This. The main reason I prefer anime over "real" tv shows is because the art just appeals to me more than the real people. It just feels like the types I want to watch feel like they fit better in that medium. Hunh, I never thought of that. Will have to keep these points in mind for, so thanks for sharing them, West and Inferi.

But ya, watching anime may not be the effect I’m looking for, but I might as well try, someday, sooner or later. An anime about basketball? That sounds rather boring.

You'd think that, but one of my favourite Anime's is actually a show about high-stakes highschool cooking battles. Anime does have a habit of taking the mundane and amping it up to 11 to make it interesting.
