"It's nice to meet another Destruction student already. I can't believe I haven't seen you in any classes these past couple of years.." he had said, smiling directly after. Anais raised an eyebrow, her mind taking a few steps backward as she tried to place the face before her. She had possibly seen him around before, but due to the lack of interaction the chances were slim that they had really ever met before. "Chances are we were," she murmured, watching him as he bent to pet Balto. "Sometimes we just don't notice people like we do later on."

Balto rubbed into Christian's hand, his internal motor beginning to hum loudly as he purred. ~You little attention hog,~ she thought, pointing a glance down at the cat as Christian spoke to him. "Dog?" she asked as Balto, satisfied with his petting, strutted back into the room to sleep some more. Her thin eyebrows raised, she studied the man before her. He looked like a dog person, if appearance could equate to a person's species of preference for animal companionship. "What kind?" she added.

Christian stood back up as the cat made his way back to bed, ~Wish I could just sleep when I wanted to.~ He thought before looking back at the girl. "Oh he's an English Mastiff. I adopted him right when I got to the University and he was just an adorable little puppy. Now...he's a giant." He laughed.

"His name's Bear, because frankly...if he's not mistaken for a pony, than it's for a bear. You can meet him if you want, he's a big teddy....bear." Christian said, trailing off as he realized how many times he had said the word bear in the past twenty words. "I guess that's another reason to call him that, cause he's just a lover; like a teddy." He chuckled, a slight twinge of red flushing his face at the slight embarrassment.

Anais listened as he rambled on about his dog, a tiny smirk playing at the right corner of her lips. Like herself, he was crazy about his companion, going on about their story together for a few moments. He trailed off eventually, ending with an invitation to meet him if she wanted. Anais glanced back at the room she had her back to, watching Balto spring back up to the windowsill with little difficulty for how fat he was. *What the hell... just go see the pup. It won't kill you.~

She turned her attention back to Christian in front of her. Uncrossing her arms, she straightened and nodded. "I'll take you up on that," she murmured, holding up a single finger as she turned and grabbed her keys that were laying on the nearby counter. "I don't mind dogs," she added as she turned back to her companion, "so I won't pass up the opportunity to see one either." Anais let her smirk fill out a little, resembling more of a smile than before for a brief moment. "If you weren't busy, that is."

Christian gave a quick chuckle and a grin, "Nah, I'm not busy at all. I was gonna go for a swim later, but that can wait till later!" He said, turning back towards the hallway and heading back to his room. ~Hopefully Bear is feeling pretty relaxed right now...~ He thought, as the dog is somewhat jumpy as he's still a puppy...

A quick walk down just a couple of rooms and they were back and Christian's door. "Um, hopefully he doesn't jump on you...but no promises."He said, passing the key card over the electronic lock and into the dorm.

The small apartment style dorm was fairly clean, aside from a few bags in both the kitchen and living area Christian would get to later. The large dog was laying on the couch and shot up when he heard the door open.

"Hey Bear buddy...Company is here!" He said, as the dog sprinted over and immediately jumped up on Anais and put his large paws on her shoulder, sniffing her before giving a quick, sloppy lick under her chin.

"Dammit Bear, get down!" Christian quickly exclaimed, grabbing the large collar and tugging the 200 pound monster off of Anais. "I'm so sorry, he's still got all that puppy energy." He said with a frown.

Anais, shutting her door behind her, followed Christian down the hall. After a few doors, they stopped and she heard him say something about the dog "hopefully" not jumping up on her. Raising a single eyebrow, Anais was behind him as he opened the door. Her gaze swept the room before she could stop herself, golden eyes searching for this dog that had been the point of their trip. As her eyes connected with the aforementioned animal, she watched as the dog shot up immediately and came bounding towards them.

Due to the small gap between Christian and Anais, the dog - named Bear, it seemed - ran smack into the tall woman, who took a step back to accommodate the sudden weight of the dog. Paws on either shoulder, Anais stared down at the large animal nonchalantly as he seemed to study her carefully. A warm wetness came upon her chin as Bear licked her, his hot breath warm against her neck. Christian scolded the dog, pulling him back off of her as she stepped back forward with the weight now gone.

