~Chapter XIX~
A.
Siegfried.
Katrina.
None of them had ever seen each others face but together that worked as one to put a stop to the senseless slaughterer that was Adrian Nave.
A still cursed himself for not realising how simple it was to uncover the infected's identity but nonetheless donned his shining armour, his veil of light and equipped his blade, tall and grand, eager to finish this once and for all.
He was well credited for his ability to solve crimes and as an expert Runescape Pker. Never, had he imagined that he'd be using both of them at once. As he sat in his chair at his computer, he went over all the possible scenarios, his brain whirring inside his head as he planned the following events out. He'd made preparations for this day weeks ago, but no the visual plan in his head was being rewritten and edited as he considered every possible outcome.
Before long, his hands were rapidly beating down upon his computer keys, sending messages to faceless people, the *hone was soon in his hand and calls we made. Words were spoken quickly and hushed, as if the speakers feared detection.
Once finished, A put the communication device down and leaned back on his chair, sliding a hand through his hair and sighing in impatience. One thing had buzzed through his mind and it irritated him.
A'* life depended on him playing a computer game.
"Never before..." He sighed, his unaltered voice soft and quiet as he spoke to himself
"...Have I been so afraid..."
******************************************************************************
Katrina was at home. She was single and had requested to go home from work early today so that she may face Adrian, so she was alone.
And she hated it.
The closest she'd ever been to death was when Wide Eyes had escaped and she'd been the one capturing him. But he was weakened, half dead and outnumbered.
No doubt Adrian would be the opposite, at full power and quite alive.
"But what do I have to fear?" She asked herself.

"We outnumber Adrian three to one and apart from A, we're all higher levels than him."
But that didn't stop her from trembling.
What if Adrian got a lucky hit in?
What if he ambushed her when she was going to meet with A and Siegfried?
What if...?
Dodging the blast was out of the question for two reasons. Katrina had doubts about her reflexes. They weren't bad, so to speak but they weren't as incredible as A had described his. The other reason was that over the past three days, seventeen members of Adrian's year group had perished.
None of the deaths were by electricity. Some deaths were described as horribly violent, gory and not to mention painful.
And that was why Katrina was so scared.
******************************************************************************
Siegfried was emotionless. His eyes were void of anything but sheer determination. Fueled by purpose, the desire to prove himself kept him focused. He was confident, not a single ounce of fear would even once coarse through his being.
He had logged on since he awoke, patient and calm, awaiting his associates to join him so that they may at last, rid Runescape of The Fatal Glitch.
******************************************************************************
Like everyone else, Adrian was at his computer, looking around as if expecting someone to jump at him. He was at the peak of paranoia, fearing for his life and sanity. He'd killed people and enjoyed it. Now he was paying the price.
He was twitching and sweating, walking around ingame armed with his deadliest equipment. He made sure to stick to single combat areas, terrified that if he even set one foot in a multi zone, he would be torn to bits by unseen enemies.
He wandered areas of low activity, looking for people to kill simply for the sake of killing them.
He no longer cared for revenge.
His hands, stained with blood in his eyes clutched the mouse and hovered over the keyboard, his eyes darted from left to right, alive with hunger.

His parents had left the house sometime earlier, claiming to be going out to visit a relative or something like that. In truth, A had organised that they be removed from the area, knowing that he planned to arrest Adrian at his house.
If he wasn't killed ingame first.
*********************************************************************************
And thus the stage was set. The trio of investigators spent hours scouring over Adrian's favourite worlds, for as he had his public and private chat off and due to the Glitch's ability to render moderating powers useless, his world and location was unknown.
Katrina was asking everyone she saw if they'd seen him, A was following Katrina's directions as she received them from helpful players. Siegfried just wandered the world aimlessly.
It wouldn't be until one hour later that they'd find him.

