Stumbling on through the dungeon Hadrian heard many a sound from all around him - shouts and clashes of steel from far behind, screams of the dying, thunderous crashes that shook the walls - it was only a taste of what was happening. Rubble was strewn about as he delved further in, or perhaps further out? As it was the knight had no indication of which way was the right way, only knowing that staying in one place would get him nowhere - and could even get him killed.
Gleaming steel cutting across his vision, cold pain lancing through his chest - heart bursting, a wicked grin with wicked fangs glaring down-
Hadrian half-slumped into the wall as visions assailed him, his shoulders rubbing dully against the stone until he forced the sudden weakness away - hauling himself up again. He was barely in time to catch sight of a vampire coming at him with a slender blade drawn, poised to skewer him where he stood. Muscle memory and instinct stopped such an outcome, a twisting swipe of his sword batting aside the smaller blade and retaliating with a thrust of his own. The vampire was impaled straaight through the heart, its hissing silenced as the knight twisted the weapon through the organ - and yanked it free thoughtlessly to watch the vampire drop.
Where was he going? Where was he? More importantly, was the royal family alright? He needed answers, yet all he seemed to find were vampires and bodies. Another came at him, then another, then one more seconds later - each he cut down with the stolen sword and his newfound strength. The walls blurred, his ears were overwhelmed by the chaos, all the blood felt like fire against his skin - he moved through passages, stairwells, corridors, none of it registering to him as he simply willed himself to keep moving.
Were there more? There was always more. Yet the vampires that came for him seemed weak, like they were simply the dregs of the butchers - even in his confusion he culled them with narry a scratch to himself.
I am Inferi.
