Antonius spilled his vodka, proof of some respect and comprehension despite drunkenness. His vulgarity, however, not so much.
“You would do better to respect women more, lad,” Erik replied. “The tree of life comes from women and so we, by our nature, should revere what creates us.”
Erik replied to Antonius’ question, “Yes. Guðrún, a Valkyrie, I’ve known since childhood. We wanted to marry but her father, Guðmundur, did not accept it, and her mother, Sigrún, did not seem to like me. We parted ways so I married Synnøve. My sons are Grettir and Þórhallr, who assembled a dozen longships and set off along the shores towards the Sanguine Sea for raiding and piracy. Last I heard, they won a naval battle against Ólafur. My daughter, Aríaðna, remains with the wife, Gretta.”
As they continued walking and chatting, Erik also mentioned, “...I ended up meeting Guðrún again and she joined my war band, as did Sigurður, another childhood friend of mine, brother of Ólafur, but he was slain by Sakura when the three of us sought her out in the mountains. Guðrún was taken by Sakura’s darkness. I fled to save myself, for she has brought a curse that will doom us all. I know I am not strong enough to kill her, but I hope I can find a way before it is too late.”