~Chapter XX~
Surprisingly, it was Siegfried who found him. By pure chance, he'd happened upon him entering the north gate of Falador.
A multi combat zone.
"Katrina! A! He's in Fally, hurry, hurry!" Siegfried almost roared into his microphone as soon as he sighted the fugitive. The pair wasted no time. Within an instant, both had their banks open and were withdrawing as many teleport spells as they could hold.
Katrina clicked on her targeted spell with haste, only to hear a distraught cry from Siegfried.
"Wait, Katrina NO!"
Too late. Katrina had appeared in Falador centre and the second she did she found an Ice Spell surrounding her. Only a few steps away from her was Adrian Nave, draped in the drab, dusty robes of Ahrim the Blighted.
As instantaneously as Katrina had teleported there, Adrian had retaliated and teleported out of Falador.
"Damn it!" Siegfried howled. "Now he know's we're on to us AND he's gotten away!"
"Not if I can help it." Came the electronic voice of A.
He hadn't told anyone, but A had his own group of followers at his side. Former clan members, friends he'd met along his travels, anyone A could get to aid him in defeating Adrian. While he could have gotten the Jagex Mods to help he thought it'd be in his best interests to get his friends and allies for this particular job.
As he did when chasing Wide Eyes, he'd stationed each of his companions at a teleport location and they were to inform A when the fugitive in question arrived at the location.
However, A had also requested that his friends do whatever necessary to hinder Adrian in his movements as much as possible.
In short, they were risking their lives to help A. Because that's how much they trust him.
Adrian had arrived in Lumbridge, only immediately as he appeared a large window popped up on his screen asking if he would like to be teleported to the spot two steps to his right.
A sly looking man in ghostly robes had cast the 'teleother Lumbridge' spell on him.

Adrian couldn't act without closing the window, but by then A was already there. But instead of attacking, A sent a voice chat request to Adrian.
To his surprise, Adrian accepted, switched his public chat on and then teleported.
"Everyone, to Fatality321's Voice chat." He broadcast the message to everyone involved and within seconds Adrian's voice chat was filled, although Adrian himself was the only one able to speak.
"I'm not going anywhere! I haven't done anything!" Adrian screamed at the army of people hunting him.
Adrian's avatar landed in Camelot, only to find the person next to him giving them a public text message.
"Allow A, Katrina and Siegfried to speak."
The fact that the person next to him was also involved frightened Adrian beyond belief. He teleported straight to the Edgeville dungeon location, only to once again find someone there waiting. Adrian shrieked when he saw them.
Adrian's inventory was stocked with a few teleport tabs and runes but his locations were limited. How could there be someone at every location he was at?
"Allow A, Katrina and Siegfried to talk." The girl next to Adrian requested, much like the person at Camelot had.
In a panic, Adrian attacked the opponent with an Ice Barrage, only to have a player in horrifically vicious armour teleport next to him.
Siegfried.
Before Adrian could react to his appearance, A teleblock spell was cast on him. All Adrian had left to use now were his one or two remaining teleport tabs. His opponent before his was a far higher leveled player and the fact that they teleblocked Adrian meant they were infected.
In a panic, Adrian cast an ice spell on him and made a run for it, only to find the Bandos armoured player had now switched to Void Knight Ranger robes along with a Runite Crossbow; Dragonstone enchanted bolts.
Siegfried began to fire, Adrian devouring his inventory with each hit of thirty damage or more. Before Adrian managed to make it our of earshot, Siegfried spoke.

