That moment when you read a novel that implies humanity (and all other forms of humanoids on the planet) are basically giant plant monsters cursed to look and think like humanity by homestruck ascended humans. Only by removing this curse, killing their immortal human gods and trashing the planet to its origional state (barren wasteland) can they truely find the peace and happyness of home.

A pretty bleak ending for what was otherwise a cute lovestory about creating a home for child soldiers. Some writers can be damn brutal...

President Snow didn't make the Hunger Games, he inherited them. Infact, he probably would have been in diapers when they started.

Everything he did, I think, was just a tactical mindgame to prevent an armed uprising (and save lives on paper). District 13 shown the districts couldn't be trusted with arms (and those that were had to be treated as 1st class citizens so they would remain reliant on the capital), and some districts needed to be decidedly worse to make the capital's benefits all the more tempting.

If anything, Coin was the bigger bad. Snow was shown to have genuine awareness that he wouldn't have a powerbase if humanity went extinct due to his actions - while Coin would blunder ahead, scheme and kill everyone in her way en masse... even if they were "just following orders". She was a tyrant who used the pretence of the hunger games to her advantage.
