It's a Dungeons and Dragons term.

You roll a twenty-sided die. Then you check what the associated stat is (in this case, strength), to determine what number gets added to the roll, so you go and add that. If the final number (dice roll + strength modifier) is higher than the minimum requirement for whatever you're doing, you succeed. If not, you fail.

We don't actually have stats, though, so it was just a joke.

At least Vanick’s disappointment could not be as bad as what Griselda did. Sarah nearly got a bottle to the face, Joric shoved someone down, and Aria’s magic did not seem to dissuade pubgoers from the fight.

Meanwhile, the punch into Octavius’ visor did hurt, as it bounced backwards against his nose, and caused him to rear a bit. Nevertheless, his attacker had it worse, obviously, and Octavius’ retaliation worked. Action escalated all around.

“Oh, mama mia! Mama mia!” He would have to forcefully make his way through the melee. He shoved, pauldron-bashed, palm-striked, and push kicked; hopefully, he did not hit the barrier-surrounded woman by accident. If all went well, he would make it out the tavern. Perhaps Annie and Aria would make it, too. The paladin and sailor over yonder, being farther away, may have a harder time, but only time would tell.

Oh, for f**k's sake...

Er, I mean, I was just looking for feedback!

Well, anyways, NotFishing, could I add two new bios for Ashlands? I think I just figured out my problem with 'not caring' about RPs I'm in. I realized I tend to focus my characters' interactions with other users based on if they are similar or relatable. Thus, one way to get around that, is to have lots of characters, so that at least one is much more likely to relate to someone else's character. But, me having seven bios total may be too much, so I'll wait. I found two cool Imgur images, one of this Hell Mary girl and a gladiator with a big war hammer, and I'd also have a Dwarf character who relates to Griselda's backstory and may be useful in regards to interaction with Joric. Overall, this extra diversity would allow me to maximise character interaction, thoughts, opinions, etc., but I'll wait, just in case.

Fair enough.
doubt anyone (at least of a humanoid size) would ever have a strength high enough to carry a sarcophagus on their own.

I'm going to say no, mainly because you already have more characters than everybody else combined. If you add more you would risk watering down the level of participation the other roleplayers can have in the story.
