, much faster than you'd expect from a school bus going downhill a narrow curve of a forest road...during wintertime.
Anyways, we swerved away from each other with what little room there was, and there wasn't enough room for even two regular vehicles to be side by side at once. As he turned, the bus angling, I drove alongside the angled side of the bus until I had no choice but to drive in the ditch; the back corner of the bus whizzed past my truck. The bus driver (a guy from Quebec) performed his maneuver excellently literally in an eye blink's time, as we met in opposing halfway through the curve and had to react instantly. Only I ended up in the ditch so at least that's good. So, ya, I almost got smoked by a bus today ^.^
However, I lost my whole off-shift (all the extra stuff took nearly three hours total), due to waiting over an hour after the end of my shift to be picked up (I was not allowed to drive back to camp after being towed out the ditch by a passing worker), then having to take a drug and alcohol test, then having to do all the bureaucracy and reporting and answering questions over text messages as phones weren't working here.
