Flynn took in the man with a more considering look, the projections of strength in expression and stance spoke volumes of how he saw the group of strangers - or perhaps merely what he was used to in what life he lived. Still, he nodded agreeably.

" That they are, meaning now you stand on the same ground the rest of my brothers and sisters did when they were born, " He replied with a chuckle. " You've got a few years of catching up to do, but you've got the bearing of a man up for a challenge. "

It was only here, after Reyner spoke again, that the Black Prince realized he had yet to introduce himself. How unlike him, he mused - but being surrounded by his siblings who most certainly knew him, and he them, had likely been the cause. Putting faces to the names of the Scions was no doubt a difficult task for those who had only heard of them.

" I don't feel much like a prince either. " He shrugged, easy smile still in place. " But no, no, I'm the eldest of Queen Emilia - Flynn. Given I've not stepped foot near the capital in sixteen years I would be quite surprised if I still had a princely bearing about me. "

A moment later he seemed to consider his own words, a thoughtful frown reaching his face. His eyes glanced sideways at some of his siblings, a flare of emotion rising in his gut that didn't show on his face.

" Nor have I seen any of the others in just as long... Apologies for the quick exit, Reyner. Let's get a drink later on, after the ceremony - I'd like to hear more of who you are, but for now I need to see some of my other siblings. " Flynn gave the man another smile, clapping a hand on his shoulder good-naturedly before turning to approach another of his siblings.

Princess Adrienne stood, calmly and confidently, amidst her siblings. Her twin stood nearby, which granted her some measure of comfort around the unfamiliarity of some of her siblings. Although she was older than Prince Flynn, he often acted as her older brother, due to humans maturing faster than elves. That is, until he left the castle some odd years ago on his journey. More curious still was the return of Princess Eva, who had been presumed dead nearly a decade.

Still, for one who could easily overwhelm herself by nature of her magic, she worked to limit how much anxiety she experienced. She reached, briefly, into the room - her siblings whom she grew up with would feel a familiar small tug in their mind, while the others would still be able to trace it back to her - to get a sense of everyone's current state. Of course, this was tug was due to their royal blood, and they could choose to shut her out.

Regardless, once she'd reached into the room, whether she sensed everyone's emotions or not, she stepped toward Flynn. It had been quite some time, and the elf was quite pleased to see his return. His confidence in greeting their newly discovered younger brother showed her that, at least, he hadn't lost his brotherly care. Reynar's comment about strays irked her, she herself being a result of a dalliance (and one of approximately the same age as a truly legitimate child). She always felt guilty for that fact, not to mention her name's origin.

Still, she shrugged this aside to greet her brother.
"Flynn! It's been far too long, I almost feared the worst. You'll have to catch me and Ariadne up on all of your latest adventures. Once we've got a bit more free time, that is."
Adrienne nodded politely toward Roland, but added in a quick
"I'm Princess Adrienne, by the way,"
toward Reynar.
"I don't know what you might've heard about me, but I do hope it's largely good things."

A faint yet familiar tug on Flynn's thoughts quickly determined who next he would approach, setting aside what would have otherwise been a formidable resistance to allow the slip of magic to find what it sought. A deep warmth of pride, flickering up and down but never dipping far as blue eyes moved over different people in the room. A cool sense of lingering melancholy that seemed a near constant, albeit not very strong or overt. Curiosity, familiarity, joy and acceptance - beneath the surface of Flynn's expression lay a colourful explosion of emotion that boiled close to the top but never quite reached the rim of showing through.

And then the prince stood before another of his siblings - his smile wide and warm as he looked down at Princess Adrienne, the breadth of what went unseen known only to the pair.

" Too long by far, little Rie - but I did promise that wouldn't be our last meeting, and you know me, when would I dare to break my word? " Again the prince made use of a childhood nickname, one that mainly stemmed from his childish lack of pronunciation. Oh had he struggled with the twins' names for longer than he'd care to admit, yet there was no hint of that ancient embarrassment as he leaned in and enveloped his sister in a hug. " You and Ria have been doing well for yourselves, I hear... It's good to see you both again. "

Chloelle raises her head, glancing around her siblings for a moment or two. That same gentle smile remains in place as she carefully lifts her skirts with one hand just enough to step lightly over to stand by Reynar's side. She raises her gaze to examine him from head to toe in curiosity, before offering a warm and welcoming smile.

"Reynar, right?"
She asks gently, tilting her head to one side in a thoughtful manner. "I imagine it must be quite daunting being here for the first time. I hope you'll be able to get used to it with time." She raises her hand towards him, the strings of pearls that adorn her gown glimmering as they shift in the light - reflecting colours that shine in from around her.

"I am Chloelle, youngest daughter of the former Queen Adrianna. That would make me your sister - though I don't expect you to take to that so easily just yet. It would be wonderful if we could get to know each other so that you may feel more comfortable calling me sister,"
she introduces herself, looking up at him with a shimmer of expectance in her vibrant chartreuse eyes.

Reyner slightly nodded at the compliment which, in his mind, was pure condescension. However, even for a lord of such a small and faraway place as Wheelton, the unknown prince had gotten used to such exchanges when dealing with other nobles or appointed people. There was a song and dance to common etiquette, and particularly in high society; every encounter a battle.

George Rozas said :
"But no, no, I'm the eldest of Queen Emilia - Flynn. "

This name he had heard. For the first time a hint of curiosity climbed across Reyner's face.

"The Black Prince. Perhaps I should have guessed." he gestured to Flynn's attire. "Yes, the bards sing of your stories. Some good, some bad - all strange."

"But of course." Reyner turned, waving him exit. "I should be glad of the chance to put truth to the tales."

