I agree 100% with you. I have never enjoyed reading his works or writing anything at all about them.

+1 from me.

While I can understand why the works of Shakespeare and many other classic writers are important and popular, I could just never really enjoy reading it. Perhaps it's because it is really a product of its time, but then again, I've had no problems reading writers from the 1800s up to the 1940s, and many of those works are often products of their time as well.

Never liked book reports either unless I was allowed to choose something I wanted to read and something I would like to write a report about.

Hell, I've always enjoyed even earlier works from men like Marcus Aurelius and works like Dante's Inferno. Or Sun Tzu, etc.
