Warmth. Fear. Desire.

Speaking to the dead was a transcendent experience. He felt them, in his mind, some few dozen poor souls who had wasted away in those same dungeons, and sang to them -- told them of warmth and honour, of a call to arms they could never resist. He lost track of them… two dozen? Three?

Invade. Pillage. Take.

He called them back and willed them to die again for him. The attackers in the dungeons would find, perhaps, that this rescue was not as easy as they had anticipated. If only there had been more bodies! But such was a necromancer’s woe -- you could only work with what you had around you.

Walk. Run. Fight.

Die again.

He felt them stir beneath his feet, and strode towards a nearby window. The bird too came down and perched on his shoulder. From here, he could not see into the dungeons, but he could hear the sounds of conflict. That would do. In a few moments, he would leave, move to an area with less risk of combat, but for now, he really wanted to enjoy the battle waging beneath him. Let them all die, let them fall to the ground in worship of sacrifice -- all meaningless drivel to embolden cattle and sheep. For the moment, his contempt outweighed his desire to flee to safer zones.

So he stood by a window, and listened as the dead murdered the dead.

Hadrian and Annie.

Vyras had just entered the cell block. It was a massive chamber, with high ceilings, ornate carvings, Clan Gern heraldry, and row after off in the distance was a torture rack, some poor man died upon it. Likely resistance. Prisoners moaned. A few were crying. A few were pregnant, a few were sick, a few were dying. And then Vyras observed an odd man with lambently blue eyes break out of his cell and begin pummeling a vampire’s head to mulch.

He walked over to greet the young man. It was a courteous thing to do. Sudovia may be lawless, but Vyras grew up in a generation that observed manners, unlike the current generation.. Lithia followed him, still soaking wet and dripping vampire blood, to back the old man up, just in case something were to go wrong. On their way, Lithia spotted a half-elf, half human hybrid languishing in her cell. Taking out a lockpick, she inserted it into the lock. A few clinks of her lockpick deftly raising tumblers, and Annie’s cell door was open. Lithia spotted Annie’s chain supports being damaged. She pulled.

Eventually, the chain and the supports broke and launched at the opposite wall, like a whip. Annie was free. Lithia took out a spare silver dagger and handed it to Annie, “OOH BOY YOU GET TO JOIN THE FUN TOO!” Lithia said energetically. “Don’t mind Lithia, young lady, she’s certifiably insane but she means well.” Vyras’ voice echoed down the hall “Just go further down the hall and link up with the rest of my men.” he told her.

”Such brutality… Is a work of art, Come with us, you’ll find no other way to escape, we have a route planned out, and we can help you take revenge. Don’t you want revenge?” Vyras argued. A long pause ensued and then he cackled. His disgusting yellow teeth baring through his long grey beard.

Lithia began picking the locks of prisoner after prisoner. Many of the prisoners in this block were of fighting age. Eager to free as many as she could, she would eventually free half the cell block. Lithia helped them out of their chains and led them out of the cells; but there were still so many more that needed to be freed.

Annie- it is time to retrieve your weapons and link up with Antonius.

Zurga is going on a weapon sweep in the dungeon armory; you can follow her. She's an orc that does not mind company.

You can take:

1) A Tarnished silver short-sword

2) A rotted yew short-bow and 52 silver arrows; which you can use in conjunction with your silver dagger

3) A Pyromancer's staff

You can take one of the three, because it is better not to get loaded with to much heavy equipment.

All three weapons are effective against vampires.

Erik

When it became apparent that someone else escaped within 10 feet of the possibly undead human- A Viking of all things-peering out the arrow slits, and cheering on the attackers and Vyras’ undead minions as they clashed with vampiric steel. Many of those minions were dispatched, a few were actually hijacked by vampire necromancers. Vyras took out a silver dagger from his pack and called out him. He threw out a change of clothes, and urged the viking to come with him.

“Follow me, good sir, together we can fight against the goddamn vampire menace! If a fucking 89 year-old man can do it, you can do it too; but staying here is a death sentence!” To drive the point home to the viking, he said the same thing in Erik’s language

“Besides, the resistance has cookies!” Vyras added, and then cackled.

Erik your actual weapons are not in this dungeon. Additional weapons, however, are kept in the armory of the jail, so Zurga, the orc will be doing a weapons sweep of the dungeon. If you wish, you can follow her, Zurga likes the company of men of all types, so she won't mind.

You can take:
1) A tarnished silver greatsword

2) The executioner's blood-stained two-handed iron double-axe.

