Our penultimate encounter is on the first floor , against Glough and his cohort of jungle demons . Glough refers to himself as Lord Regent of Kandarin, and we're confused~

Glough? You're the ruler of Kandarin? But what about Tyras? What about the humans?

What tree have you been buried under? Ardougne and everything around it was destroyed over a year ago!

But how?

Something called the Dark Lord crawled out of Galarpos and killed everything in its path. Better for me. With the pompous Ardignas gone, it was easy to navigate my fleet of warships around the Kandarin coast and pick off any human holdouts. Now gnomekind are the undisputed rulers of our lands, just as we were meant to be!

Glough uses his illusion magic to become invisible, and Zanik rushes to our side, lambasting Glough for his cowardice, and claiming this is the fight she's been waiting for. The goblins fight against the jungle demons. Glough reappears, using mage and range . He periodically uses his illusion magic to disappear for short periods of time, and at 75%, 50%, 25% health, he disguises himself as a goblin and removes our aggression on him , at which point he must be found from amongst our allies. With Glough dead, we let the goblins kill the remaining demons.

Our final battle is solo, atop Varrock castle . The guard training implements are gone, replaced with tall Zamorakian and Mahjarrat statues, and the open space in the middle has been covered over with rough boards (think model from 'The Pit'). The arena is essentially a large open space with a few blocking pillars.

We face off against Sharat*teerk (ranged), Arrav (melee), and Solus Dellagar (magic), all very high level combatants using a full rotation of thresholds and ultimates . Zemouregal stands in the centre, blocking all damage with an impenetrable shield, and casts portals around the arena: portals that buff his allies (but only while they are standing on them), portals that heal his allies, portals that drain the player's stats, and portals that do rapid DoT.

When we have defeated Zemouregal's three champions, the Mahjarrat's shield falters, and we begin to fight Zemouregal himself. However, shortly into this fight, a black cloud appears in the centre of the arena and claims that Zemouregal has failed him for the last time. A black ball of energy hits Zemouregal and kills him instantly . The mysterious cloud is about to do the same to us, but we are suddenly teleported out, and find ourselves in a house in north Varrock with Surok Magis . He tells us that he's been watching our progress, he knows that we are not of this world, and that we are the final piece he needs. Zemouregal was only a puppet, and now we face a force that threatens to extinguish Gielinor. When we are ready, he and his compatriots will be waiting for us to take on Zemouregal's master.

.

After completing this quest, all armoured zombies in the city are replaced with patrolling barbarians , and many of the prisoners from Varrock museum have moved into the castle. If we talk to them, they thank us for defeating Zemouregal, but they claim a strange force is keeping them from getting up to the roof, and fear that things aren't over.

Summary

Without a pesky adventurer to stop him, Nomad has defeated Lucien , taken his artefacts, and become demigod master of the Zamorakian Mahjarrat. Now that we've foiled his plans to control the world by taking over its leaders' souls, he's ready to take more direct action. A council of reformed do-badders, Surok Magis , Movario , Grayzag , and the Culinaromancer , need our help to defeat him. We must obtain the Measure for detecting god energy, a sample of Nomad's soul power, chaotic energy from the Chaos Tunnels, and four powerful dishes: Cream of Edicap Soup, Golden Apple Cobbler, White Pearl Choc-ice, and Guacamole. With these in hand, we are ready to take on Nomad. We must siphon Nomad's energy and fight a series of food-based versions of the GWD bosses , controlled by Nomad, before taking on Nomad himself, and successfully expelling him into the Void.

After we agree to help Surok , he takes us upstairs to meet his co-conspirators, calling themselves the Guardians of Gielinor . We are shocked to discover Movario , Melville Grayzag , and the Culinaromancer all working together. Surok tells us that they've made mistakes in the past, they've let petty grievances get the better of them, and because of that, they've all helped pave the way for the new disaster that threatens Gielinor – the demigod Nomad !

Movario explains to us that Nomad was a disciple of Lucien . Movario managed to track down two very powerful artefacts for his master, artefacts that he suspected predated the creation of the world. However, before Lucien could attend the Mahjarrat Ritual of Rejuvenation and restore himself to a state where he could draw on their full power, a greatly empowered Nomad ambushed him, defeated him, and took his artefacts. Nomad managed to stab Lucien with his own staff , weakening the Mahjarrat greatly and leaving Lucien as first choice for sacrifice in the next ritual .

