I'd like to make one note here, and that's that I never intended "stupid" as a personal insult. If you want to take it that way, fine, but it wasn't intended as a "petty insult".

It's a post-apocalyptic society where humanity is struggling to get back on it's feet. Why worry about robot rights when humans are starving and constantly being attacked? Synths should not have been invented: The Institute can not control them, while the Railroad coddles them and is willing to kill countless amounts of humans to protect them.

Humans cannot co-exist with the vast majority of Super Mutants (only a few followers and I think a community somewhere in one of the games counts as an exception), and they cannot co-exist with any Ferals.

Because, if you actually care about another sentient race that is trying just as hard as you are to get on their feet and get themselves going, maybe the coexistence will actually help defend you against the perils of the world. Acting xenophobic and fearful won't do anything more than add another group to the mass of things that want to exterminate you. The fact that they "shouldn't have been invented" is irrelevant, because they have been, and if you would argue against genocide of the human race then you should also argue against genocide of another race that is just as sentient.

You're arguing a moot point with the second paragraph, since I already said that there shouldn't be any issue with those that are already trying to kill you en masse.

My line of reasoning is that machines should not be given free will and left unsupervised. Look at the Coursers - Synths can be programmed to be stronger, faster, and smarter than the typical human. They are immune to radiation, and if taken care of can live forever. How long until Synths figure out how to alter their own coding, and a human-hating Synth alters the coding of other Synths to give them a similar mindset? Or what if another organization gets their hands on some Synths and recreates them to use for nefarious means?

And cybernetic enhancements exist for humans that can make them just as effective. If synths are gone, there will be something else to take their place, and I don't see why, since they are already a known quantity, it would not be a good idea to make them friends and allies so that whatever comes after them is easier to deal with.

Them altering their own programming is, in effect, no different than human efforts to genetically engineer themselves to be stronger and their brainwashing attempts that they use to make zealots out of normal people. Synths may be stronger, but humans are more numerous, and in the end it evens out. If they do, and since you're convinced that they will, I still do not see why you are not arguing to make them allies rather than enemies. Besides, in the time it will take them to do that, given their current state of existence, humans will have developed enough tech to let them stand toe-to-toe with the robotic menace.

In the end, attempting to destroy them won't matter one bit to those who are going to commit evil, and if you have them on your side them you can fight with them against those that seek to use them for such purposes. Being allies gives you someone that can have your back, and even with their fallible robotic structures synths are no less reliable than your average human.

I suppose there really is no way to predict exactly what will happen if the Synths are free. However, it will take years to convince the majority of Commonwealth residents to be accepting of Synths, even without taking into account the Synths who will inevitably turn evil (by the way, it is easier to reprogram a machine than it is to reprogram a human.)

It will take even longer for them to actually drive out all the threats on their own, if it is even possible - remember, siding with the Railroad has you destroy the Brotherhood, so that only really leaves the Minutemen to protect the Commonwealth, and they aren't the most reliable faction.

The Brotherhood is already equipped to, in their words, "cleanse" the Commonwealth. If the Ferals, Super Mutants, and Raiders are cleared out, there will be no obstacles stopping civilization from re-establishing itself.

As for the cybernetic enhancements, the Institute discontinued that research because reasons, and it is lost altogether when the Brotherhood/Railroad/Minutemen nuke the Institute.

Also you say another technological threat will come after Synths, but the Brotherhood isn't going to allow that. And if it happens anyways... they have a giant super robot, an airship, helicopters, and dozens if not hundreds of powered armored soldiers. I think they can handle it.

Final points: It is really fun to stomp around in power armor, fly around in a jetpacks/vertibird, and say "Ad Victoriam!" I would also like to reassert the Railroad's willingness to defend synths at the expense of nearly everything else.

Introducing fun new technologies! Let me know if did a suck-ass job of explaining how devices and such work!

Also, Fish; if you do decide to activate the arm immediately, it'll go something like this: The sleeve will attach itself through your skin and directly into the nerve endings that would normally control the arm. This is a process that is going to be excruciating, but brief. Afterward, the arm will be able to be controlled as if you had never lost your arm at all. I am open to questions about the specifics!

Everyone was given a pack, it just wasn't presented with an incredulous look like it was for Lucky and Scarlet. Presumably you walked up to the desk, asked about a package, and the lady handed it to you.

Now, question for you: Are there any special restrictions to introing on your thread?