"Let Katrina, A and I speak."
Adrian couldn't take it. He slammed all the gates he past shut and scrambled up the ladder into Edgeville. He set A, Katrina and Siegfried's speaking options to 'yes'.
"What the hell do you want?!" Adrian, unnerved and agitated screamed into the headset.
"Your surrender," A responded. "Nobody else has to die today, including you. You've already killed more than enough people. Come quietly and no one gets hurt."
Adrian's response was a vulgar swear word as he switched his voice chat back off and teleported to Varrock.
When he found Katrina and A there seconds later, he screamed in terror. In a blind frenzy, he began randomly casting spells on the people in the area. But of course, A had arranged that no one but his allies were around (and by arranged, he attacked anyone who wouldn't move.)
A knew that Siegfried would teleblock Adrian and that the amount of teletabs you can have are limited. A had guessed Varrock because it would be easy to flee through due to all the alleyways and two-storey buildings.
"It's over," A declared as he and Katrina charged, Godsword and Darkbow special attacks ready to go.
And if that wasn't enough, Adrian had two policemen burst in through his bedroom door. Adrian screamed and dived under his desk.
Because A'* godsword was faster than Katrina's Darkbow, he struck first and dealt a vicious fifty eight damage to Adrian. As Adrian's avatar auto retaliated, Katrina took the opportunity to 'tag' Adrian and used the Decent of Dragons special attack on Adrian.
Instant death.
But as fate would have it, Wide Eyes life saving random event wouldn't be the only miracle to happen during the course of The Fatal Glitch.

~Chapter XXI~
Adrian listened in suspense as the two police officers at his desk began reaching down to grab and drag him out. The only problem was, they'd be right in front of his computer when his character died.
Without warning, the two of them were struck head on by the electricity whilst lunging towards Adrian. They recoiled back and struck the floor with a crash.
Adrian had shielded his face from the blast and upon hearing the loud noise looked up to see what had happened. He was surprised to find both officers dead and himself quite alive.
He jumped back up onto his seat, ignoring the now deceased policemen and studied the situation.
He was in Lumbridge, lacking all but three of his most expensive items. There was no way he could remain logged in after that. His mind in a panicked state, he hastily moved his mouse up to the log out button, only to find the viciously armoured man from before punching him to keep him logged in.
Adrian fled, dashing up the stairs into the Lumbridge castle, which was quite possibly the stupidest thing he could have done because it told Siegfried that he had somehow survived being killed.
"He's still alive!" Siegfried roared to A and Katrina over his microphone.
"Make sure that he doesn't log out! Even if he stops moving continue attacking!" A demanded.
Siegfried gave chase, running hurriedly after the escaping criminal. Adrian had dashed into the Lumbirdge kitchen and dived down the ladder into the basement. Siegfried followed, but as he entered the room he found Adrian nowhere in sight.
He anticipated that Adrian was trying to run up and down the stairs as a means of stalling Siegfried for at least five more seconds.
He couldn't let that happen.
He dashed up the stairs only to, once again, find Adrian gone.
"What the hell?" Siegfried murmured, scanning the minimap desperately for a white dot. He contacted A to inform him of the situation.

"A! He's gone, he went down the stairs but when I followed him he wasn't there. I came back up and he wasn't there either."
"Did you go back down again?" A replied.
"I did, three times. He's nowhere to be found."
"He must have logged, which means we'll have to leave the rest of this to the police."
"Alright, I guess it's fo-"
Siegfried stopped mid-sentence as a column of ice surrounded him. Adrian had appeared at the base of the stairs to Siegfried's west and burst in through the door, spells ablaze.
"He's come back to attack!" Siegfried cried to A.
"Then kill him!"
Siegried didn't need to be told twice.
He began firing back bolts from his runite crossbow, constantly dealing damage in excess of thirty hitpoints. But Adrian didn't seem to care, he was eating down his food at a hurried rate, clearly ignoring Siegfried's advantages over him. Almost as if he didn't care that he died. Siegfried did take note that Adrian was eating earlier than he necessary, ensuring that Siegfried not only couldn't finish him quickly with a dragon dagger by farcasting and also by ensuring that his hitpoints remained above sixty at all times.
"Adrian!" Siegfried called silently through text, messaging said player through public chat. "What are you doing? Killing me, hell not just me, all those other people it's pointless!"
"As if you could understand!" Adrian retorted in-between hits. "Those people needed to die! Now you need to die!"
As Siegfried struggled to get closer so that he may get a hit in with the dagger he continued to stall for time so that someone could come & help or so that more police could break in and arrest Adrian.
"Why? What did they do that merited their deaths?"
"They deserved it! They misbehaved, caused pain and sadness! I needed to kill them & now that you've tried to stop me you need to die too!"
As Siegfried was equipped with Void Knight armour he still had a healthy supply of food. At the rate Adrian was eating, he doubted it was the same for him.

