One does not simply take a godly lover. Well, I mean, you could, but they have a tendancy to spend a night and leave (or leave you) with the bastard child. I mean, It's almost as though the gods are above monogamy or child support or something.

Depends actually.
They are sometimes non-biased on gender when it comes to abandoning kids. Goddesses have been known to leave children with their mortal fathers.
Plenty of situations where the god/goddess stayed with their mortal lover/spouse (at least till the mortal died or was elevated to low divinity as well)
Plenty of situations where if the kid was good enough at what they did, the god parent was
VERY
active in their life. Though it wasn't uncommon for the other parent to be dead by the time the kiddo took off adventuring, saving lives, or whatever it was bronze age cultures did and could master.

I can't recall any story that ends this way.
I'm no expert on the matter, however.
