Belar led Annie made their way past the blacksmith in the construction area. The area they were in was rather loud. It was loud in the living area too, but it was extra loud here. Belar didn’t bother to bring earmuffs, so all she could do was cover her ears with her hands, all the way to a tall circular limestone brick building: The practice room. She opened the door. Inside, the noise seemed to echo slightly.

In the room, there were targets, and dummies set up for practice. The proctor, an old man white skin, blue eyes and grey hair hair with flecks of black mixed in it sat at a metal desk with a cane right by the desk he was sitting at. Belar walked up to the old man, and filled out some paperwork for him. It was the usual stuff. Questions included, “What are you here to train?” “For how long?” When will you be back to clean the training room? “You doing well, Metras? Your grandkid took part in the siege did he not?” she asked of the old man. He smiled.

“Aye, and I’m sad to say he died. It fills these old bones with pride what he did leading up to his death. He freed 20 children from the eastern dungeons, led them out of the castle, only to get ambushed by that stupid dragon that was wreaking destruction on our fighters. His squad leader decided that it was up to him to escort the children, my grandson agreed, and stayed behind to distract the dragon, meanwhile the squad leader, the only one left in his squad led them to safety,” he said wiping a prideful tear off his wrinkled face. Belar was saddened. She said a silent prayer for the dead man. “I’m sorry for your loss, Metras.” Belar said. Metras scratched at the back of his head, and smiled in such a way that his teeth, all yellow and disgusting were showing. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

“It’s all right! He at least left behind a great-grandson for me, to spoil, ‘fore he kicked the bucket! I’m so used to watching little ones grow up only to hear them die in the field of battle. Also, Vyras and I, we fought by each other’s side, Belar, way back in our youth. Death is everywhere; right. Same rules as always, children: Clean up after ye finish training. We don’t want the next guy trip on the mess you gals created; limit yer sessions to an hour; don’t kill each other while training; and no food in the training area. We are underground, which means we share the same living space as rats on occasions. It is important that they don’t come here searching for crumbs, while at the same time spreading disease. Belar nodded led Annie to the training dummies. She had no idea that this old man, and Vyras used to fight together.

Belar began speaking, “Okay Annie, as I said there are three runes for you would normally need to remember for this spell to work. A great pyromancer, such as Vyras need not say the runes out loud. You are new, normally you’d need a ton of practice to learn the spell, but Vyras gave me a Flame Icon to give to you, it will help you with focus as you learn the three three for this spell: Ugnis, Apvalkis, and Dagtis. Observe.
“Ugnis!” Belar said in a quiet voice. A fire began materializing in a condensed circular sphere around Belar’s hand, before hardening into a black circular shell. “Apvalkis!” Belar said slightly louder, the shell hardened some more and a fuse lit itself “Dagtis!” Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

The magical explosive launched at a dummy. Five seconds passed, then a medium sized explosion blew the dummy to pieces, the shaft holding the dummy was on fire, and pieces of the dummy got sent flying into the wall. Belar turned around and spoke to Annie, “Keep in mind that wherever you use this spell, you risk creating shrapnel of the environment around you.

Annie: Take the flame icon. ((It’s your excuse not to have to remember three words in order to cast it ; the runes are just lore, I’m not going to force you to have to remember the names of the runes to cast any spells you learn)) Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Belar had to dodge out of the way of the bomb's explosion. A piece of rock shrapnel lacerated her right foreleg causing Belar to wince in discomfort at the pain she was feeling. She knelt, took out a rag, and tied it around the wound tightly. Then she got up and saw that Annie had somehow taken no damage.

"I'm just going to watch from a farther distance. Why don't you try blowing up that crate over there." Belar encouraged her while at the same time making sure she was covered from any wood shrapnel that the next explosion would cause. she pointed at a crate in the corner of the training room.

"Resistance fighters always find cover when tossing anything that can cause shrapnel. You can also be sure that any vampire will also find cover when doing the same. See that crate to your right? That should cover you from any shrapnel coming your way. You are very lucky not to have been hurt.

