Hadrian didn't hear Lia's approach, not at first - her footsteps just light enough that his hearing simply couldn't pick them up as he regained himself. His head felt much clearer, a familiar resolve lighting up his gaze as he started to determine his route by scouring his blurred memories of where he had come from and what he had passed. He had turned numerous corners and climbed a number of stairs, there were varying other routes he could hav taken, so going back the way he had come from could lead to an exit - though the same could likely be said of going onwards. A blurred window crossed his thoughts - ahh, that may be enough to figure out where he was and how he could-

Only when Lia rounded the corner did the knight notice her. He turned to her sharply, grip on his sword tightening reflexively, before he even realized what she was. For a moment he saw only a young girl - slim, scarred across the face, perhaps only a few short years from full adulthood - but further details brought the sad realization that yet another vampire had crossed his path.

" So young... " He whispered, a flash of sorrow cracking his formerly stoic expression. Truly, did the blood-crazed monsters hold nothing sacred? Torture, imprisonment, murder, turning children to their wicked ways - how far had the cursed things spread?

Hadrian steeled himself and took up his stance, broadsword held aloft as he broke into a charge - closing the gap to slash down at the vampire. He could not allow himself to fall here, not when the royal family were out there somewhere - waiting for their loyal knight to return to their service. The girl could no longer be an innocent, not with how she carried those wrist-mounted blades, not with those dreaded fangs in her mouth.

Even so, silently he offered a prayer to a deity he wasn't sure he even believed in anymore.

Although whatever this thing was seemed to have the same moment of surprise that she did, it was he that acted first, although not before uttering two words in what appeared to be sorrow. That alone was enough to let her know that it had some kind of emotions, unless of course it was faking them. That seemed unlikely, though, especially given the nearly immediate charge in her direction.

Still, it was a bit odd. Most, if not all, of the vampire hunters that she had been forced to kill in the past had shown only anger, not seeing her apparent age as anything worth noting. What this meant, she really wasn’t sure, but it wasn’t the normal confrontation that she was used to having.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t time for too much musing. His charge was unmistakably strong, her experience in combat letting her know something simple like that almost instantly. This man, if that is what he was, was no novice. It was also clear he possessed a great deal of strength and personal power, although the blood covering him already told her that. She knew little more than that, however, and therefore felt it would be inopportune to move in without knowing the extent of his strength.

Her response, therefore, was not offensive. Enhancement, agility. Minor. was her mental activation, bringing forth a small boost to her own speed and maneuverability. With that brought forth, she dashed forward, slipping under the incoming sword charge and past her opponent. She did not intend to run, but she did want to see how he reacted, and so once past him she spun back around, eyes fully on her opponent as she came to a halt.

The girl- vampire , was fast. All vampires were abnormally swift, he expected it, he'd long since shifted his fighting style to better combat such swift movements - but this one was faster than he had expected. She darted under his attack and past him, Hadrian's face contorting to momentary surprise before falling back to his grim expression of battle. He turned on his heel, sword coming across to ward off an incoming blow- but there was no blow to deflect. Instead the vampire had come to a halt a few short spaces away, out of immediate range of his sword, and watched him with those deep red eyes.

It was not just the speed of the vmpire that had surprised the knight. To be frank, he was also surprised that the vampire had not lashed out at his side as it passed him by - with speed like that and weapons like those wristblades it seemed like an easy follow-through after avoiding his initial strike. Was she playing with him? An attempt at mockery, to prove her superiority over a 'bloodbag'? The expression on her face didn't suggest mockery, not even an arrogant smirk could be seen.

For a moment, looking at her, Hadrian thought he spotted something familiar - a vague nagging in the depths of his mind, but nothing that he could place. His luminous eyes narrowed, wary of the improved speed she had displayed - sharply realizing that this vampire was not so easily beaten like the ones that had attempted to bar his path so far.

He breathed out slowly - ignorant to the faint mist of frozen air that escaped his lips.

Then he came at her again, lunging forth with two heavy swipes - the blade sailing faster than it once would have.

Erik

Zurga and Erik did not have to wait long for more vampires to show up; The vampires came in from the next cell-block over; though they did not know Erik and Zurga were coming. Coming up the stairs were three vampires. One had a short sword, and wooden round-shield; he is also wearing rusty chainmail cuirass, greaves, iron boots, and a viking helmet.

