Quick question, are we all prisoners to the vampires?
You and the other rpers are. Vyras (My character) is the poor old man who's going to throw out his stiff back to rescue you all from prison. Much to his chagrin.
Edit: Have fun creating this universe's version of Annie!

I mean, I think Annie raises a good point. I saw a D&D reference in there (regarding drow), and wonder where the similarities end. Will we use D&D classes as a base, and are magic and skills a finite resource? (ie. only being able to cast 4 level 1 spells before needing to rest).

Sorry I been Busy. Post is coming for omega
Edit: I posted on omega.
Edit 2: rainbow, how many powers can we have? Is half elf and half human allowed? Is their an age limit?
We are only following the D&D Lore for the drow, there the similarities end. You can use whatever class you like, spells are infinite uses. I didn't even think to clarify that up. I planned most things out but not that. The reason we are doing that is because I think it tedious to roll a dice, post what number you rolled into the rp and then write the outcome. It might then get into the territory of auto-hitting in certain situations if we did it that way.
Those are my thoughts, but it also muddies up the narrative a bit.
Naturally an elf and a human can procreate to produce a child, so yeah it is allowed. Such unions used to be taboo in the distant past, but that is the past. Elves and humans have largely reconciled their differences in the face of a common enemy.
Naturally then, your character can be any age between 16 and up. My character is 89, so you can be any age, Keep in mind natural life spans too. If you want a half human half elf hybrid for a character, your character's lifespan would be longer that that of a normal human

How common is magic as a general rule? That is to say, are people born with it, or is it something that anyone can learn? In the case of being born with it, are they born with tspecific types of magic or just 'magic' in general and can thereefore learn any magic type?
Also, on a dnd related note - how would you feel about a character wielding what's effectively radiant magic? I.E: Searing light.

It depends on your race. Among humans the rate is about 1 in 10, among dwarves, it's rarer to find mages due to their culture's stigma against the talent, the rate is about the same as n humans. Among Elves, the rate is much higher with the rate being about 1 of 3.
In Drow it is very common to find mages the rate being 1 out of every 2. Orcs don't typically tolerate mages in their strongholds but the rate is alarmingly low at around 1 in about every 30. Drugal have few mages on the surface but on the Skyherd Fleet there are around 2000 mages. The rate is about 1 out of every 4 for drugal.
Certain families end up being more magically talented than others. Magic is inherited from one's parents. However sometimes magical talent skips a generation and is found in the next generation. In most cases, mages end up learning their field of study from a mentor.
