Fishing,

1 Yes, Halos and The Great Journey are mentioned later in the thread. I don't know what Shield Worlds are tho, as I have not played beyond Halo 2, unfortunately.

2 I don't know enough about different Spartans; you can be any type you like. Ah, I had no idea Spartans were anti-rebel creations, I'll have to edit that part.

3 Yes, you could be the Arbiter; the Covenant is it's own minor storyline, so there's room for that. Presumably, there is no Arbiter, yet.

4 All Covenant races exist, so yes, there are also Grunts, Hunters, Brutes, Drones, etc. The reason I left out lots of info was because I was too lazy to include all of it I wanted to simplify everything, so ya...

Overall, the Covenant and Halo franchise in the RP is based mostly of Halo 2. Additional content from further titles are also acceptable, BUT, since I am lacking in the lore beyond Halo 2, it may mean more content for you to work with. Of course, me reading more content from a Wiki article would also be useful.

Okay, I'll quickly go over it.

SPARTAN-II
SPARTAN-IIs were kidnapped from the age of 6, and put through a rigorous training program much like the IRL Spartans of Ancient Greece, only with guns and a much higher education. The training was so severe, that many of these kids actually died. In their early teens, they were put through an augmentation procedure, which gave them various drugs and implants to make them stronger and better, but only about half of them survived the procedure. They average around seven feet. Later on, they were also given the MJOLNIR armor - which only Spartans are capable of wearing, I must add, because anyone else who tries will have their bones shattered.
Examples of Spartan-IIs: John (Master Chief), Jorge (Noble Five), Kelly, Linda, Frederic, Jerome, Alice, Douglass.

SPARTAN-III
SPARTAN-IIIs are teenagers who were orphaned during the war with the Covenant, and volunteered for military service. Their armor and augmentations are of lower quality than the SPARTAN-IIs and they have less training, but they are also cheaper to produce. A cheaper but less efficient alternative to SPARTAN-IIs, they were originally mass-produced for suicide missions against the Covenant, but a few of them survived or were reassigned, forming elite squads like Noble Team from Halo: Reach.
Examples of Spartan-IIIs: Everyone in Noble Team, except Jorge.

SPARTAN-IV
SPARTAN-IVs were introduced after the war with the covenant was over. They are basically exceptional Marines and ODSTs who voluntarily joined the program. Because technology has advanced by this point, their augmentations are more survivable and their armor is of good quality, but it isn't quite clear if they are on the same level as SPARTAN-IIIs. They are definitely weaker than IIs, however.
Examples of Spartan-IVs: Locke, Buck, Vale, Tanaka, Thorne, Palmer.

Also, may I suggest another faction?

Atriox and his Banished from Halo Wars 2. They're kind of like the Sanghelli Heretics, I suppose, but cooler. And they are Brutes instead of Elites (although they do have plenty of elites among their ranks.) Look up Halo Wars 2: Atriox Origin Story on YouTube. It basically explains his backstory and faction. They weren't actually introduced until Halo Wars 2, which came out a few months ago, but they have apparently been active and fighting the Covenant for years before the Halo series began.

Ah, I see, thanks for taking the time to explain all that. I think it makes the most sense to have Spartan IIs. The war against the Covenant never ended (in the role-play), and it seems the war against the Covenant, so far, lasted thirty years, so I think we could have alternative versions of Spartans IIIs as well.

Oh OK then, yes, that next faction I'll try to include, if there's enough room to edit the post.

Also worth noting about the Spartan-IIs:

They are EXTREMELY loyal to each other. And in the Halo universe, they were extremely loyal towards Halsey, the doctor behind the project, even viewing her as a mother figure, and she views them as her children. And although they were trained from such a young age, they do not have blind faith in their orders, as that would interfere with their judgement.

But they are unflinchingly loyal to humanity as a whole. In Halos 4 and 5, Master Chief often disobeys the UNSC to do what he thinks is right.

Good to know, I'll mention their loyalty.

I added the Banished as a race. There was just enough info to squeeze them in on page 2, just under the Sangheili Heretics and defectors. There isn't much details, but I did with what room I had left. Thanks for the suggestion, Fishing, these Brute rebels will definitely come in handy.

Oh, sorry, one last thing. I should probably mention that most of the Spartan-IIs in the Halo Universe are dead. There were only about 75 to begin with (35 or so after the procedures - each one cost the same amount as a ship, hence the low numbers.) The war lasted so long and they were so awesome (many at or approaching the same skill level as Master Chief) that the UNSC over-used them, and they usually ended up going out making heroic last stands and sacrifices. Of course, their current state in your own universe is entirely up to you.

I'll come up with some character ideas tomorrow. G'night.
