I had an interesting day. I made a new forge, made from a 10 litre steel bucket, filled-in with plaster, sand and water so that it covers the sides and bottom, and drill a hole. When it's dried-up, I then insert a short pipe into the hole, stick a hairdryer in the other end of the pipe while it's on cool setting. Wood and charcoal filling up the bucket, I get the fire going, turn on the hairdryer, and heat-up my old damaged spearhead. I hammered the spearhead flat yesterday (it's socket broke off long ago) to convert it into a leaf-bladed dagger.
So today, I heated it up so much the tip literally melted off, much to my disappointment. I was surprised to find that my new forge can put thin steel into a near-molten state. I will have to convert it into a knife or something now, seeing as there isn't enough metal left to make a dagger. I will also need to finally buy an anvil, as the stones I used all fractured apart.
Speaking of anvils, an 11 pound anvil is 60 dollars at Canadian Tire, whereas for about 105$, I can get a 55 pound anvil at Amazon, even with free shipping and handling o.0
