More good points as usual, West, on last page. I certainly don't mind killing my characters, just never got the chance to do it much. I thought that maybe, since I like having a couple to several characters at once, that one randomly dies per serious fight/confrontation against a powerful foe.
Ah yes, exposition, saying rather than showing. I think that, in As Demons Weeping, I did have characters who were less expository. Inkeyes liked singing to herself, was weird-looking, immune to magic, was aware of fate yet appeared to try to get around it, and had her own personality. Kallistos, the phoenix-knight Inferi's character met (can't remember her name) was jumpy and fidgety, yet reliable and loyal. Luther Sting, the son of the cleric who killed the archer's (West's character?) mother, also had his own personality: greedy, wealthy, powerful, foolish, yet loyal and eager to do things. None of these characters had bios. Lesser characters, like the crazy bipolar man who somehow survived Chaos's realm, and even the fanatical beings, mechanical beings, and Bloody Mary the Penitent Martyr, who resided there, had their own individual goals and personalities as well. Perhaps all these were the reason As Demons Weeping got over 1k posts?
The main reason I stopped such elements was because I felt they dragged the RPing for too long, as I speculated that maybe RPs ahd to be more fast-paced, and the only way to maximise brevity would be to stay to the point, avoid thoughts, and keep going.
Hm, I often did have characters with certain mental problems, ranging from mild to severe. Griselda was pretty cruel but quiet and calm, whereas Octavius was a bit silly, ADHD-like, and loved putting on a show. However, their personalities didn't do much to actually progress the story.
In Omega, I did occasionally have chance-based occurrences that would potentially intro new characters or problems, or even change the entire direction of the RP, which did happen in Omega.
