Peculiar points. But yes, children can influence adults, the theme of innocence, ignorance, and cuteness is especially strong for young girls (so long as there’s good writing). BioShock 1 and 2 are good examples, Little Sisters are just so adorable, innocent, and have such a lack of understanding, that I can never kill them in the game, I always save them. I love listening to them talk, too, “Six times two is... chicken!” they actually talk like kids.
As for children in these forums, it’s not an easy subject to work with. In my case, regarding Annie and London, I try to incorporate them with the RP, but there’s only so much you can do with young kids. However, if the kids were analogous to Little Sisters, for example, then all of a sudden, their importance, the bond they could create, expands greatly.
In my opinion, children in stories are irrelevant if you cannot feel like a parental figure for them. Invoke a maternal or paternal bond, and if you can’t, don’t bother with child characters. This is one reason that Wake Up is meant to take place over the course of a decade or so. I want us to grow up with the children, so that we feel like parents. For example, Link from Ocarina of Time, and Eleanor from BioShock 2, are two examples of child characters you grow up with. I wanted to try this method in Wake Up, but it will take time.
Hm, I also try to have phases in RPs, but never got to conclude the first phase. Wake Up is nearing the end of the first phase; just a chase scene with some action, retreat, and then the revolution begins.
