The Meeting

The meeting had finally concluded. Steffon downed another cup of wine before he stood to leave. "I would prefer to stay and have some more of your food, King Horic, but it is in everyone's best interest that I return to Asindia as quickly as possible." With that, Steffon departed, returning to his quarters to assemble his retinue.

Telperion glared at the Balan diplomat as he walked past. King Horic wanted to continue a private discussion with all of the leaders who agreed to commit, so the Gnome stood and followed.

----

Asindia

Arishem considered the diplomat's rhetoric. Perhaps Cidius would honor such an agreement and leave the Republic in peace, but would his descendants and successors do the same? What prevented the Empire from setting their sights west, a few decades in the future, with the might of the rest of the continent to back them?

Deciding to dance around a direct answer for now, he asked, "Who else have you offered an alliance?"
Ramsay Bolton is the king we deserve.

The Sleeping Giant Awakes

Siyanthine Explodes

Last night, horror struck as Mount Syanthine, perhaps the deadliest volcano on all The Osgalethan Islands. has erupted, The explosion killed roughly 26,000 men woman and children, destroyed 620 villages and ravaged the Te*can Population. The Volcano has been long-thought extinct. Osgathosse has also been hit. The Glass dome on the Sienic Hall, in the Osgathossian District of Palye now has a hole in it. 2 elders were among the dead. Ardithitine, Our Glorious Leader has survived- huzzah! But though most of the Osgalethan government has survived, and thrived, one may look at the havoc caused by the event with horror when he sees the beautiful market district. The Market District has taken the worst of the damage, several shops have been reduced to rubble. Jamash's Javelins- Headed by Jamash- A Te*can, has been reduced to rubble. The famous Afrenius Lodge- founded by Falites Afrenius- Older Brother of Agsialtes Afrenius, the poet, is so badly damaged safety inspectors deemed that it had to be torn down Falites, who is alive is very devastated. However Not All is lost- For our Glorious Theatre district is unharmed and untarnished by this glorious cataclysm of doom and destruction. Among the Teccans, however there is also sheer joy and jubilation, because many believe that their god has returned, and the Teccans, who worship the volcano, have been throwing celebrations since dawn. Ardithitine's son- Cyrus Ardithitine is leading the reconstruction effort very effectively. The Dwarves are also excited, because glorious diamonds have been landing all over the Island for the past six hours. Many dwarves are killing each other over the thought that they might have diamonds. And the guard have been very busy keeping the Dwarven Population from destroying itself- (seriously it's just a stone)
Today, over 355,000,000,000,000,000 new comedies about the event have been written, and despite the troubles

Everything is going back to normal. For many however, this event is too much to bear. Families have been torn apart, even destroyed, but we can rest assured that they will carry on. As Cyrus Ardithitine, Supreme Commander of the Malcon Draconis, said in an Earlier interview. " As Terrible as this has been, It will get better, for more comedies will be written, more dead families will be mocked, and life will go on. With or without you." Article Written by Shamshe Osgathossian Times

Osgalethe's Hermit Crab Population Plummets Due to the Eruption
It was a quiet night in the tiny hermit crab village of Pinchville. The hermit crabs were busy last night gathering berries, climbing rocks, and running from evil bird predators, when the eruption devastated this very busy community. I was in an interview with Pinchville Mayor, and Shaman, Pinchington just before he attempted to pinch me for no apparent reason. Here's what he said "It was absolutely terrible! Me had to run like hell to get away from pyroclastic flow. pinchpinch. Me took family and ran like hell to safety. Me lost wife along way." Pinchington's loss is extremely tragic( I am shedding lots of tears about the event, seriously)! These poor crabs are in need of lots of shell-ter They are absolutely Shell-shocked about the event ( Don't kill me over the puns! I've been a good reporter, I swear! NOO!) Last night These poor defenseless leaders were also Shelled with rocks. up to 2,300 hermit crabs were killed last night, Leaving this cheerful community a Shell of its former self.If you wish to help these poor and defenseless creatures, please don't hesitate to send in shells, food, more shells, seaweed, still more shells, raspberries, yet more shells, water, etc. It is up to us to save them, they may pinch you later as thanks for helping them!

The Meeting

King Horic and his guards led the leaders through a human-sized door. King Eodis would have to stoop a little bit and King Vilkar would need to bend down to get through it. After that, they would follow him through the hallway and he would enter a meeting room.

Inside was a smaller table with some more chairs. While King Horic did not take a seat himself, he gestured for the other leaders to do so if they wished. "Sorry if it is a bit cramped." He said apologetically to King Vilkar.

"Anyways, it pleases me that you all recognize the threat these Sorusians pose. Many of you have raised some good points though. We don't know whether it is best to go on the offense or the defense just yet." Princess Derene looked a bit disappointed at these words. "So I ask that you spend the next few months gathering as much information as possible through spies and scouts. Troop numbers, fort locations, all that."

"King Vilkar, I would also ask that we hold all future meetings in your capital. Your nation is much more centralized, easier to reach, and doesn't share a border with Sorus."

"Our next meeting will probably be in a year's time, to give the other nations time to respond and prepare their armies. Any questions or objections?"

-----

Asindia

"After I hear your response, I am to head north and give the same offer of alliance to Rournic*, Adren, and the Skaiver Alliance." The diplomat answered, noticing that Arishem had dodged answering his question.

The Meeting

King Eodis followed King Horic to the second phase of the meeting, having to bent over to fit through the doorway. Horic stood but gestured his guests to sit, and the Gray king did so, why not? The host proposed to spend a few months to send out scouts and spies, for espionage and whatnot.

