Scions of Sorcery has several races you can draw inspiration from, which has panther-men, canine-men, lizard-men, feathered raptor-men, snake-men (Naga/Gorgon-like), bird-men, insect-men, and even synapsid-men (synapsids are, basically, mammal-like reptiles), and more popular races such as orcs and minotaurs. Most of them have Latin or Greek names, so it's rather easy to relate them to the real-world. Of course, you can have Lizardmen as humans call them, then that race's own title referring to themselves. As for culture, you can base them off real-world equivalents. For example, the Draconians can have a culture similar to Orthodox Christianity architecture, iconoclasm, and themes.

I just updated Scions of Sorcery, added two new amphibious races, as that's what the races list was lacking. There's now a race based off killer whales but with pelvis and legs and arms, and a race based off leatherback sea turtles but who had evolved longer trunk-like legs for walking, flipper-like arms with fingers and elbows for swimming and gripping items, and a longer tail to stabilize balance while walking.

Currently, there are no aquatic races, as most RPing will be done on land/above water, and there did not seem to be a need to role-play underwater.

Speaking of which, how about a steampunk-fantasy role-play set mostly underwater, where users play as aquatic or amphibious beast-races, or a diver in a primitive diving suit? Or indeed, I could make a role-play of which the setting is the bottom of the ocean, users playing as aquatic sentient beings in the likeness of deep sea creatures or as someone in a steampunk diving suit or something.

Sadly I feel that niche thread ideas such as this would have been more appropriate some years back when there was a larger community. The idea is a bit too out there and bit too specifically tailored that I imagine a decent number of people wouldn't feel comfortable roleplaying on it, (which is a shame because they might be scared away by its most appealing aspect- a completely alien roleplaying experience.) And given there's like, what, ten roleplayers left?

I would say wait and see if there's a large enough desire for such a thread before putting any work into creating one. Hags be hagglin', gods be god damn crazy, it's all happening ogre at Into The Fire

Heya Annie! Just the person I was hoping to see pop up, actually. I was thinking about how in The Final Quest, we got to explore Jim Wells, Annie's father the Spy Master who had trained her and made her live a miserable life. And then I realised- I don't think I know anything about Annie's mum! Aside from the fact that she's an elf, of course. Have you ever thought about what her mother is like? Does that mean you don't know, haven't thought about it, don't care, etc.? You've gotta admit, that's a pretty large part of her history left undescribed, especially given the spy profession she ended up in. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Actually, I have no problem RPing with just one other person, but my preference is with at least two others. I also have no problem spending a few days making a role-play for just two other people, seeing as it's rare to find more than one active person anyways.

If this community just doesn't revive soon, I will inevitably move onto other projects myself. I have a longing to return to my original stories in Wattpad full-time, as I really wanna improve my older ideas. So far, I've managed to at least reread the first half of a few stories, tidied them up, and am working with a friend in Venezuela to translating Skyhook to Spanish, though due to the big problems in Venezuela, looks like that that idea won't be finishing anytime soon.