Another had an axe and a kiteshield; and wore rusty iron heavy cuirass, iron greaves, iron boots; and the third other had a longsword, a wooden targe with heavy and thick iron spike jutting out the middle of the shield; He is wearing a leather cuirass leather greaves, and fur boots. The three were having a conversation.

“Man, why do we have to check up on Sakura? One complained. “She’s scary! Every time I walk past her, I hear voices urging me to set myself on fire!” Another laughed, and agreed, and also chastised him. You’re also scared of that half-elf teenager, whom you could probably have your way with. She's so weak and innocent” Laughter ensued from the other two.

“Typical of Lexius, completely forgetting that trapped in this cell block was one of the most dangerous opponents we’ve faced in a long time.” that vampire got a stern talking to “I wouldn’t talk about Lexius like that; He’s Balta’s son; When you are Balta’s son, you have more pressure on you than the typical vampire has. Things get forgotten in the thick of battle.”

“Anyone heard from Balta?” the easily scared vampire asked “Oh, she’s around somewhere.” Another responded. “Last I heard, she was feeding her pets; That woman’s always had a soft spot for animals. Particularly that-” He was interrupted by the easilly scared vampire; “please don’t mention that monstrosity, it scares me!” The other two laughed.

Erik; The vampires have no idea you and Zurga are coming; Here’s your chance to ambush them and get a better weapon from them. You may also change into any armor you choose

-The targe has a heavy large spike jutting down the middle of the spike, potentially making it effective against mail armor, or a swift jab to the face might be sufficient to ruin a vampire’s night

-The kiteshield is allows more room to block hits comfortably, and a swift bash to the face will have it seeing stars.

-The round shield is ideal for mobility, and can deflect sword blows pretty well, it offers slightly less room for error than the kiteshield.

Annie

Antonius was slightly taller than Annie. He looked down at her respectfully. “Yeah” he bagan “I’m him. Take a moment to eat something from my pack. Surely Vyras senpai will notice me when I feed the prisoners He began imagining Vyras giving him a position of command.

Antonius gave Annie an apple, and a carrot. He noticed Annie’ dagger “Did Lithia give you that, because a dagger ain’t going to cut it.” he asked. “A kid like you couldn’t handle a longsword very well, so a short sword will have to do.

"I bought it for Vyras senpai, but he threw out his back again trying to lift it. This was months ago. I guess I should have expected an old man of his years not to be able to lift a short-sword” Antonius explained. Vyras was right behind Antonius.

“Who you calling old? Only I get to call myself old.” Vyras said aloud. Antonius gasped. “Vyras, Senpai, please forgive me!” Vyras smiled. “When you get to be my age, Ginger, grudges become meaningless; and regrets become too much to bear. Get her trained." “Yes, Sepai Vyras. DOES THAT MEAN I GOT YOUR ATTENTION!?”

“Boy, it’s hard for me NOT to notice you with that shouting.” Vyras confirmed “Okay, Girl you up for a challenge? See those jugs full of blood? Let’s tip it over with a few arrows” Vyras continued.

Annie, you might as well get the hang of your new bow

-See if you can tip over the jugs with your arrows; it’s sure to piss off vampire scum. =)

Vyrl:

Vyral’s efforts of looking fresh bodies on the roof paid off; for Vyras and company left 20 or so dead vampires in their wake; there was also the skeleton of Lyra; In life, Lyra had been the best shot in Vyras’ squad. In death, she could use those same skills against the attackers in the dungeons. Or against Vyras’ undead minions. That Drugal had to have come from somewhere and contrary to Vyrl’s initial thoughts; Vyras did not send that drugal after him; he was just in the wrong spot at the wrong time,.

The thought of sending them after Vyras and the attackers in the dungeons was also appealing; but Vyrl had to weigh his options.

Sadly; the undead drugal died again; ressurrecting it once was difficult enough, raising it twice? even harder. For it had gone berserk again and flew off to attack Alexandre, Vyras’ best student, and Alexandre’s battalion -- Without Vyrl commanding it to do so -- The result was that as she approached Alexandre and his men, the connection to Vyrl severed and she nose-dived into Alexandre, knocking him to the ground -- A spectacular fail-- not a single one of Alexandre’s troops died during that drugal’s failed assault. A shame, because Alexandre and his men had killed scores of vampire troops. He killed about 50 vampires with his silver hammer; and fire magic, and by using hit-and-run such as, dodging and weaving into the forest.; Alexadre would charge, hurl a fireball, retreat, and do it again.

