Too right you are, Annie!

DREW!

I was imagining creating a blacksmith character from Taverly. In game terms, it would be like they were born with 99 smithing - a prodigy not seen since Torag (or Linza? Do the signature heroes still exist/die in your thread?). Their greatest regret before the war was that nobody knew how to wield two hammers, and thus has had to put up with crafting swords, Claws and Knives for Asgarnian nobility.

Now that the world has gone to hell, I imagine many sides would kill for an accomplished blacksmith for their own ends - perhaps to reforge their own godsword or another nefarious object.

I have a few ideas about how I could propel them toward the archipelago's if required, but I must ask. Are we to assume anything beyond steel (T30 gear in-game) is so rare it's almost unattainable?

West, last page

I thought the topic was about the forums? But you're right, less and less people have interest in the game's content, my being one of them. What really puts me off is the cartoony appearance of the game now. Old school RS at least had this medieval feel, whereas this new RS looks like a cosplay for anime. When a game feels like a cartoon, people don't take it seriously, and so are more likely to lose interest.

Your ideas sound good, though even if those happened, I admit I would not be interested in RuneScape. There are great titles like The Elder Scrolls, Dark Souls, and Total War, that are so great, and don't require monthly subscription, that it's just not worth it to play RS.

This isn't just a roleplaying and story forum, it's the Runescape roleplaying and story forum. The health of this forum is directly related to the health of the game - which is why I say any change has to come from the players (and jmods) from inside of the game.

I like Runescape stories - it has some of the best in the longrunning MMO genre. I just think they pick off too much at once. While some games focus on one story and grind it to completion, Runescape tries to spread their work all over the place. As it stands, I don't think this is really working for them - especially when they have to take so much time revamping the more outdated mechanics of the game.

As much as I love Waiko (one of the biggest offenders of your "cartoony culture" ), the resources there could have been used to create more... relevant and appreciated content. Sometimes I'm left to wonder if it was designed for Runescape in the first place - but that's another bag of worms.

EDIT: Caught a brainfart. :P

Yes, I know this isn't just about the forums, but I thought you were talking about the forums specifically, so never mind, I mistakeded. Yes, the health of the game and the forums are correlated.

You're right, RuneScape has many stories all over the place, which is pretty cool, as it adds diversity and gives users a break from the usual or classical themes fantasy games have. Yeah, a newer/better game engine would be nice, though RuneScape won't go there any time soon. Everyone has already experienced the best of RuneScape. I had my main account since RuneScape Classic, I have a ten-year Veteran cape and a Classic cape, I've already enjoyed RuneScape, and have nothing left for it. There's still may quests I have not done, but questing often felt like a boring chore than anything else. Underground Pass is my favorite quest.

While Guthix Sleeps, Ritual of the Mahjaratt and The World Wakes, I feel, were the pinnacle of questing (at least, without a quest guide). Underground Pass will always hold a special place for me though, because as weird as it sounds, it was actually fun catching up with other players and fuming about how impossible the next jump was. Good times were spent lamenting that poor unicorn (yes, THAT unicorn) - though I always regretted not going back for a leg or two. To this day, I still wonder what unicorn might have tasted like.

There are a few low level gems out there though - several I highly recommend. Gower Quest was an amazing creation, and is even F2P! Bringing Home the Bacon also left me in stitches, albeit is P2P.

My point is, if we could take these awesome experiences and translate them into words, into stories, we'd have a thriving community again.

I am waiting for people to post, until then can I RP.

Speaking of which, Ancient, I tried to get a story involved between Judeccus and Atman, as you mentioned Judeccus met Atman before. Considering Aurelius was captured by Atman somehow sometime earlier, it may involve Lazorax's fortress, which may even be the Sunken Temple itself (though this is unlikely as the Sunken Temple is not in Heretus), or Aurelius ended up in the inverted Sunken Temple after Lazorax's fortress, or Lazorax's fortress/Heretus is somehow interconnected with the Sunken Temple. Since the content of your posts include multiple stories, I was unable to memorize key details of characters or events.

To progress merged storylines, you may have to describe Lazorax, Argentus, or the Judiciars more wholly with storytelling one way or another (here or in the RP thread), as I don't really know anything about them. The mercantile theme was also something I was unable to work out with. Alternatively, we can just not worry about anything and keep going, or I can get you chances to include your content to merge with the RP's storyline in certain conditions or scenarios, or something.

About quests,
Ha, I brought a canon with me to the Underground Pass, I spent hours walking after falling. I don't quite remember a unicorn though. I will admit I was unable to figure out most of the quest, so I resorted to using a guide here and there. Fighting Iban also caught me off-guard, I didn't know what to do, until I read you just throw the doll/whatever down the well, causing Iban to die, somehow, however that works.

But ya, the best quests have good experiences, though I'm not sure how to translate them into words. Underground Pass was, well, underground pass. With demons, ogres, dwarfs, a dwarf named Klank, weird jumping, traps, those caged guys who can bite through gauntlets but not Klank's gauntlets, those robed cultists, it was a classic quest.