3) A poorly maintained silver longmace

You can take 1 of the three.

The silver greatsword is great for long-reach slashing action, but is dull; it can still cleave through plate armor relatively easy, it just needs a good ol' sharpening

The Axe is a good all around weapon, fitting for a Viking, but it reaches a little bit less than the Greatsword

The Silver Longmace, has good reach, but it is bad against plate armor. A good clonk to a vampire's helmet will have 'em seeing stars though.

The choice is yours.

Lia

Hating vampires was one thing; refusing calls to the defense of Castle Gern was another. As she walked briskly to get her gear she heard other vampires hissed at her, others whispered the word traitor as she passed by. Eventually she got to her room, inside her room was a human vampire she knew and hated more than any other, Lexius Gern sitting at her table and drinking bloodwine. The smell of fermented blood was eminent in his disgusting, putrid breath.. The vampire was dashing and good-looking with short jet back hair, a fine black and gold embroidered outfit His pale white skin as white as the snow-buried slopes of Sudovia. His crimson eyes reminded her of the blood all vampires crave.

His features were elegant, and masculine; if only he were a good man. Beside him was a naked female human chained around her neck, and held by that same chain, like a leash on a dog. She had with a bulge around her belly, and she refused to look at the man who was handling her. She was forlorn, and looking at an iron dagger on a table. Perhaps she wanted death, but Lexius caught her staring at the dagger and slapped her in the face, knocking her to the ground and then proceeded to kick her in the stomach. “Thinking about stabbing me, human scum?!” He shrieked.” he snarled at her, causing her to quiver with fear and go into the fetal position. He kicked her in the stomach again and then brought the knife to her throat. “Don’t ever doubt that I won’t end you and that little parasite I put in your belly. If I even suspect you mean ill will toward me or my family, You will die. Such is the way of House Gern. He then kicked her in the face and left her crying.

As she lay on the ground crying, Lexius turned his eyes to Lia. “There are rumors that you are thinking of turning traitor, little missie, that you are refusing to fight in the defense of the castle? I hope for your sake, that those rumors aren’t true. I want you to check on the cells on the roof of the castle, and make sure the cattle are safe, then if you’d be so kind- by which I mean YOU WILL GET ON THE BATTLEMENTS AND FIGHT THE RESISTANCE- get on the roof and fight. Thanks, Lia. He then kissed her on the lips, picked up the chained leash and began dragging the naked human on the cold floor, and he slammed Lia’s door, and walked off cackling, and hiccupping.

Lia: Make your way up to the rooftop dungeons, and check on the cattle; best not to anger the son of the Vampire Queen

Sakura

Sakura had been completely forgotten by the guards in her cell block. She was like among the vampires, who had been too busy guarding other troublemaking humans to even consider that she might actually be a threat. Far down the vast chamber of the dungeon, outside Sakura’s dark prison cell, were her weapons, her trusty tanto and Masakari axe, and some clothes to guard her embarrassing parts- Guarded by nobody except the invisible air around it.

Coincidentally, Sakura ran into an insane elf lady with blonde pigtails, picking the locks on the cell doors. Behind the elf, Sakura saw the elf free an orc before picking the lock on the cell and releasing another orc, and then go onto the next cell to free another orc. Then an elf, a dwarf, and a human. And then the Elf ran into Sakura.

“OH HI THERE! YOU READY TO JOIN THE FUN!” the crazed elf asked,” TIME FOR STABBIES FOR THE HUMAN-SIZED MOSQUITOES? STABBIES FOR EVERYONE! VYRAS, I FOUND SOMEONE ELSE TO PLAY WITH!”

“Send her over to Antonius like all the others, Lithia!” Haegar urged her.

Lithia began playing with her hair, “YOU SHOULD GET OVER TO ANTONIUS. I GOT MORE PEOPLE TO INVITE TO JOIN THIS GAME!" Lithia gave her a bag of provisions. "SOME FOOD, VYRAS THOUGHT YOU'D BE HUNGRY."

Azi- It is time to retrieve your weapons from the chest down the hall. From there, link up with Antonius and the other prisoners.

Vyrl

Vyrl sat on a nearby perch, much like a hawk and watched the battle play out. Every once in a while a fresh boulder was sent flying in Vyrl’s direction, but it would never reach him on his perch. He watched as vampires were shot at with silver arrows, or set on fire. Such death pleased Vyrl.

