Sin blinks, looking back at Havoc. Her eyes take in their appearance, as if uncertain whether they could mean her harm in the future or not. But just as she deliberates, there is a faint growl of an empty stomach, and she places her hand over her flat belly. For once, her calm and cold expression turns to one of faint embarrassment, before she nods meekly at the mention of food.

Havoc's face lights up, and they finish retying their knot and bound away—only to be back within the minute with a cloth bearing an apple, some strips of dried meat and a small hunk of hard cheese, which they place beside Sin. "There you are, mate. Bad luck to start a voyage on an empty stomach, you know!"

Mercy had bought herself a dagger. It was much heavier than she had anticipated. The weight of it dragged her out of her daydreams and back to earth, where she realized the sheer absurdity of taking off with a man she had rescued from the brink of death hours prior.

Then again, a small part of herself screamed for just that. It was absolutely insane. Her not-yet-beau would certainly miss her, as would her family.

So why did she still find herself walking back to the docks? She’d run home, determined to drop the thought. Unfortunately, she’d put two other dresses of hers in there instead. The latches barely clasped, what with the overstuffing of materials and clothing.

This is insane, she thought to herself again. Mercy was on the docks now, and heard the captain barking out orders. It seems she’d arrived just in time to catch the ship as it was leaving.

“Hello, Captain Otodus,” Mercy announced, stepping up the gangplank onto the ship. She hadn’t really caught anyone else’s name, yet. “Is it okay if I belatedly accept your earlier offer?”

Well of course. I don’t have to worry about any of your problems, and can focus on all your good aspects.
” Aia replied to Groshub, giving him a wink. There was little introduction to be had there, clearly, but having an old acquaintance return wasn’t a problem.

With the captain announcing her position, one that had evolved simply due to her everlasting presence, she added, “
I am also as much the Sea Banshee as I am Aia, so please treat me properly and I’ll do the same for you.
” Some would have been able to make a connection, but she did like to make it clear at the start. Besides, she liked to take note of how they reacted, if at all, to knowing that their ship was more alive than most.

The dwarf shaman seemed to vehemently disagree with the decisions the captain made, and that was both perfectly understandable and most likely futile. There was generally little good in questioning what he wanted, and usually just going with it and learning to cope was the best course of action. Everyone else seemed to be content, at least, and she figured that it would simply take some time for them all to become fully accustomed. That was how it usually worked.

As only one other went to follow the captain’s orders and make them set off, Aia took it upon herself to do something about it. She was perhaps more ready to leave this port than anyone else on board, and it showed through the ethereal figures that came from the air and began pushing the wheel connected to the anchor cable, dragging it up from the bottom of the bay in which it had sat for so long. Similarly, hands came into being up on the masts, untying the knots and unfurling the great sails that would propel them into the open ocean.

Perhaps it was good that it took so long, for one other made their way aboard at the last minute. It was good that more wanted to come along, but Aia was going to wait no longer, and as the gangplank was pulled to where it was supposed to be by yet more ghostly servitors she made everything else that was not being taken care of ready for them to take off.

It was time to leave.

Havoc gives a start as hands emerge on either side of her to assist with her task. She coughs and hurriedly finishes untying the aft line, realizing she's actually falling behind. I must be getting a mite rusty. "Aye, much at your pardon, Miss, er, Aia, or Sea Banshee, or which-whom-ever is, uh... well, yea, very good, then. Good unknottin' work there. I can't reckon how one would run a boat without its own hauntin' now."

Hanxi saw the captain briefly--in time for him to ring a bell to get everyone’s attention. The captain mused about Hanxi while the foreigner slightly hunched towards him--respectful in his culture.

[note: Hanxi can speak his dialogue before everyone else went to deck or afterwards in the cabin with Hraldmir or anywhere that works best]

Hanxi nodded from the captain’s initial comment. “Wú nai Hanxi, duìzhang. This Leuhng Gwong blew from Beihai, a coastal city from Gvangjsih utterly destroyed by the pirate lord Lim Toh Khiam and his army of wakou, ronin and westerners.” Hanxi lowered his voice, “Although I did not see him, I heard rumours he himself slew the minister and pierced his family’s hands with wire and hung them over flames. Lim’s servants killed my family and my brother’s family in the midst of our best efforts. Winds of vengeance and a promise to my dying mother guide me for twenty years.” His hunch lowered to a bow. “I hoped that--with your experience--you may have information of Lim Toh Khiam’s whereabouts. But Leuhng Gwong are not without negotiation. I fight for you until worthy of information if you know. If not known, I fight for you with hopes to find clues until your quest is done.”

Meanwhile, the Dwarf returned and spoke his mind, the goblin finished his piss, and the captain replied to the Dwarf then fired into the bell. Hanxi was rather surprised by the lack of obedience from a couple mates.

Once things were underway, Otodus announced the situation and gave tasks to the others of the crew and things went from there on--the crewmates had mixed reactions. The Dwarf wished to speak to the cap’n in his cabin...

At a tavern across town from the docks, a man unfurled a worn piece of parchment on the bartop. To the barkeep, he spoke: “I’m looking for this man. His name is Ulysses.” And the barkeep, polishing a flagon, stared back blankly. The inquisitor waited for several moments, expectantly.

“I am an employee of the Eastwood Insurance Company. I’ve been told he’s been through this town. Have you se-”

“In- sur -ance…” the barkeep parroted, obliviously. A man of his station would have no concept of even the ownership of property, let alone insuring it. He was also a bit drunk, but that wasn’t relevant. He narrowed his eyes, and before the company man could speak again, began:

“Wot are you then, like -” he shifted his gaze to the parchment, which depicted a blisteringly handsome young man: Long, luscious dark hair; eyes that shone like justice, a Roman nose, and square jaw; pristine steel breastplate… the barkeep snapped his eyes back up to his interrogator, who had turned red in the face in the intervening thirty seconds - “with the… guardsmen?”

“Gods, man!” the employee exclaimed. “I am an agent of the king ! Have you seen this man?” He slammed an open palm on the bartop and rattled awake the only other patron, a drunkard at the end of the rail. At this rate, steam would be coming from his ears shortly.

“Bit early for all that noise, innit?” asked the barkeep. He gestured to the door with his rag-holding hand. “I’ve not seen ‘im. Now would ya kindly piss off?” He turned round and resumed polishing the clearly-already-polished flagon, and the agent stormed away from the bar.