"Now you die." Adrian announced unexpectantly.
With those words, Adrian dashed up to Siegfried and unleashed the Bandos Godsword special attack Warstrike on Siegfried, dealing fourty points of damage and reducing Siegfried's defense by the same amount. Confused but alert, Siegfried swallowed several food as Adrian followed his attack up with several normal attacks, his strikes becoming more frequent and powerful because of Siegfried's lowered defense and range armour.
As Siegfried healed, he switched back into his meele armour and whipped out his dragon dagger. He initiated the special attack Puncture and strike with devastating force on Adrian's body.
Adrian's body dropping to the floor in death surprised Siegfried so much he dashed out into the Lumbridge courtyard to confirm it.
Sure enough, Adrian's character stood, unarmed and motionless in the centre of the castle. Siegfried began speaking into his mic worriedly.
"A! I think I've just killed him..."
But A wasn't online. Normally he'd always kept himself logged in with a macroing software if he was away but this time he was simply offline.
But why...?
"Siegfried! Confirm his death and attack him!" Came Katrina's voice over the headset. Siegfried wasted no time in doing so and began to search for Adrian's avatar.
Only to find that it was behind him, inside the Lumbridge kitchen, looting his dropped items.
"What the?!" Siegfried exclaimed. "How could he have survived TWICE?!"
"I'm coming to help!" Katrina cried upon hearing Siegfried's exclamation of fear.
Within seconds, Adrian had picked up his dropped items and re-equipped his Ahrim's robes and Ancient Staff. He burst out of the door and struck Siegfried from a distance with his spells while he was still dazed from the events past.
Because Siegfried's defense had been so greatly reduced from Adrian's previous attack, the spells struck him as easily as a hammer hits a nail.

What Adrian had done was hid under his desk and allowed Siegfried to kill him, thus allowing him to survive the fatal blast and replenish his special attack and hitpoints. He'd managed to dash downstairs and replenish his food supplies as best he could while Siegfried was talking as well.
So now the tables had turned, Siegfried was frozen to the spot, weakened and low on food while Adrian was fresh and powerful.
"Katrina! Hurry up!" Siegfried bellowed as he switched back to his range robes. But as he switched equipment, Adrian ceased casting his spells and switched to a dragon dagger. He charged and struck, much like Siegfried had before striking twice on Siegfried's now weakened character.
Siegfried began devouring his inventory of food, but was running out quickly. Adrian had used up two special attacks before Siegfried had even managed to change back into his melee armour. When the last two blows landed, Siegfried was left with one food in his inventory.
Then Adrian brought out his Godsword and struck a tremendous blow to SIegfried.
Another hit and he would die.
But Siegfried was unafraid. For before Adrian was able to deal his final blow he was struck by a pair of flying, flaming, draconic arrows.
"Took your time!" Siegfried snorted.
"Shut it, or next time I won't save your life." Katrina sniffed in response. "By the way, do you know where A went?"
"Haven't a clue. Can we talk about this after we beat him?"
"Got it." Katrina fired another set of Arrows as Adrian began to retaliate back at her. Unlike Siegfried, she was dressed elegantly in the ranged armour of Armadyl. Her defense was significantly greater than Siegfried's.
Panic worked it's way back into Adrian's system and he found his character running towards Katrina only to be struck with an Entangle spell. His character stopped where he was.
In that moment, when he was outnumbered two to one, Adrian abandoned his desires of revenge and fled from his computer screen.