Nomad 's power magnified exponentially, and he managed to subjugate Lucien's allies, even fellow Mahjarrat, to his will. Nomad called for the summit of Gielinor's leaders, planning to seize control of the dignitaries' souls, and thus their kingdoms . However, Nomad 's plans are not for simple world domination. He has grown obsessed with his own power, and seeks to magnify it by any means possible – even if it means draining the souls of all life on Gielinor . This is his true aim.

We are somehow displaced in time, and this seems to make Nomad's magic more chaotic, leaking out of him as he uses it . Additionally, we appear to have a resistance to some of his powers – we already showed that in the Zemouregal fight.

The guardians believe we may have the power to destabilize Nomad enough to make him vulnerable. Then, Grayzag will be able to open up a portal to the void , banishing him permanently while most of his power is left behind.

Before we can engage Nomad , however, we must make some preparations. Surok gives us a
beacon
, which we will need to plant on Nomad when he is weakened in order to make him susceptible to Grayzag 's portals. This
beacon
must be
charged
with chaotic portal magic – for which the best source is located in the Chaos Tunnels . Unfortunately, in this world, the chaos tunnels have caved in, and are inaccessible.

Grayzag will need to create four runed pillars in order to channel his energy and open a portal to the void. However, in order to attune them to Nomad , he will need a
sample
of his base power, which seems to be derived from souls – though he has no idea how to obtain this.

Movario tells us that we'll need to channel Nomad 's leaking magical potential during the fight (the power he has obtained directly from his artefacts) in order to
charge
the pillars and keep Nomad from counter-acting the portal. However, though he can detect the energy leaking, he can't locate the energy itself, and asks us if we can find some way to make it more substantial.

The Culinaromancer will distract Nomad , battling him until we can open the portal. However, to do so, he will need four very powerful dishes, crafted with rare and exotic ingredients.
Cream of mushroom soup
, made with rare edicap mushrooms, a fungus that has been warped by energy from other planes.
Berry chocolate crunch
, made of cream flavoured with white pearl fruits, covered with chocolate, embedded with tchi*i nuts, and kept frozen with a magic ancient and powerful.

Apple cobbler
, made from precious golden apples – said by the Fremennik to be coursing with vitality, the source of youth for their ancient mountain gods – and flavoured with rare pure cinnamon~

Cinnamon? Like what you get from grinding dramen tree bark?

Dramen bark? No, you heathen! Do I look like an ogre to you? I mean real, pure cinnamon, from the cinnamon tree. Heaven knows where you'll find one.

And finally,
guacamole
, made from the extinct avocado, and infused with the power of “
potassium and dietary fibre!

If we take the
beacon
to our timeline's chaos tunnels , it will act like a talisman, pulling in a particular direction , towards a random portal. It must be
charged with energy
from four portals before it is ready. We can obtain a
sample of Nomad's energy
by visiting Zimberfizz , who will reluctantly part with some of the 'soul energy' he's been bottling. We can return to Freneskae to obtain
The Measure
, which will let us detect Nomad's leaking energy.

To make the
mushroom soup
, we go to Daemonheim , enter a dungeon, and obtain an
edicap spore
. We ask the smuggler about sneaking out a mushroom, and he tells us that the Fremennik check us far too thoroughly to hope to hide anything on our person, and he's not going to take the risk. However, they don't check inside our person. He offers to sell us an
emetic
. We drop the
spore
in the
emetic
, drink it, and exit the dungeon, whereupon we keel over and vomit up the spore. We can then
plant
this in the Morytania mushroom patch to obtain some
edicaps
. Combine these with
cream
and an
uncooked stew
and
cook on a range
to obtain
cream of mushroom soup
.

For the
berry choco crunch
, we must speak with Rok** , who agrees to create another custom chocolate for us, but we must provide the ingredients. We obtain
berry cream
by adding
white pearl
to a
bucket of milk
and
churning it
, and we bring this and
chocolate dust
to Rok** (who is unable to add nuts as the chocolate seals in the enchantment). He gives us the
berry bar
, and we must wait until our chat tells us it is about to melt before adding
ground tchi*i nuts
, then
using an ice spell to freeze it
.

For the
cobbler
, we can obtain
cinnamon
by grinding
cinnamon twigs
from the phoenix lair . If we talk to Lalli about the golden apples, he will refuse and taunt us, saying we're weak. However, if we speak to him while wielding the
Kyzaj
, he will recognize us as the human who defeated Graardor, and beg us not to hurt him, giving us the
golden apples
. We fill a
cake tin with pastry dough
, add the
sliced apples and cinnamon
, top with another layer of
pastry dough
, and
bake
to make
apple cobbler
.

