I just wish Varric and that damn elf mage guy would stop running into melee. As much as I like Varric, I had to replace him the first chance I got...

Can't you modify party behavior? Have Varric and Solas stand back, then order Cassandra to protect one of them.

Also don't be hatin on my boi Solas.

DA2 had some feel to it that neither of the others had that I liked, but for the life of me I can't figure out what that was.

Maybe it had to do with the fact that it was all centered around one city? Instead of a chosen one, or humanity's last hope for survival, you were just the local hero who happened to be in the right place at the right time. Or wrong, depending on how you look at it.

Also, I've been playing Far Cry 5.

Faith's drug visions are trippy as hell.

And John Seed did nothing wrong.

I always laugh at fictionalized portrayals of drug use. They make it look so much different than it really is.

The first one has you walk through a field with her while she tells you a story. Then she grows butterfly wings and flies you to the top of a statue. Then she makes you jump off the statue, and you land in a waterfall, but that waterfall isn't actually there when you visit the statue later in person.

There's four overall.

Thing about Far Cry drugs is that it's not about realistic portrayals, it's about how they serve the story. They induce visions which have some sort of deep philosophical meaning or foreshadowing.

I don't know if you've played Far Cry 5. I would have suggest that you do, because one of the antagonists has quite literally established a group that I'm sure you will hate with fiery passion. The Church of Yes.

I haven't played it yet but it looks pretty good. I'll probably pick it up once I finally get around to upgrading my PC because it'd probably be a slideshow on my current set-up. Ironically I think I like the fishing part of the game more than everything else I've seen. I love me some fishing in any form. I'm the Pope of the Church of No. I am quite opposed to any Church of Yes.

But yeah, fictional drugs make more sense when people portray them as whatever they'd like them to be. But when people make an acid trip look like...I don't know, a bunch of pink elephants dancing around and what-not, it's kind of odd to me. I've taken a lot of acid in my day and never once saw any pink elephants. I've spoken to alien gods and been taken on their mothership across the universe but never saw any pink elephants.

It's a bit different from the other Far Cries because of how the story is structured. It's not based around which point you are at in a linear set of missions. The world is divided into three regions, and each one has its own boss (one of which is the guy who preaches about the Power of Yes, and another is the Trippy Drug Girl.)

Each region has its own Resistance stat, which can be filled by going through unique story missions, but you can also just ignore those missions and find other ways to boost it. Each region's story progresses as you fill the Resistance bar, and once it reaches a certain point an event occurs involving the antagonist for that region. Once the bar is completely filled, you finally get to confront them and deal with them.

I've never taken drugs, so I'm certainly not going to try to say the portrayal is accurate.

But it starts out happy and serene, and eventually starts to get dark.

Without spoiling anything, the main drug in this game (The Bliss) can also act as a form of mind control. It's not clear how it works, because everytime you see her use this 'mind control' ability, you are already tripping out quite heavily as well.

Also you get exposed to people who have consumed too much of the Bliss, and they are literally zombies.

Overall, I would say it actually looks more like magic than drugs, but because her region is so heavily drugged out (drugs in the air, water, plants, and animals) it's implied that you're regularly halucinating because of how much you are passively absorbing. Sometimes she will literally teleport to you, other times you will black out and suddenly be with her.
