Asindia

Grand Councilor Arishem approached the Sorusian diplomat, flanked by two attendants. Arishem was a tall human in his early sixties, with dark black hair going gray. He was a well-respected statesman and had been the Grand Councilor for the past three terms (nine years). He was popular enough and was the expected winner when he first ran for office, and has remained in power ever since.

"Welcome to Asindia." He greeted the diplomat politely. He did not know if the Sorusians practiced physical gestures such as handshakes or grasping of the forearm, so he did not step forward for one. "I am sure your journey must have been a rough one. We may speak in the dining hall, if you wish." He gestured to the hallway behind him. Food and refreshments were ready in case the diplomat wanted any.
Ramsay Bolton is the king we deserve.

The Meeting (continued)

King Eodis had a feeling that his ignorance surprised half the room, noticing Horic's odd expression. The Gray Minotaur felt a rush of hot blood flowing through his face. Horic and that woman did not appear to like Eodis' plan of defensive reinforcement mixed with guerrilla tactics beyond the castle, making everything even worse. Perhaps the dwarves were too honorable to do such a thing, or maybe their natural shortness mixed with heavy armour simply did not make them suitable for long-distance skirmishes. Oh well, Eodis hid his face by drinking wine!

King Vilkar, king of the Halfgiants, spoke of probably being unable to contribute to an offensive campaign. Halfgiants definitely would need a lot of food and water on a daily basis, and they'd swallow up so much resources that it seemed impractical to send a Halfgiant anywhere beyond Londor's farmlands. The Halfgiants, however, would be useful for supplying food and resources themselves to those willing to partake in offensive missions.

Eodis thought about that. One of the greatest reasons that made Grays so good at skirmishing and guerrilla warfare, was that they could just set off in any direction and graze grass and plants raw, fresh from the earth; they did not need any supply lines. Grays could just pick up and go for it! That is, so long as there was greens to eat; winter or desert conditions would definitely require supply lines.

The Gray king figured his plans were not in favorable terms for King Horic, who did not nod to Eodis' plan for a sudden scouting mission, which he really meant as a raiding party to harass the Sorusians, who were probably regrouping and resupplying themselves after their failed siege. Now was a good time to harass them, but only if they could be found.

King Eodis thought his plan was a good one: reinforce the city, and he himself lead a raiding party for scouting and harassment of the enemy, a common Gray tactic, but a hundred Grays would not realistically be able to successfully raid an entire army. Tactical sense and restraint were not clearly in the minds of the Grays, not even in Eodis, despite his vastly superior intellect for a Griv(c)oth.

Then, Steffon of Asindia spoke, mentioned it was not his decision to decree whether the Asindians went to war or not. How odd; the humans needed permission to go to war? The Mountains of Home did not have any rules like that; if a tribe or clan wanted to go to war, they sure as hell could if they wanted to.

Princess Derene spoke about how a defensive war could be safer, perhaps having a change of mind despite her earlier disappointment. She wanted to remove the threat completely, not just harass it. King Horic mentioned that the Sorusians were spread thin and their settlements becoming rebellious.

The Rournic* diplomat spoke about a defensive nature regarding his own home. Eodis thought that to be foolish; far better to reinforce Horic's citadel and carry on a defensive war beyond its walls. Or so this was his mentality, what a Gray would do, and Eodis did seem too stubborn to accept another point of view, but he chose to keep that to himself.

(( I am not sure if I understood Emo Muslim's dignitary's opening, or if the nation is accepted, but if so, it can be assumed he spoke and Eodis listened ))

After the previous speaker finished, Eodis then said, “If their settlements are disgruntled and nation spread thin, we should go around the main Sorus army and raid villages at night. Pillage them, and then destroy the homes. I think that most humans are unable to live off the land, so we should force them to do that, make them starve so that plague spreads diseases into the Sorus armies.

I can assemble ten parties of a hundred soldiers each in total, and get them to constantly raid villages and regiments of soldiers. We will consistently move around, in and out of the countryside and enemy territory. I can then produce more soldiers in my city, Stoneheart, and also at least get ten clans and twenty tribes to join in the cause. This will give me about two thousand warriors, who will always be on the move. They can destroy bridges, burn crops, kill cattle; we can defeat the enemy by not fighting them directly.

Once we hinder their infrastructure, host King Horic, your reinforced castle will have enough men to invade the Sorus world. Capture the castles of the northern kingdoms for yourself, form a foothold to reinforce it and then, well, do whatever it is to invade the Sorus homeland directly. If anyone has a better idea, I'd like to hear it.”