*Wait a year?” Eodis asked, surprised by such a vast amount of time. “That sounds like a very long time to prepare, we should begin forming war parties within a week!* He continued, the princess briefly looking at him, probably still uncomfortable by Eodis' previous plan he so audibly spoke of, and he looked at her for a moment.

“But I only think as a Gr(c)ivoth, so maybe I am pushing my opinions too much. I suppose it was rude of me to purpose a raid into that woman's territory, so I won't be advocating that much violence. I will return home with my retinue, and have a meeting with the warlords and chieftains loyal to me, and see what I can do. I should be able to amass a force of a few thousand at least, but in a year, much more, so long as those loyal to me stay loyal. I have learned much from this meeting, and maybe I can use it to unify my nation.” Eodis said, perhaps changing his mind about a sudden raid-attack.

King Vilkar crouched to clear the top of the doorway and twisted his torso such that his broad shoulders would not be wedged in the narrow space. The motion was a little swifter than one might expect since Vilkar had much experience fitting through halls and structures not meant for half-giants when on diplomatic trips to cities with populations of smaller races. His hand pressed gently to the frame as he almost “swooped* through the door to give him a feel for the space restrictions such that he wouldn’t gracelessly strike his head or shoulder.

Once in the meeting room he found a comfortable position, nodding to King Horic’s apology. After Horic had finished addressing the group, Vilkar replied, “That can easily be arranged. We have plenty of resources to accommodate the meetings in Damas.”

*One of my captain’s, Balduan, may have some men who could work on espionage; however, he will be limited,” Vilkar continued, “Half-giants don’t tend to make great spies, so he’d be limited to what human soldiers we have. I also would not send him personally as his presence will be needed in Damas.”

“I’m also concerned about a Sorusian approach from the sea,* Vilkar added, “We have an impressive trade fleet, which could be repurposed for defense, but it will take time to construct a war fleet. Sailors also come primarily from the human population in Damas, as few half-giants are willing to brave the ocean. Swimming is another weak point for us, and it makes many nervous of ships, so sailors to man the fleet may be in short supply. That being said, if we keep the supply lines protected I would be willing to dispatch a number of regiments to Dormoor to defend and free up your own armies. So long as the trade fleets are protected we will have no trouble keeping the armies supplied.”

The Meeting

Supreme Master Telperion casually walked through the human-sized door leading to the smaller meeting chamber. He took a seat and folded his hands on the table, looking as dignified as a mustached Gnome despot possibly could.

"The Drygion army stands ready, but if you give us a year to prepare, then so we shall." He stated crisply. "The Gnome army is fiercely loyal and highly disciplined, and we require less food and supply than the... larger races." He cast a glance over to Kings Eodis and Vilkar. "However, weaponry may be our one weakness. While our mines can sustain us in peacetime, I fear we'll run low on arms and armor if the war rages for too long."

"I would ask that King Vilkar helps to supply our army with weapons. Rournich and the Balan Republic could help ease that burden, should they choose to commit. In return we can supply his kingdom with needed food."

---

Asindia

Arishem pursed his lips and considered the diplomat's words. After leaving Asindia, he would treat with Adren, Rournich, and the Skaivier Alliance. Should those nations be turned to the Sorusian cause, Cidius would be unstoppable. While it was unlikely the Emperor could win over all of them, one or two could easily turn the tide in his favor.

Perhaps he could prevent that, here and now. The Balan Republic was the dominant power in the West, and if he declined Cidius's offer it might give the other nations some backbone to do the same.

Or it could push them right into Cidius's arms. Adren and Rournic* might be won over with the promise of Balan lands if the Republic fell.

It was a huge risk, indeed. A momentous decision that could likely change the fate of this continent.

"Give your Emperor my regards." Arishem said coldly, having made his choice.

The Meeting

"I am surprised you did not turn to us for arms." King Horic said, looking at Telperion. "Surely the dwarves are the best weaponsmiths in the land, and you being of similar size will make crafting them easier."

Then he looked to Eodis. "It will take a long time for the other nations to come back to us with responses. It will also give them time to recruit more soldiers, build more ships, and stock up on supplies."

Finally, he turned to Vilkar. "I would encourage you to switch to land trade, as we have done. We have a decent navy, and I have personally ordered the building of even more ships a few days ago, but it will still have great difficulty standing up to the Sorusians. If you build more ships and the Balan Republic does as well, we will stand a much greater chance, provided the Sorusian ships don't attack us first."

"We probably won't have the luxury of a surprise attack." Horic admitted. "But a publicized meeting was the best way to gain as many allies as quickly as possible. Be on guard in case the Sorusians attack first, and be prepared to assist your neighbors - even those who have not joined the alliance yet."

"I see..." The diplomat said, noticing the coldness in Arishem's voice. He looked at the other councilors in the room, imploring them to speak it out against their leader and reconsider the offer. Then he looked back to Arishem. "Very well. I do hope you will reconsider. If you will excuse me, I must be on my way. Thank you for the hospitality." He told them, a dry tone in his voice.

((I'm going to timeskip a few months here, for all the leaders involved in The Meeting. Your diplomats and leaders are back at home and have told their nation of what happened. Events outside of The Meeting are not affected by the timeskip.

As for the Sorusian diplomat, I'm going to assume Adren and Skavier declined his proposal, and if Mimring ever gets back on he can decide whether or not they accept.

I would also like to encourage you to find ways to interact with other nations, even if it is something minor that has no little or no effect on their political relations.))
