I suppose this all hinges on the question, why are the cities delapidated and abandoned - and how close is the setting to "modern day" louisiana? Are supernatural events heresay, or common knowledge?

There are various reasons why the world is dying: radiation, chemical warfare, biological warfare, supernatural entities taking people, and generic breakdown of everything. I did not put much thought or effort into this though, I wanted to simplify Fog as much as possible. We assume supernatural themes are hearsay and common knowledge, depending on the locale. For example, voodoo occultists would know about the supernatural, whereas modern folk would normally not.

In As Demons Weeping, the next setting in the Eastern Continent, so you may be able to rejoin the thread by controlling the Eastern Chapter of the Grand Inquisition, whom are mentioned by Inkeyes to be attempting to slay the Archdemon of the Eastern Continent, a sea monster, so the chapter will need to use a warship to sail out and find the beast. This detachment and its sailors/marines, and the type of warship, is up to you.

Gwen can be time-skipped to skip her current fight on-board the boat against the clergy, assuming victory or defeat, or I can re-intro the scene for you, so we quickly get through it and then move onto the next scene in the Eastern Continent. The choice is yours.

How far back should I read on ADW?

(I remember I had a lot of hype for Gwen, but I lost it after a series of characterisation screw ups that made me question the legitimacy of her character.)

None. Gwen snuck on-board a galleon (by hiding in a sarcophagus, I think), based on Luther Sting's company, which was transporting Ancient Egyptian relics and whatnot to the Holy See. Gwen unintentionally awoke an Anubite, fought up to the deck, and the galleon was in the instance of being attacked by a sea monster you were allowed to intro and control, to spice things up a bit. There are also a few other Roman ships. Luther's father, Benedict Sting, is the killer of Gwen's mother, as mentioned in your prologue of her.

I can simply re-intro everything you for to assemble a "boss fight" and go from there, to soon rejoin the quest with Ancient and Annie.

Gwen is alone for now, so there's nothing to read about her area. If you intend to re-intro her in the currently active situation, it's a rock-cut temple in a jungle, with Annie, Judeccus (a guy in a suit), and Aurelius (Aurelius is a big golden skeleton).

I will try to post for Gwen in her current situation sometime later today.

Judeccus killed himself, sorry.

He stated that people shouldn't live with regret and he left his cult to spread discord in order for civilisations to self destruct. Negotius is the one that talked with Inkeyes after that, and I'll be posting him asking a question later if that's OK. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!