Annie: This next crate is farther away. Remember that anytime you use your firebomb spell, you risk creating shrapnel which can hurt you, your allies, and your enemies, potentially at the same time. Cover is absolutely vital when using it. Just about the only thing that won't hurt you when using your fire bomb spell is dirt being blown in the air on the open plains of Sudovia. Try blowing this crate up. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Brandr could see that Erik was not pleased about playing board games. "You seem displeased. Perhaps about not being able to kill vampires. Not much can be done about that; The sun will burn you alive within minutes of setting foot outside. As for your question. Brandr can't be sure that anywhere is truly safe, but the most of the cathedral grounds, while a mess on the surface, are secure. The vampires don't approach our cathedral on account of the leshy. The tree spirit has killed several vampires. Children are not allowed into those woods, out of fear that the Leshy will abduct them, and tickle them to death among the adults, the Leshy seems to care little about humans, but it seems to hate the vampires more." Brandr warned before continuing.

"Also be careful around the graveyard, something seems to be eating our dead. We are thinking they are Upiri. They are cousins to the Vergas, We think so because the bodies have been dug out of their graves. Vergas don't dig out bodies, Upiri care little about this war, they are concerned only with preventing the further decay of their bodies, believing that consuming the bodies of others will help their situation. What else.. what else.." Brandr was thinking. Brandr hated thinking, this was very useful information for Erik.

"If you hear the wailing of children around these parts, be very careful, it could be a Navia. mourning the fact that their mother never baptized them in the dead Lathanon Faith. If you hear it, be very careful. Navia will attack at the slightest provocation. Brandr thinks that's about it. Darius Saugokis, our lookout could tell you more.

Vyras:

Vyras and Kunigas laid in bed together, having a conversation together as they had done for multiple years. They had been in agreement to always tell the truth to each other. Even in old age, the two lovers spent hours in bed just talking. Gone were the years of sexual desire though. This conversation however turned dark quickly.

"I see, so you can't seem to use your necromancy," Kunigas asked. Vyras nodded "It could be the Necrotus Curse" Vyras admitted. "If it is the Necrotus curse, you would die after casting too many necromancy spells. This is why vampires are the better necromancers, they are already dead, they need not worry, and yet you summoned an entire army of undead, you profaned Lathana's sacred laws against necromancy throughout your life. She could simply kill you now if she wished," Kunigas explained. Vyras nodded dispassionately.

Vyras was never into the now-dead Lathanon faith. Kunigas was the only one who still taught the tenants of its in the Cathedral. "I'd suggest going to the library, there may be a book explaining the Necrotus Curse from a Lathanonist point of view. But in the meantime, you need rest..." Kunigas said worried for his husband.

Vyras looked at a oaken clock with a skull symbol emblazoned into the wood. It read 9:00 Kunigas looked into Vyras' face. it betrayed a worried expression. " You seem besotted with worry, love" Vyras nodded. "I worry about the Clan Gern response to our little siege. Sitting around doing nothing has me more stressed than the actual siege did," Vyras explained. Kunigas nodded. "You worry too much, the vampires have no idea we are living here in such large numbers, and we'd repel any assault. Vyras gave no reaction to his husband's words

"No, but it had to be done. Kunigas, love, when next we go to Vilnius, would you accompany me, been a while since we went to the book shop." Kunigas smiled. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Belar gestured to Annie. "Come. A little test is in order. There is a blockage in the tunnel that we simply can't break through with the dwarven auto-picks. I'm sure the tunneling foreman will agree that this is a good test. She turned to Metras who was away from his desk, and hiding behind another crate, apparently afraid of getting hit with wood shrapnel.

"We'll be back later to clean the mess, give us maybe thirty minutes." Belar said Metras looked stressed upon hearing this news. He stared at his sundial watch, emblazoned on the wood of the watch was a raven carrying a skull.

"9:00" best hurry back in thirty minutes. I will be waiting and watching every second pass by on this clock until you do. My back is too stiff to pick up anything heavier than the smallest panel of wood.

Belar felt guilty, Metras was old and and cannot clean up the training room easily anymore, and here was Belar about to just leave a mess for him. She knew Vyras would give her hell if he learned that his daughter left this kind of mess for Vyras' oldest friend.

"Annie. I can't just leave this man here, I'll clean up a little. This would be a good time to endear yourself to your fellow fighters. Try making a few friends."