"It's no bother," Anais said quietly, kneeling on one knee to come eye to eye with the large dog. She held a hand out to Bear, palm down and fingers relaxed for him to sniff, then after a moment raised it to pat him behind the ears. "If that's how I end up leaving this world, then so be it." She grinned, glancing up at Christian. "Have you had him since he was a pup?"

Bear panted happily as the girl patted his head. Christian rolled his eyes, ~Always the center of attention.~ He grinned however, before strolling to the kitchen and grabbing two bottles of water that were still fairly warm.

He gave the bottles both a quick chill with some handy freezing spells, before offering one to Anais. "Yeah, as soon as I got here and found out we could have pets I adopted him. My parents didn't ever want something so big running through the house, and it wasn't really my plan to come here until right at the last moment...so I needed a quick friend." He shrugged, cracking open his water...which he had ended up freezing completely.

"Oh, cool..." He said softly, putting the cap back on and setting it down. ~Guess I wasn't thirsty or anything..~ He cursed at himself.

((Haha, understandable...same goes for me.))

Anais, while Christian had gone to the kitchen, had straightened, her long arms reaching down to scratch Bear's head. In the brief moment he had been gone, she studied the dog carefully. He was about three, she assumed, which meant he would have been a new arrival around the time Christian had started. As the latter returned, she accepted the bottle of water that he had held out for her, nodding her thanks.

As she grasped the plastic in her hands, she felt a chill grace her palms. Glancing down, she noted that like Christian's, her water had been frozen entirely. Her smirk faintly returned, pulling at the corner of her lips as she focused carefully on the outer plastic. Her hand warmed, and almost instantly the ice began to melt. Within a few seconds, the bottle was filled with water - a little warm, but drinkable to say the least.

"Here," Anais said, reaching her free hand out toward Christian's bottle. "I can fix that." Without really waiting for a response, she grasped his bottle and repeated the same process with his. Once the ice had melted - making sure his bottle was at a lower temperature than hers, which meant there was still a tiny chunk of ice floating in the water - she handed it back to him. "Concentration is key... or at least, that's what one of my professors told me once my first year." She grinned, adding, "That was after I nearly caused an explosion in his classroom from distraction."

Christian laughed, "Oh, that sounds like quite the story." He joked, taking a sip of the newly melted water. Leaning his back up against the wall, he squatted slightly; as if he were in an invisible chair. The wall pressed against the bill of his ball cap, causing it to slide off the back of his head.

"For being a year three, I still have a lot to learn...I guess that's what happens when you find out about being a wizard after you graduate high school, kinda takes you for surprise." He joked, pulling off the hat completely and tossing it onto the couch, where Bear had once again lumbered over to, having finally gotten enough attention for the moment.

Anais grinned and a light chuckle escaped her lips as she leaned back against the wall. Taking a sip of her water, she listened as Christian joked about being a late bloomer of sorts. He called himself a wizard, which caused Anais to stiffen slightly. That word, "witch", one that had followed her for most of her life had sprung to mind the moment "wizard" passed his lips. Can't have one without the other. The bottle that had hesitated at her lips finally came down, the cap twisted back on and she let it rest in the space behind her elbow as she crossed her arms.

At a young age, she had discovered her own abilities. She had caused many problems because of these abilities, and had tried to hide it for so long. Here, she was free to practice as she pleased, but there was difficulty in such an existence. She did not have the freedom to return home like most of the other students at the university. Home was not home anymore.

As Bear bounded back across the living room, Anais nodded in response. "I didn't have that issue," she merely stated, golden eyes watching her companion. "Even if you know of your abilities for years, it's a matter of control. The ones born with abilities can sometimes be the ones least in control of themselves." A brief smirk again graced her lips, her eyes moving to the dog on the couch as a distraction.

Christian smiled at the tall girl. She was interesting to talk to. "So," He started, a curious grin stretching across his face. "Are you going to tell me about the near explosion that you caused, or are you just going to make me imagine a scenario?" He jokingly asked, scratching at the slight brown stubble that graced his face.

He pushed himself off the wall and plopped down on the couch, pulling gently at Bear's collar to move the big animal enough so that Anais could have a seat on the opposite side of the dog. "Care to sit?" He asked, scratching the dog's ears as he looked at Anais' golden eyes.