Every vampire wondered when the siege equipment would fail. Vyrl noticed one catapult had been built with rotted wood, and rusty nails. Who were the idiots who built such a siege engine, and who the hell supplied the parts? How did we miss the smuggling in of siege equipment into Sudovia’s borders? Those questions were on the minds of every vampire in the castle.

Were they really that desperate? How many fighters do they have left?

Suddenly, one of the vampire collective’s questions was answered. That same catapult’s arm snapped under the weight of one particularly large boulder. The boulder crashed onto the rotting wood, and that siege crew was overwhelmed. A collective chuckle ensued for the vampires. For the humans. Less so.

Suddenly a drugal fighter flew up to Vyrl with war-scythe in hand This drugal was distinctly crow-like. her black feathers, her straight yellow beak, her talons. The only thing it lacked was facial feathers. it also had a signature red courier’s hat. This was one of those infamous drugal couriers, who delivered letters, packages... Or death to anyone who requested it - for a price.- and then she did something even more crow like, she cawed.

“SPECIAL DELIVERY FOR VAMPIRE FIGHTER!! ENJOY YOUR SECOND DEATH!” The Drugal cawed like a crow and then raised her war-scythe at Vyrl.

Vyrl: Escape the crazed delivery-crow, or engage her, Regardless of what you do,this is a three post affair, after which the Drugal will either be dead, or you've escaped it.

Vyras

Vyras had sensed a fellow necromancer for some time, and if he sensed a mage nearby, it meant that he was nearby. Sitting by a window perch, Vyras eyed Vyrl “ Antonius, watch that window and let me know the instant that fuckin’ vampire moves!”

“EHEHEHEHEH! THE OLD BLOOD-SACK IS A CURMUDGEON!” A Guttural vampiric voice echoed down the vast hall. “DON’T WORRY, AFTER YOU’RE DEAD, YOU CAN REST ALL YOU LIKE!”

With great speed, a long, brown-haired vampire charged down the hall, with speed that Vyras’ eyes could not process. With a vampiric dagger in hand, it reached Vyras, but before it could stab him, Haegar jumped in front of the blade, and stabbed the vampire, just as the vampre stabbed Haegar. Haegar in the kidney, The vampire in the heart with a wooden stake, and a silver dagger to the throat. Death was instantaneous for the bloodsucker

“Thanks for the save! Vyras said gratefully.” Haegar grinned, “Anything for you, cutie!”

Vyras ignored Haegar,

"Haegar that was a grizzly wound, I am not a fuckin' healer, but I can burn your wound closed, lift up you shirt." Haegar did as he was requested. Arcane fire coursed through Vyras' hands. Vyras them pressed it to the stab wound" smoke rose up a horrid odor of singed flesh permeated around them, but the wound was closed.

"There, you idiotic fuckin' dwarf, next time, don't get suicidal on me! Your lives are more important than mine! I'm 89 fuckin' years old!" Vyras exclaimed irritatedly.

Stumbling on through the dungeon Hadrian heard many a sound from all around him - shouts and clashes of steel from far behind, screams of the dying, thunderous crashes that shook the walls - it was only a taste of what was happening. Rubble was strewn about as he delved further in, or perhaps further out? As it was the knight had no indication of which way was the right way, only knowing that staying in one place would get him nowhere - and could even get him killed.

Gleaming steel cutting across his vision, cold pain lancing through his chest - heart bursting, a wicked grin with wicked fangs glaring down-

Hadrian half-slumped into the wall as visions assailed him, his shoulders rubbing dully against the stone until he forced the sudden weakness away - hauling himself up again. He was barely in time to catch sight of a vampire coming at him with a slender blade drawn, poised to skewer him where he stood. Muscle memory and instinct stopped such an outcome, a twisting swipe of his sword batting aside the smaller blade and retaliating with a thrust of his own. The vampire was impaled straaight through the heart, its hissing silenced as the knight twisted the weapon through the organ - and yanked it free thoughtlessly to watch the vampire drop.

Where was he going? Where was he? More importantly, was the royal family alright? He needed answers, yet all he seemed to find were vampires and bodies. Another came at him, then another, then one more seconds later - each he cut down with the stolen sword and his newfound strength. The walls blurred, his ears were overwhelmed by the chaos, all the blood felt like fire against his skin - he moved through passages, stairwells, corridors, none of it registering to him as he simply willed himself to keep moving.

Were there more? There was always more. Yet the vampires that came for him seemed weak, like they were simply the dregs of the butchers - even in his confusion he culled them with narry a scratch to himself.
I am Inferi.
