So when it comes to the economy, Trump didn't magically turn the economy around; He claimed credit for something Obama did, and it's not like that economy is good to begin with. People are still struggling with finding jobs immensely, rent costs, cost of living, food prices, all keep going up.

Literally everything Trump claims to have done "for the American people," is something Obama had achieved before him. Trump just claims the credit. Let's not forget how weak and ineffectual he is as a leader. He is a literal American version of the Roman Emperor Commodus.

Ever heard of him? No? Let me tell you a little bit about him.

Commodus was the Son of Marcus Aurellius. Born at the time of the Antonine Plague, which was raging throughout the empire at the time. I read reports that either the infant Commodus had contracted it during infancy, and I also read reports that his mother contracted it during pregnancy. At any rate the true tragedy is that the infant Commodus had survived the plague which had killed 30% of the Roman Population population in some areas.

From age 18, he was whoring with women (Trump-like behavior) Being neglectful of his duties (Trump-like behavior, just look at his golfing habit), and not really taking in the gravity of the situation that someday he was going to be emperor. Eventually in the year 180, Marcus Aurellius, Famed philosopher and emperor both, died, possibly from the antonine plague, (which may have been smallpox), and Commodus became emperor.

Commodus is regarded by many as the harbinger of the end of the great Pax Romana, a golden age of peace in the empire. Why? Throughout Rome's history prior to Commodus, it was understood that making your son your successor to the empire was generally ill-advised. Instead rulers looked around for potential successors that had proven themselves militarily, in legal affairs, etc.

Emperor Hadrian for example was chosen by Trajan as his successor because he had proven himself before the old Trajan in military, and political affairs. In reality Trajan may not have made Hadrian his successor, but his wife knew better, and it is possible that she forged his signature on a royal decree to make Hadrian successor after Trajan's death.

Commodus is a deviation from that norm, and as a result, political precedent was set for the next 1900 years of nepotism in royal families to come after the fall of the Empire. From here on out, emperors would choose their own sons as successors.

Among Commodus' most infamous quirks is that he wanted to be a gladiator, and so whenever he fancied killing some poor sod in the arena, he'd be given the best equipment, meanwhile the poor sod fighting against him would be given weapons that were on the verge of breaking, or completely broken and useless. It really is quite amusing (Also completely Trump-like)

Commudus, like Trump, today, was used by his advisors for their own political gain. One infamous advisor is Cleander. Originally two advisors impressed the young emperor with their loyalty, Cleander was one of them, but this wasn't enough for him, he wanted the other advisor out of the way, so he delayed him, at the Colloseum and murdered him during a day of festivities near the arena.

Cleander's downfall came amid messing with the grain dole coming in from Egypt. He took so much for himself and his cronies that the poor were literally starving to death in the streets. By this point, Commodus had survived an assassination attempt, and he went from doting emperor to a sulking, broody individual, leaving the actual running of the empire to Cleander, who deceived him.

One day while walking the streets, Cleander came across writing on the wall "Who is messing with the dole," the wall read another wall read thusly: "Cleander" Alarmed, he began walking

briskly back to the imperial palace, where people noticed Cleander, pointed at him, booed, threw stuff at him, and eventually chased him with a desire to rip him limb from limb. Cleander made it back to the Palace where, a crowd had gathered outside. Wanting to know what was going on, Commodus exited broody mode and went out to see what the ruckus was.

"Give us Cleander!" was what Commodus heard outside the walls. Wanting to know what was going on, he asked Cleander what the hell he had done. Cleander told the truth, of the lies, he had committed, of all the shady business he had been into. Commodus beheaded his erstwhile Praetorian Prefect, as well as his son.

Much like Commodus, Trump's advisors use him, and his position of power to enrich themselves, their wives, and their families. Proximity to power is power in itself. His advisors are given rich positions in government. Kellyanne Conwoman (Sorry I just had to do it) is White House Counsilor. Paula White is his personal pastor (A complete nutter, as well)

Trump has personal conversations with Franklin Graham, and his homophobic father, Billy Graham while he was alive.

