When I started playing RuneScape, there weren't even any dinosaurs around.

Anyways, I noticed something that may be extremely important, something so important, that it may actually be the reason our RPs die: minimized number of characters. Basically, all users always only RP as a single character per RP, and whenever this happens, all threads involved always die.

Looking back at Into the Fire, users potentially had multiple characters, and I daresay that if Angel came back, we would all continue Into the Fire immediately. I can't believe I never thought of this sooner, but maybe if more users RPed as more characters, not only would it obviously increase the amount of characters and character interaction and possibilities, but make the RP more interesting. Each character is its own entity, so if more users had more characters per RP, it would rather give the illusion that there's more role-players.

Chris and Inferi, may I create one more bio for the RPs we're in to test my hypothesis?

I'm not going to stop you (or anyone for that matter) from making more characters, as long as you don't mind that I don't want a character to be separate from the main group.

I don't think that's the main reason for stuff dying, and with your primary example you didn't really account for something that ITF had that was different: multiple storylines. The only reason I had three characters was to have one in each storyline, and I'm pretty sure that was the case with everyone since I don't think anyone except Annie had more than one character in a single narrative. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Yes, I figured new characters should be part of the main group, or at least end up so sooner or later. But, I will wait for Chris's word before continuing, but I will try to get another bio up for APTtS and see what happens.

Multiple storylines, that's a good point, and after all, partaking in multiple different storylines is also a reason to create more characters. I never thought of that before, it's definitely something to think about. Also, Angel had multiple leader-like default characters per storyline. I will have to ponder about this and see what I can learn.
