You discard the soda seeping flaming board, where it lands just meters away. The fire attempts to reach for you, but seems to think better of it. You seem happier without it, dancing and eating cookies. The red tendrils retreated back into the brilliant orange embers, a charcoal black encroaching down edges of the wood. Discarded and alone, a final spark trickled down a splinter. This spark faded and died.

Anyhow, you're certainly right. If prisons have taught us anything at all, if we have no hope of controlling drugs and weapons and gambling inside their walls, which we don't, how the hell should law enforcement hope to curb the flow of these things in a country?

It's probably EASIER to get drugs in prison right now than it is anywhere else. I went to an old prison a couple times, it's not far from me, in Mansfield. It's the prison they filmed Shawshank Redemption at and a few other movies filmed there too. Anyhow, they had a little museum with glass cases containing some of the weapons inmates had crafted while in there. There were all sorts of elaborate shivs, bludgeons, tools and even a few guns or projectile-based weapons. It's pretty much a fact that no matter how stringent the guards are and how much they watch inmates, they're going to make or obtain weapons.

It serves as a pretty good example of how prohibition always fails. It didn't work in the 20s, it didn't work in the 60s, it didn't work in the 90s and it still doesn't work. All they've accomplished by making things illegal is allowing cartels, gangs and crime syndicates to make money hand-over-fist by providing a black market for things people want and will get anyway.

But yeah, people want to believe that it's going to work and that they can apply the same logic to guns in the US. Been thinking about getting a version of that flag that says 'Come and Take It' to hang outside my house, because if they do try to take anyone's firearms, it will not go well for them. To do that is political suicide though, and could very well start a civil war. There's a Pro 2A rally in D.C soon, and I'd like to attend but being unemployed I don't have much travel money.

Yes, guards can also be bribed to bring in items. The only way to you can prevent weapon-manufacturing, is to cut the hands, feet, and jaws off the prisoners, but that’s cruel.

Exactly. Where there are laws, black market thrives. Probation only works if the people are willing to change. Criminals don’t always want to change. Indeed, gun laws don’t stop criminals, they take away laws of citizens. Most criminals are not legal gun owners, thus it makes little sense to take away the rights of citizens. The only solution is to either have more cops and thus create an unwanted police state, thus increase the chance of oppression by police, or maximise the rights of citizens and allow them to shoot criminals dead for you, but that increases the chance of being oppressed by citizens. Either way, there are ups and downs, just like in everything else.