---

The bottom line is that for me, it is time for this madness to end. America may be lacking the political intrigue of the Romans during their decline, but it's only going to get worse from here.

For Commodus, his end came at the blade of an Assassin (One less Templar in the world =P ), For Trump, who knows? He's going to need to pull off a Julius Caesar if he plans to stay in office after his probable second term. It'll keep him out of jail. Would be nice to see the Secret Service kick him off the White House lawn after his second term. =)

I dunno if this is an unpopular opinion, but a lot of anti-trump propaganda seem to use similies or metaphors in ways that make me wonder if the hatred is based on fact and policy, or a 4 year long rage Trump couldn't dispell even if he were the perfect president.

That's how I view it, anyway.

At the very least, American politics has been more fun since Trump took office. If nothing else, he's directing a great sitcom.

It's both. If Trump were to suddenly have an epiphany and change his authoritarian ways, he'd still have people telling him, "So remember when you wanted to be dictator?" or, "We still don't trust a wannabe dictator." And that child separation stunt at the border was beyond cruel. Regardless of the fact that it is working. He is getting the result he wants, but at the expense of America's reputation and integrity. As with individuals, a nation's integrity is vital. If other country's won't trust us, it will bite us in the butt in terms of trade deals, treaties, etc.

More and more Trump supporters should take a stand and tell him, " No this is not what we signed up for when we voted for you," Here's what I mean when I called " vast swaths of them 'morons'' They do nothing. They are so convinced that Trump infallible, that he is God-like. We literally fought a war against this kind of thinking. That is historical fact. Those ignorant, uncaring of history's outcomes are doomed to witness the same atrocities.

Regardless I wouldn't want to be on the side of anyone whom Trump and congress declare war on. That will get very ugly, very quickly. Pretty sure that Trump will want to nuke Iran if he went to war with them, or use chemical weapons, or biological weapons. Will be very nasty.

Definitely understanding of politics and history, Rainbow. I did indeed know about Commodus--not everything of course--but basically, anyone with too much power goes crazy, especially when they are narcissists. Commodus, Caligula, Nero, a string a horrible rulers, to name a few.

After all, what kind of person craves power over other human beings? Probably not a good person!

Ah yes, I found it very odd that many Trump supporters just don't seem to care about the gross things he's done. Hence the phrase 'Trump derangement syndrome' which to me sounds like a naysay to refuse arguing or addressing criticism. But oh well, Conservative Americans are very tribal, but this is not the end, it's the opening of a new beginning.

If Trump gets re-elected, I wouldn't be surprised if he got assassinated before the next election after that. I also suspect Bernie will get assassinated if he wins.

Oh, and as for anti-Trump propaganda, it's not quite as good as it could be. It's like we're treated as if stupid children and given storytime lecturing. But lawl, if I were in public media, I would use language that would probably get me me jail XD

Welcome, Annie, I hope life wasn't too crazy! Feel welcome to post anytime.

Azi: It seems that Erik is very prideful as a warrior, would he go through with self-mutilation in order to escape Castle Gern, or would he go about it in a different way? Self-mutilation is a self-depreciating act. Even in regards to survival. I'd rather be dead than have to cut off my own arm just to escape the clutches of an enemy.

I guess it kind of gives one an idea as to how twisted Vyras' mind has become that he'd be willing to wound himself and everyone around him just to escape the castle. Even if it is just a slash of the palm of the hand. If Erik wouldn't go through with the self-mutilation, what would he do? I get the impression that Sakura would go through with self mutilation. Is sort of a part of Samurai tradition, correct, or does that refer specifically to seppuku?

When push comes to shove, desperate people will do anything to survive - even if that means betraying eachother or self mutilation. To not even do that much is to show you aren't even trying.

Seppuku isn't a means of self mutilation, it's the act of taking one's own life by disembowlment, usually after committing an unforgivable act (like betraying ones lord or a great military defeat).
