Hm, quite a lot of details to think about and work out, I don't think I'll be able to remember all of those. But, I will try to think of something. Indeed, the Flood, the Reapers, they are different, and have strenghts here and there.

As an update, I finished the next phase for Kestyr, Rem and Fishing's Halo characters, just started Annie's and Shirley's. After, I'll work on the Collector subplot. I should be able to finish everything soon, I hope, probably within a few hours at most.

And entirely unhelpful towards solving a hypothetical situation.

Well there's no accurate way to solve it.

Lets say the Flood WERE a threat. The Reapers flee and enter darkspace, wait another 50,000 years. What would await them?

If the Reapers flee, that means the Flood have won. The Flood will then travel to other galaxies and assimilate those. By the time the Reapers return, the Flood is even stronger.

They take existing life and morph it.

Morph, evolves, the term doesn't matter. The Flood forces a lifeform to rapidly change into a form that suits their needs, and develop new forms to deal with new enemies and problems. Where do you think Pure Forms came from?

Except, the Reapers can do the same. Only, they have the advantage of a physical and psychological assault to hasten the process along.

Implying that the Gravemind can be physically or psychologically abused.

Until they achieve sufficient biomass, they are a bioweapon. Not a faction.

Azi stated that the Flood are currently at the same point they were at in Halo 2, which means they have a Gravemind.

I just don’t think “it talked a captive AI into submission once” is a good enough reason to say a Reaper might be susceptible to such faults - especially since we know in-universe reapers have mind-control and hivemind control intercept capabilities.

That isn't the only example, though. I also provided about four others. It drove both Truth and the Didact insane. While captive and under study, it convinced Mendicant Bias, the most advanced Forerunner AI ever created, to switch sides. It even took over the Monitor of Installation 05. It also took over several unnamed Forerunner AIs.

Also, I don't know how the Rachni queen's Hive Mind words, but every being the Flood assimilates adds to the Gravemind's intelligence. It actively becomes smarter, stronger, and more knowledgeable everytime the Flood gains a new host. From what I'm reading about the Rachni, they don't sound anything like the Flood. What if the Gravemind's hold over the Flood is too powerful for the Reapers to break?

Again, we have no way of knowing.

Edit: Although, going back to our earlier debate on whether or not the Halos would kill the Reapers, I did some further reading and apparently the Halos killed any organic creature with a central nervous system. You said that Reapers are both organic and mechanical, right?

Edit2: Honestly, I'm skimming through all these various forums - Spacebattles, Who Would Win Subreddit, etc., and the general consensus seems to be the Reapers would lose when faced with most other Sci-Fi franchises, simply because factions from other franchises have much greater numbers and firepower compared to any ship in the Mass Effect universe. What's stopping the Flood, the Covenant, or even the UNSC from just destroying the Reapers before they can use their indoctrination?

The Warp's denizens would wreck both Gravemind and Reapers.

Unfortunately, this is probably correct.

Okay. Let’s say, hypothetically, the Flood convince the Reapers that the flood are correct – and can “save” sentient life without resorting to war with cybernetics (which is, ironically, their purpose). Whether or not the Gravemind is successful is an entirely moot point – because if the Gravemind retains proximity to a Reaper, he will eventually come to irreversibly covet it as a servant – no matter what the reaper itself might think or do.

Should it come to open warfare, I believe the Reapers take a highly scientific approach. Yes, they would obtain samples of the flood. Yes, they would indoctrinate it to serve their needs. Does this make Gravemind any less of a villain? No, but it’s just something the reapers would likely do.

I’m trying to stay faithful to both franchises when I say that a Gravemind shouldn’t take a Reaper lightly, and any attack should be made via a proxy - namely, organics.

Reapers are a force designed to make organics serve them, while the flood are a race that assimilates. These are the REAL factors we should consider.

EDIT: Most of these assumptions are made thinking the Reapers go "Hurr-Durr" through the SOL mass relay and begin an all out assault on Earth. The Reapers are more subtle than that.

If the Reapers truly saw the Gravemind and the Flood as a threat, what would be stopping them from taking an indoctrinated human and making them activate the Halos once they vanished into the safety of darkspace? There's no reason they should have to fight themselves if they can do the same thing the Gravemind can and act via proxy. Even if one or two of them needed to stay behind to escort said human to the control chamber, I don't see why that approach would be out of their reach.

Sure, it wouldn't solve the problem immediately, but, and correct me if I'm wrong, it would give a more immediate solution that would put them at a great advantage.
