I was toying around with the idea of using fighter game terminology - allowing players to create their own "basic attacks", "special moves" and "ultra moves".
Basic attacks are like your basic fighting form. Things like punches, throws, weapon strikes, ki blasts, etc.
Special attacks are attacks that drain your mana/energy guage in a game. These are like your Kamehame-hadoken's, superpowered attacks, etc.
Ultimate attacks are like finishers - that one ultra powerful final move you could probably only use once in a fight.
The problem is, it looked messy on the bio... so I ended up shelving the idea. Still, I think using skills would be more authentic than going with a generic "superpower" - after all, in any other area of human skill, practiced skills are faster and more natural when compared to freeform manipulation.
Ah, that's peculiar, three simple terms for addressing certain moves. Hm, yeah, it would look messy, but I think I'd be able to work things out.
Oh, this is a really good site, it has excellent terms that I will never memorize. A very good cheat sheet, so to speak. Quite a lot here, though, but it is definitely a useful way to describe your move, its intent, and what to expect of it.
A couple of weeks ago I looked on the forum and saw some new posts on into the fire but it looks like it isn't currently active, although I'll try to keep an eye on it just in case and maybe make a post if I can think of something to write, and see if there's any more interest in it.
If not, I might still lurk around here. Are there any RPs going on at the moment?
EDIT-what's this about a fighter rp? sounds interesting

I *kind of* have an idea for a roleplay, and this time it’s a simple concept!
Basically, the roleplay would be set in a modern scenario with ordinary people… who are given superpowers, a secret identity, a team, and a weird compulsion to kill the other team. That’s right, it’s a super powered
Team Deathmatch
scenario where
anyone can and probably will die
! There will be two teams – and for the game to end, one side must be entirely eliminated.
I intend to make the game a bit more difficult by encouraging you guys to play on both sides, and to make sure the game doesn't end too soon, I also intend to add a “respawn timer”. Of course, dead characters can and should remain dead, so instead a random citizen would receive the necessary superpowers in order to reinforce the losing team after an (in-game) week or so.
To spice things up, I’m also thinking about adding “demon raids” into the thread – every so often, Demons will attack and/or possess hapless citizens. Destroying said demons would result in demon cores, which fuel characters super powered abilities.
So, is this a workable concept, or am I drunk and in needing of a home?
EDIT: I'm not much of a welcoming committee, but welcome back Duncan and Wolfpack.
I figure Angel is bound to come back after I post a thread. He always does…

Hi West! I think that sounds like a really good idea actually, the setup would make it stand out in terms of playing the game and it would fuel conflict etc. in the story

I’m not sure Annie. I’ll have to do a lot of reading to get back into character and to figure out where we left off. Might just join one while I work on getting a new story line together.
