The single shout was enough to send the man off balance. He fell once more, this time into the dry boat, but as he did so he jerked and the ladder flung upwards and bumped the moon. Even this small motion was enough to disrupt its orbit and expose it to the powers of gravity, which, accordingly, brought the moon plummeting down into the ocean, the cataclysmic force upon impact sent waves of gargantuan proportions outwards in all directions.
The small boat, powerless to resist, was washed under a sweeping current and thrust back to the surface. Its contents were scattered across the ocean, their cries muffled by the crashing of the waves. Seconds later the dog surfaced, minus his tailcoat or top hat, panting as he swam towards the overturned coat. All of a sudden the boat was overturned and emptied of water. The man climbed in and helped the dog. They both shivered for a while, before the man spoke.
“Where’s that cat?"
"She’s probably drowned. Cats can't swim.” All of a sudden, the dark water was deathly still and a discomfited silence descended over the area. Peacefully, the moon bobbed along on the water’s surface, looking far less celestial than it once had when it dominated the skies.

Dog and man were unable to move – their oars were gone, the cat was too. Their boat floated aimlessly around the murky waters, seemingly attracted by a neo-magnetic pull from the centre of the moon. Silence was shattered only by a strange rumbling from inside the moon itself. Both the dog and man looked at the moon, rather perplexed, before a bright light blinded them. Once it subsided, and they had readjusted their eyes, nothing seemed to be different. The man, with his superior vision, soon noticed a figure, short and fat, atop the moon, though it was hard to notice anything more in the darkness.
“Excuse me,” shouted the man, “Can you come over here, please?” The figure turned towards the boat and stopped, glancing at them before he finally spoke.
