A blast of water flew ahead of Tash as he took off in a curve towards Aldford. The gloved man countered the incoming spell with a burst of air from one of his gloves and the ball of magic dissipated in midair. From only a couple feet away, Tash lobbed an array of speedy air attacks. Aldford's gloves easily counteracted the low level strikes just by catching them.
Now that Tash was in range, Aldford moved in for an attack of his own from his left hand against Tash's abdomen. Tash grinned as his foe came in close to land a blow, but had instead fallen into a trap. Tash clapped his right hand against the approaching left causing an explosion between the two of them. He had planted a number of his own runes in his palm and used momentum to keep them in place as he threw his hand at Aldford. Unfortunately, his plan had backfired somewhat, and sent him flying backwards as his end of the blow had not quite equaled out with the other side.
"Heh," Aldford sneered, "good attempt." He took off in a sprint while reloading his gloves from his pockets. "But now you’re wide open!"
Tash cringed as he felt the cold hand of defeat brush up against his chest and quickly turn to flames on his new clothing. His body was hurdled even further back and he landed with a thud against the ground. It took him a second or two to realize he was still breathing despite the fact a certain killing blow had just touched him in where he believed his lungs to be. No pain, nor a hole, seemed to be present apart from a charred vest on his front as he looked himself over while standing back up.

"Impossible!" bellowed Aldford. He rushed forward with his other hand held out and landed another slap. Tash managed to remain upright against this one, and still no tear in his flesh had appeared. "What the hell is going on?" Aldford seemed angry at the sight of his failing magic. He shoved both hands into his pockets and continued with a flurry of smacks on Tash's body, after each blow he became angrier and angrier as still no damage was dealt. Finally, he attacked with both hands making a force strong enough to once again throw Tash backwards like a rag doll. "Why the hell won't you die!?"
Tash coughed as he rubbed a hand over his torn clothing and felt something smooth. "Hehe," he chuckled with a grin across his face. "It looks like that other mage wasn't lying." Aldford looked back with a confused yet mad stare. The once green vest and white shirt fluttered to the ground with one good tug to reveal the underlying garment. "I guess this would explain why your attacks are so futile." Under Tash's previous clothing were the dragon wing robes taken from his prior foe.
"What is that suit?"
"It's a set of magic enhancing robes sewn from the wings of a dragon. I took them as a souvenir from the last man I killed. Pretty lucky that I took 'em with me."
"Lucky indeed," Aldford sniggered. "It seems all of my strikes against your upper torso and presumably your legs will generate no results, but it doesn't look like you're wearing anything over your head. If I land a palm to your face then you'll be done for."

"Well then I'll just make sure to keep your grimy hands off my head." Tash leapt back to gain some ground before crushing out two bolts of earth magic from both hands. Aldford tumbled forward and pushed off the ground in Tash's direction. Once he regained a running stance he began to weave back and forth. The two of them remained moving in one direction keeping a short distance between both.
Aldford ceased his advance which caught Tash slightly off guard. He raised his arms in Tash's direction and clapped his hands together to form the runes in both gloves into a magical burst rather than his touch spell. The blast of magic rushed towards the unsuspecting foe only a few feet away. He positioned his arms in front of him in an X shape to defend from the blow, but the force of the blast knocked him back a bit. Aldford once again had an opening; however, he knew where to aim this time.
Tash scrambled around on the cobblestone road as his attacker came upon him. He had no runes in his hands and both of his weapons were too far out of reach to defend him. A last second idea came to him as Aldford raced to lower his hand upon his face, and he slammed an open palm against the side of Aldford's knee. Much to his glee blood spewed across his plain of view, and the body of a man hobbled down to the ground next to him. Using this distraction Tash hopped back up to his feet, and it looked like the other man on the ground would not be doing the same as his left leg was brushed aside.

"You...you used my own spell, my own runes, against me!" Aldford wallowed in anguish in a pool of his own blood. "If this didn't look like my own downfall I'd commend you for your cleverness." Tash panted as the crippled man spoke. "But I won't let it end like this!" He tore out the string of runes from inside his right pant leg revealing a large collection of prearranged runes slung together. "Block this!" Aldford motioned his free hand to hit the clutter of runes and fire off a spell of immense proportions at Tash, but the opportunity was more golden for Tash.
The distraught mage's piles of runes was added to as Tash chucked a handful of his own at him to throw off the balance of runes and make the entire spell unstable. The blast caught Tash slightly while he tried to dodge to the side. The sheer force of the air splitting spell heaved Tash across the square onto the edge of the stones as well as tore the dragon wing robes clear off his chest and arms. Hitting the ground with such energy caused him to cough up blood, but compared to the state of his foe he could not complain.
At the other side of the square lied the inert corpse of man in front of a massive trench in the ground. Thus was the fate of one who over compensated the amount of runes for a spell.
"Taking my words into consideration after all these years, eh?" spoke a familiar voice. "I sensed a commotion in town so I just had to come and see." Tash looked up to the rooftops where the voice was coming from and could feel his senses stir.

From the text:
If I land a palm to your face then you'll be done for.
If I land a palm to your face
palm to your face
palm face
facepalm
I sense madness.
And my laziness in not posting counteracted your laziness in not writing. You've fallen for my completely and entirely intentional trap card.
...
Oh, and that uniform shirt thing is epic. I imagine you know what I'm talking about. I actually burst into laughter the first time I saw it.
Well, not quite burst, but you get the point.

I couldn't keep myself from writing that part once I had gotten there, the truth in Aldford's statement and the hilariousness of the phrase was too much.
And I know, the shirt's amazing ^ ^b I'm glad more people like it.