As the brief conversation ended, a strange pull dragged Reyner's attention toward one of the elvish women. It was vaguely familiar, yet nothing he'd quite experienced before. The work of magic, perhaps? It was easy to forget that each person in the room possessed the same blessing that Reyner himself did. He'd spent so long in so far a place that only during the visit to confirm his lineage had he encountered another member of the royal family. Thus the empathic probe would meet only a swift wall of distrust before being blocked out entirely by no small measure of stubborn aversion.

The prince's brow fell nearly to a scowl as he peered around the room for any hint of reaction from the others. Was someone targeting him?

Then spoke the woman from whom seemed to originate the strange spell. Reyner, unimpressed, retracted back to a more neutral expression.

"Many things - all good." he replied in a tone both intentionally and quite obviously disingenuous.

Before there was room for followup, a second elf approached and introduced herself. This 'Chloelle' was far more to expectation. The elegance of her dress was undeniable, and so too was the opulence which could only be found in a place such as this. It immediately reminded Reyner of something, but he'd surely never admit what.

"Reyner - that is correct." he said, his eyes meeting hers. "I trust we'll get along." he concluded with no small amount of restraint. Now meeting a second legitimate heir in this unfamiliar place, it was becoming more clear how much his invitation to this event was merely theatrical. He had suspected as much all along, but still held out hope of finding some political benefit in getting acquainted with the oh-so-beloved rulers at the capitol. On that he'd need to keep his focus.

"You don't look roadly like my other fellow." he gestured toward Flynn "Life in the palace is to your liking?"

For the short while that the others took to greet each other, Ariadne had kept back and simply observed. Although all present were here by their father’s request, seeing all of her siblings here in a single place was something that generally never happened, and she couldn’t help but be a bit wary of the situation. Nearly everyone that was important to the realm could be found here tonight, and whether she wanted to entertain notions of something going wrong or not, doing so was, in her eyes, one of the parts of the job she had placed herself into.

Briefly feeling the probe from her twin, Ariadne of course let her in. A normal, minor amount of anxiety over a social function was inlaid with concern for the siblings that were about to receive something - in the form of a coronation announcement - that they would not want to hear. She was, of course, happy that they were all well, even more so because of the arrival of one thought to be dead. What was clearer than anything else, though, was that she wanted this to conclude.

Perhaps to her detriment, everyone began mingling before she did, and it wasn’t until Flynn came over and gave her twin a hug that there was any space to talk. In truth, the one she wanted to speak to was Reyner, although perhaps the subject she wanted to discuss was better in a non-introductory setting. Roland was already talking to Evalayne, whom Ariadne very much wanted to figure out what happened to, as she had been part of more than one expedition to find the princess. How they had managed to fail, she still was not sure, but it was without doubt something she was not proud of. Roland was not her favorite sibling, though, she staying out of that for now was probably the best plan.

Well enough, although clearly not as well as you. Every time you show up is to announce some groundbreaking discovery.
she replied, a small smile coming to her lips. Flynn was one of the few siblings that she could break her habit of speaking a bit more formally with, perhaps due to how easy she felt it was to get along with him.

The Throne Room

King Yareth and his brother exchanged bemused glances, and then the King chuckled. "It's nothing so dramatic, Sir Dalhover. It's a tablet that has three different languages on it, or so I hear. All save one of the three have hitherto been incomprehensible to scholars. I've been told this might cause a breakthrough in linguistic studies."

"Besides," Prince Leon added. "All tales of adventurers bringing back magical relics from the Wastes are naught but flights of fancy. Even if such things had once existed, the Lifebringer would have scourged such things of power upon his awakening."

The Antechamber

"Oh, I don't just throw myself at monsters," Roland said in a tone of mock-protest. "Sometimes the monsters throw themselves at me. Sometimes I throw myself between the monsters and innocent people." Then, with a suggestive tone, he added: "Sometimes, those people throw themselves at me afterward"

Derene rolled her eyes theatrically. "None of us care who you fall into bed with," she said. "And can you go one day without boasting?"

Roland shrugged. "Is it boasting if it's true? I've been keeping the kingdom safe. Walking amongst the people. Spreading my name. Who here can claim the love of the commonfolk, the nobility, and the soldiers alike?"

Gallus sighed. "Brother, you are insufferable," he admonished, though there was a hint of amusement in his voice. "You know, it may do your reputation some good if you don't constantly remind everyone how great you are. People are starting to think you have something to prove."

Roland scoffed. "Bah! That's rich coming from a tourney fighter!"

Derene looked like she was about to say something else, when a servant - a young female goblin - entered the room and curtseyed.

"Princess Derene," the goblin servant said, somewhat nervously. "The King requests your presence."

Princess Derene smiled. "Very well," she said, and then turned to the rest of her siblings. "I will have to talk with you all again some other time."

Then, she stepped through the double doors, and as she did, the Chamberlain on the other side announced her. "Princess Derene Arenar. Firstborn Scion of King Yareth of House Arenar. Royal-Chancellor of the Realm. Mistress of Metal!"

The announcement had become muffled halfway through as the doors swung shut. Even through the thick mahogany doors, they could hear the cheers and applause of the great and good of the realm. Derene had always been popular; she might not be as sociable as Chloelle or Adrienne, but she was still pleasant to be around, and was possessed of great wit and intellect.

The goblin servant cleared her throat. "Princess Chloelle. The King requests your presence next."

That was how it was. The Scions would enter one by one, and the chamberlain would read off an announcement: their name, followed by a list of titles, monikers, and achievements. They had each informed the Chamberlain how they wished to be announced in advance, and each Scion's announcement could be as long or as short as they wished. At the bare minimum it had to have their name.