King Eodis definitely preferred a scorched earth form of warfare; he did not purpose victory, he was purposing annihilation of both military personnel as well as civilians. Not that he understood the difference between soldiers and civilians; for the Grays, they were one in the same, their culture was one of persistent violence that expected anyone involved to be ready for cruelty, in both inflicting and receiving. Such military tactics would maximize casualties, but the expediency would surely pay-off, so long as enough heart was absent.

The Invaders of Tani*

The commotion caused by the clash had died down, and the giants beast lay dead. It was a small group that had yet to join Narik, but was considering the idea after their Alpha fell ill. That did no matter now because their lives were cut short.

Narik knew that the group was conflicted, and had sent Alphas earlier to watch over them. These Alphas were traveling at a walking speed so it took some time to reach the northern section of the forest. A group of 6 wearing pieces of plate armor, but there was no real uniform to the placement of the pieces and were not the best quality. The 3 that lead the group had large polearm-like weapon. It looked as if someone tried to make a cylinder of metal, but left bumps and ridges all over it.

Nearing where the group was last the Alphas felt uneasy. Usually one of the males would have came by, or even the female considering she was in charge since the Alpha died. They started to pick up pace, and at almost the same time the Alphas and Grays noticed each other.

The ground was clear enough for the Grays to charge the Goerak Alphas, who had stopped when they saw the bodies of the others. The first swung his polearm at an oncoming Gray and smacked it hard into the creatures ribs sending him tumbling over, however he could not bring the weapon back to stop a second one. The Gray had hit a piece of armor with one horn, but the other managed to sink in a bit even though he lost momentum. The Alpha had taken a hand off of his weapon to grab the Gray's head and snap it. The quick motion, and intense squeezing of the head left little to be heard from the Gray's death. Some blood dripped from the Alpha's torso, but it was not fatal.

The smallest Alpha seemed to be having trouble. He had smashed one of the Grays into the ground, but another gave him a good cut on the side; luckily a single plate prevented it from being fatal. He swung back and knocked the attacker down.

The small Alpha had two more Grays charging fast, and the one he knocked down would soon recover. He managed to grab one of the Grays, but the other dug hard and fast into his side. He fell to the ground taking them with him, while breaking the limbs of the one caught in his hand the other yanked his horns from the beast and stood up. He quickly picked up his sword to finish the Alpha, but was smacked in the back with the polearm of another.

This Alpha was the biggest and most armored. The Gray knocked down earlier, sliced at the back of the Alpha leaving a small cut below the plate he had hit. The Alpha brought his club around fast, and drove it straight into the side of the Gray's face. Seeing another wave charging he chucked his weapon like a spear at the Grays. It managed to hit one and skim over another, who kept charging. The brute decided to meet them half way, and started to charge using his arms to propel him. When they got with in range, he scooped up a gray and slammed him hard to the ground, while smacking another away. He could feel a deep cut on his arm, but did not see the attacker. Another hit the back of his leg, but just barely.

The other Goeraks seemed to be handling the situation the same, but even with the other side's loses the Goeraks were outnumbered. However, the Grays would not have seen much in this fight seeing as all of the Goeraks were still standing, even if they were injured. They started to turn to flee, and with the terrain advantage the Goeraks could possibly kill every Gray before they reached the edge of the forest.

The Largest Alpha grunted towards the others, as he picked up the clearly smaller Alpha. It was hard to tell because of their red skin, but they were covered in blood stains; most of it was their own because they fought with crushing attacks instead of piecing. The four others quickly fell in line behind the two, who seemed to be heading back to the city.

Invaders of Tanik

Once eight Grays were definitely killed by Goeracks, most of those killed having been taken down to the ground earlier, the remainders decided to flee few by few; they could not win this fight, especially now that armored alphas appeared. The Grays seemed to have seriously injured or killed a few alphas and a few smaller ones earlier.

Within seconds, the 22 remaining Grays, continuing their animalistic snarling, growling and grunting, ran away. They ran while leaning forward, darting through the hanging vegetation and low branches, causing them to sway and whip as they ran through them. Most Grays were injured, but six of the remainders sustained serious wounds to prevent them from fighting anytime soon.

The Grays' large torsos but lean limbs allowed them to be heavy yet quick, and trampled over the plants, heading for the edge of the forest. In a vastly open space, they would be able to fight better, intending to circle about and try to hamstring or chop into the hands of the red apes. Off the minotaurs went, leaving their dead behind.

The Gray armored in Goerack bones was the last to flee, but during his narrow recovery and escape, dropped his langseax; off he went, swatting aside annoying branches and vines, hoping not to get stuck in them!
