Hm, sorry 'bout that.

Now, the last person that needs to die: Athos! Epic ending the story in one chapter, and it *would* be an original ending. I can see it now...

"Athos battle through wave upon wave of the rebels, fury coursing throughh him at the loss of his brother, mother, father, and everybody he ever knew and loved... when suddenly he got caught in a bear trap and died."

I've already written a story that had the main character die off randomly. It shocked the readers that I had back then, but I brought him back later in shining full-Gilded armor just in time to kill off the guy who'd killed him before he killed all of his friends.

Edit: I think he came back as a J-Mod with a golden crown beside his name, too. That was back when I wrote noob stories.

Yep... Those were the days.

Chapter Four: No Title Yet

Athos woke up the next day and left his father's side without a look back. He headed straight for the southern gate of Varrock, unsheathing his sword and letting it ring out for dramatic effect.

After effortlessly slaying a few dark mages without even being scraped, he headed to a nearby farm between Varrock and Lumbridge. Inside of a barn there, he found the rebels' group. They were all sleeping silently on the floor.

"ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Athos shouted, waking them up.

Athos battled through wave upon wave of the rebels, fury coursing through him at the loss of his brother, mother, father, and everybody he ever knew and loved... when suddenly he got caught in a bear trap and died.

The End ( ? )

----------------------

This is what I've accomplished in the past few days. :P

Chapter Four: To Each His Own Path

Sunshine streamed onto Athos' eyelids, making the muscles of his face crinkle up against its radiant brightness. His eyes opened, lids fluttering as his pupils adjusted to the bright, clear-blue sky above him, and he started to rub his eyes. However, as he attempted to sit up, something struck his midsection with a thick blow, knocking all of the wind from him in a painful jerk. He gasped and opened his eyes to find that he was somehow laying underneath an iron fence.

Looking around after gathering his breath again, he could not find his father anywhere in sight. In fact, he wasn't even in the slum area of the city anymore. He was in the neighborhood just to the east of the castle.

It didn't take Athos long to discover that other things were a bit unusual this morning, too. He'd been stripped of all of his guard-armor, left only with his regular clothes. His sword was missing as well, but the Saradomin necklace that his father had given him still hung around his neck. It was as if Saradomin himself had made sure that it wasn't stolen.

Athos slipped out from underneath the fence and turned to start going home. However, as he jumped to his feet, he unexpectedly crashed into another person who'd been passing by. They smacked heads and dropped to the ground in surprise.

"Oh, sorry," Athos quickly apologized to the man. "I didn't see you there."

The person that Athos had run into had his chocolate-colored hair laying down over a red headband which was completely drenched in sweat. He had obviously been running, and his clothes were of the exercising types.

"Don't worry about it," he said, getting to his feet. Then he offered Athos a hand, which he accepted, and helped him up, too. "I saw you waking up just a minute ago. What happened? Did'ja pass out after a late night at the bar, trying to go home or something?"

Athos scratched his neck and responded, "You know... I think I may have... sleep-walked or something. It's odd. This wasn't where I fell asleep."

The man laughed. "I'd hope not. You don't seem like the homeless-type."

Athos didn't respond or show any sort of emotion that gave even the slightest of impressions that he'd heard the man.

"What's your name?" the man asked. Athos looked up suddenly, surprised that he'd started to phase out a little. This startled the man slightly, making him add, "I ask because I'm in the business of finding, uh... friends, for this thing I belong to. Y'know, connections and stuff."

"My name's Athos," he told the man. "Athos Ammon. Tell me yours."

"Me? My name's Nicolas Nire, but nobody calls me that. Everyone just says Nic, and I'm fine with that."

"Alright, Nic, do you think you could help me out?" Athos asked.

Nic nodded.

"What do you need?"

"Last night, I..." Athos began, only to stop and start again differently. "After whatever happened last night, someone must've stolen all of my armor and my sword. I assume that it must've been thieves during the night, but you didn't happen to see anything else happen before I woke up, did you?"

"I actually just got back into the city," Nic replied. "I do a morning run from the western gates to the eastern gates every day, but I go around the outside. All I saw was you sleeping, then waking up."

Athos nodded, accepting the response a bit bitterly, as it didn't help him at all. Nic seemed to notice and felt the obligation to give better help.

"Try going to the castle and asking the guards. They have nightwatchmen, so if any of them saw anything, they'd be sure to let you know," he suggested. "They're good people, the Varrock guards. Well, most of 'em. And if you can get on Queen Ellamaria's good side, she'd be sure to help. Not very many people know this 'bout her, but she's really not from noble blood. She acts snobby sometimes, but it's all just an act. She really is a good person!"

Nic smiled, hoping to see a reflection of it on Athos' emotionless face. However, it didn't come.

"That's all I have," Nic apologized, still smiling slightly at his lips' corners. "Hope it helped somewhat."

Athos sighed, but responded, "Yeah, it definitely helped me. Thanks, Nic, you take care."

Nic's smile returned, full-force, but Athos began walking away, hands in his pockets. Nic turned away and looked at the ground, feeling a little insecure, but then began running again. Athos, on the other hand, walked back to his house.

He was well-aware that he should already be at work, as the sun was fairly high in the sky. However, his job was no longer such a high priority on his list. Athos had new objectives set in place for himself now that he was fully alone. None of them would have need of his silly guard-job anymore.
