I noticed that the English Wikipedia article about Gerhard Konopka, one of my ancestors, is gone now. He served the Wehrmacht for all six years of WW2, even surviving the battles of Moscow and Berlin, won three gold medals, two silver, and several other medals. Meanwhile, Ted Knight, another ancestor (Ted Knight, whose real name is Tadeusz Konopka, was my dad's distant cousin), also served in WW2.
My dad said that Gerhard was the black sheep of the family, and no one wanted to talk about him. Jan Konopka, a Napoleonic general, was an earlier ancestor of mine, and even earlier, my family goes back to the Nowina clan, of which a Hajnosz (I think that was his name) was a cavalry officer who made cauldrons, but was killed by Teutonic crusaders in a battle I forgot.
I think the reason why I tend to make role-plays and stories so action-orientated is due to my family's military history spanning several hundred years. My dad served in the Polish communist army as well, but managed to eventually escape to Mexico and ended up in Canada.
I get lots of ideas from my family history, which, with a little converting and adjusting, was often a good formula to work on my role-plays and stories. I think that's why I can be rather quick in role-playing. How does everyone else get ideas or 'fuel' to work in role-playing? Since activity is a bit low, I think it pays to do some research, see what I can do.