For Vyrl; he had hit the jackpot; 20 bodies; plus the skeleton of a dead human archer. Now he had to decide how he wanted to use them.

Demither10:

You have 4 options as I can see them:

1): You can send them after Vyras’ undead siege crews, as the vampires were mages; a good fireball to them could kill 50 skeletons, let alone twenty. These siege crews have been pummeling the roof non-stop. Killing them would give the defenders a little breathing room.

There are 3 siege crews; one in the forest, another in the fields and another close to the seaside cliffs.

2) That Drugal mercenary came from somewhere; the flying git must have had friends; killing them might be a little difficult given how fast they fly; but it might be worth it because fewer Drugal mean fewer risks, and more breathing room for your vampire buddies. They have a small blimp full of drugal mercenaries floating over the forest pummeling the castle with ballista bolts.

3) You are in position to send them after the attackers in the dungeons; you might not be able to kill all of them; but you can at least get some of them; after all; You have a perceived score to settle with that old man. Perhaps you could find out who the better necromancer is.

4) You could send them after Alexandre; he’s been a pain in the side for too long. He might be difficult to kill, but he's a worthy target.

The first and foremost thing that Lia noticed in her move past this individual was that the air around him was cold. This wouldn’t have been nearly as odd if, say, they were fighting outside, but the fact that she felt a chill in the air as she passed, and only as she passed, was greatly concerning. He had not done anything to indicate it mattered, but just the fact that it was there made her wary.

That was exacerbated by the frozen mist that came from the individual’s lips as they took a stance to charge again. Something wasn’t right here, and the fact that he hadn’t done anything to tell her what it was made her nervous. The strikes that were sailing her way were already powerful enough - the strength behind the swings was greater than her own, at least without enhancement - and seeing signs that indicated an affinity to cold was a problem she didn’t want to deal with.

Unfortunately, it did not appear that he intended to let her go, and for the moment she did not have a reason to try and run. His glare seemed to indicate that he had taken note of what she had displayed so far, as well; although she expected such things from a competent opponent.

The attacks came: two of them this time, and both faster than a human had any right to be. Still, they were not faster than what she could do, and the weapon he was wielding was heavy, giving her more time. The first strike she avoided by moving back, letting it sail through the air where she had been, before darting forward and toward him again before the second swing could come back to where she was.

Her attempt was to move past him again, but this time she did attack, one of her blades striking out at the back of his leg in an attempt to hamper movement. The other was held ready to strike out at an incoming hand or hidden weapon, assuming she could not dodge, as she knew she was putting herself in a possible strike range.

There - the vampire did the expected, avoiding his swings and pressing forwards to move past Hadrian again. This time she would be far more likely to lash out at him with those blades, and indeed, that seemed to be what happened. Even expecting her speed the knight could not fully counter it, not after seeing it only once, so even as he reflexively moved to the side to avoid the blow he felt something impact his leg.

Yet... It did not feel quite right. He felt his skin tear open and blood seep through the wound, yet the feeling, the pain, it was so much more... Dull, than he remembered. It felt so much more akin to cutting his finger on parchment than it did a blade slicing across his leg's flesh, a dull ache that barely seemed to faze him - this being more of a surprise than the hit itself. His sword arm swept around sharply, effectively pursuing the vampire's path past him - though whether it would even clip his opponent before she came out of range was unclear.

From the perspective of the vampire there would be something far more concerning. While her wrist blade connected with the back of Hadrian's leg, it did not tear into flesh as easily as she might have hoped. The impact would feel harder than it should have been, as if it were forced to penetrate some layer of tougher material before reaching the skin - a CLINK sounding out from the impact, merging with a slight scraping as it was pulled across the limb. Blood appeared against Hadrian's leg where she struck, but far less than anticipated.

A glimmer of cool blood would be on the edge of her blade, along with the smallest touches of frost shavings.

For his part the knight once again faced his opponent, eyes focused upon her as he tested his leg - shifting his footing and testing its weight, his expression even a little surprised at the lack of issue. The ache was annoying, but easily ignored, and his leg did not seem to be impaired.

" Tell me, " He spoke up as he eyed the vampire, sounding