For the
guacamole
, we can simply obtain
avocados
by going back to the farm from Meeting History and picking them from the tree. We combine these in a
bowl
with
onion and garlic
to make the
guac
. We then return to the guardians , who will ask if we are ready for the final battle.

When we tell Surok we are ready, we will be teleported back to the roof of Varrock Castle . Nomad , wielding the Staff of Armadyl , will appear in the centre of the arena, and remain more or less stationary for the first four stages of the fight.

In each of these stages, we must set up one pillar in one of the corners of the roof, place
the Measure
, and gather enough
Nomadic Energy
(which stacks) to power the pillar. Meanwhile, Nomad will be concentrating on fighting a creation of the Culinaromancer (first Cream'arra , then Graarcamole , Cobbler Zilyapple , and finally K'ril Chocolath ), but will occasionally send a black skull our way, which we must avoid or take very heavy damage (similar to Lucien's attack). Surok will be standing by, occasionally healing us or the Culinaromancer , and Grayzag will be off to the side, concentrating on the portals.

After we have
charged
the pillar, Nomad will get the current food-based GWD boss down to half health, and take control of its soul, turning it on us. Nomad will then concentrate on fighting the Culinaromancer directly (temporarily stopping his black skull attacks ), and we must defeat the GWD boss (who uses a scaled down version of its mechanics from hard-mode GWD) in order to proceed to the next stage.

When all four pillars have been placed and all four GWD food bosses defeated , Nomad will kill the Culinaromancer and focus on us. Nomad uses more hard-hitting versions of his attacks from Nomad's Requiem, but additionally uses the black skull attack, and has no berserk mode. When his health becomes low, he will summon the Stone of Jas and place his hands on it, slowly recharging his health . During this time, he will stop attacking and become invulnerable , and we must quickly place the
beacon
on him or have to redo the fifth stage of the fight. When the
beacon
is successfully placed, Grayzag will activate the pillars, creating a portal that sucks Nomad in, leaving his staff and stone behind.

Suddenly, three familiar faces, the Necrosy*tes , appear, and incinerate Grayzag before addressing us. They recognize that we are not of this realm, but we are still a stone toucher, and will burn, as will all of Gielinor. They breathe flame at us before the screen suddenly goes white, and we find ourselves back in Varrock Square of our own timeline. We talk to Gypsy Aris , who tells us that we managed to restore equilibrium, that the alternate timeline is in no more danger than our own timeline now, and the space-time continuum is safe.

Note: I also toyed with the idea of 'rum' balls, made with a special variety of braindeath rum, in lieu of the Berry Choco Crunch, in which case Do No Evil would be replaced with Rum Deal in the reqs. Either way, K'ril Chocolath (K'chill Chocolath? K'filled Chocolath?) is too good to pass up.

Just a silly addenum, but I was thinking on what I'd imagine the rewards would be from such a quest.

Access to new herblore based transmogrification circus event - mix and drink potions to turn into various creatures, at level 10, 30, 50, 70, 90.

Access to construction training by fixing Doresh-Kaan machines with clockworks/goblin wire

Chance of obtaining ruby jackals in pyramid plunder (which fetch the highest price from Simon)

Two new level 60 weapons (staff of shattering and holy hammer), which do very high damage against gargoyles with no need for rock hammer, and have a special attack that's devastating against any monster with a stony exterior.

Build golem servant for POH (highest level, paid in body/steam runes instead of gp)

Use token to teleport directly to different floors of Varrock Museum

Convert artisan's workshop pool to holy font, directly fill vials of holy water

Plant white fruit in jade vine patch to create higher-xp jade tree

Mushrooms grown in Morytania have a chance to become 'tainted.' These can be added to spicy stews for guaranteed skill boosts - spicy bittercap stew has guaranteed +3, spicy morchella has guaranteed +5.

Ability to collect one golden apple per day. When eaten, it raises all stats by one, and has a gradual replenishing effect on life, prayer, and summoning points (like prayer renewal potions). The effect lasts for 10 minutes.

An aura that gives a small boost to combat, slayer, prayer, and summoning xp gained when fighting certain monsters, lasting 1 hour, active once per day. Each subquest adds new creatures:

1: zombies
2: lesser demons
3: dwarves/Red Axe creations
4: Lumbridge swamp/Dorgesh-Kaan slayer creatures
5: Werewolves, vampyres
6: gargoyles, waterfiends, mummies
7: Fremennik/Pollnivneach dungeon creatures, black demons
8: GWD monsters

Various XP rewards
