“We're here!” declared Neiko. She got off her horse, allowing Star to stay on and started to walk towards the riverbed. Nathan was confused, “Here, where?”
“Well to lose the goblins we need to lose our smell, so we need to cross the river. Anyways it will be much easier if we do here, for later it will be too deep for the horses and we would need a ferry across to reach Dras' Vorgin.” Neiko explained. Soon she was back on the horse with Star, and she carefully trotted into the water. Nathan followed behind her, gazing into the water noticing there were small fish. “Don't get off Badger, or the leech will stick on you” said Neiko. Nathan gazed down once more and with a horrid look saw that those weren't fish, but over sized leeches.
When they reached the other side, they walked the horses for a while, and then soon they made camp. Star gazed off in the distance, and saw large stone pillars looming near them. “Neiko, is that Dras' Vorgin?” Star asked pointing towards it. Neiko looked up from the campfire as she was drying her boots. She frowned, “No. That place is called Stone Steps, they bury all the great kings and queen there along with many other important people. Some say that place is a hideout for spirits, so no one goes near there and never at night.”
“Nice spot you picked tonight,” teased Nathan. She looked back to Nathan and gave a small grin back. Star stared at the pillar, eight in total crowding around each other. There were little entrances down to the heart of the catacombs where they kept most of the bodies and treasure. Star saw movement for a second, but before she could say anything, it stopped and disappeared. Star looked at Neiko, who was staring at her back. “That was King Lespin, the Gray King. Many people believe that his spirit creeps to the top of the pillars to try and leave this place. But he can not. I know what you say, Star but there is no need to be afraid.”

“How did you know that she saw something,” asked Nathan, who went by Star's side and peered towards the pillars.
“Well most people say they see some gray mist when they go near it, and scholars believe that it is King Lespin. He had many unfinished business that he wanted to do, but was poisoned many many years ago.” replied Neiko. “Well I'm going to sleep now, night everyone.”
Nathan soon decided to join them, and same with Star. They pulled out their sleeping bags and went to sleep. The winter nights in the desert were quiet and cold, Nathan always had to move near the fire so he could stay warm but this night was different. He stay where he was, which was quite far from the fire and allowed him to drifting into a dream.
.. "A young small girl, wove through the dream. She looked around and saw that she was being called. But Nathan could not here the name for he was too far from her. Nathan looked at his surroundings and saw his campsite but wondered where Neiko was in his dream. The young girl moved towards the pillars, that Neiko told them about and walked slowly looking around as she walked. She must have heard something many times, for she clamped her ears and continued to walk. Nathan ran towards her and started to hear what was being said. “Come child, so I may feast on you. Looooong have I seen a weary traveler as yourself, come into my liar so you may rest. Rest forever and ever with me.” Soon they were yards from the pillars, and Nathan saw that each one had a small opening that lead under it. They were dark, endless holes that were unholy even by the look of it. The young girl itched towards them, Nathan tried many times to catch up with her and to see her face but he could not. Each time he got close enough, he would be swooped backwards. But now he was getting nearer and nearer to her, and now he was less than ten feet away from her. Then she turned around .... "

Nathan woke up from his dream, yelling Star's name. He looked around and noticed Neiko rustling from her sleeping bag. “Huh?!” she cried out. “Nathan? Goblins?” Nathan quickly looked around and saw that the fire was glowing dimly. The air around them was still, and calm with no sound but the flow of water from the river not too far from them. Nathan quickly moved towards Star, and finally noticed she was gone. Small footprints were seen heading towards .... the Stone Steps.
Nathan ran to Badger, and woke him up by getting on him. He quickly kicked the horse to head towards the Stone Steps, Neiko ran after them. “What's going on?!” Nathan rode as fast as he could towards the pillars as he followed the small footprints. When he was just a mile away from them, he saw a small figure, dragging towards the Stone Steps. Star thought Nathan, and he pressed Badger harder to reach her. The white figured soon drifted closer and closer, and the first thing that Nathan noticed was the long white shirt that he gave to Star, to sleep in. Though it was cold at night time, they could not sleep cause in the morning it would be dreadfully hot by the time they woke up. Star was dragging her feet, and was slowly walking as if she was asleep. Nathan rode up to her, and picked her up without even stopping Badger. Star started to struggle a little bit, but then lost her energy after a while. Nathan rode towards his camp, noticing that Neiko was saddling her horse and getting ready to travel after Nathan. “You could have waited!” she declared.
Nathan put Star down, and she started to run back to the Stone Steps. Nathan got off Badger and ran to her easily catching her and then picking her up. Nathan had a little patience and as he had to watch her struggle him his arms, he struck her across the head and she feel unconscious. Neiko looked at Nathan in great disgust and yelled, “Are you mad?! You just hit her out cold.”

Nathan looked down on the small figure that was Star. She laid on the ground breathing softly and calmly but Nathan knew better that she will be in pain when she awakens. Nathan thought about exactly what he just did, and then knew that he had done the right thing. “It wasn't my fault,” Nathan said quietly. “It's those damn pillars! They affected her somehow. I'm telling you, I looked exactly where she was looking and I did not see anything.”
“Are you seriously mad? Now your talking about spirits, how the hell could you, Nathan.” Neiko got off her horse now and walked over to Star's side. She placed a wet cloth on her head, and Nathan saw from the fire's light that Star had a large bump on her head. Neiko was dabbing with a wet cloth.
“Neiko, your going to think me to be crazy but I think that Star was possessed. Before Claire was pierced by an arrow, when she rode after us. She was going to die, but Star ... healed her. I don't know what happened, I swear it but one minute the wound was there, the next it wasn't. Now she's moving towards the a cemetery?” explained Nathan. He was finally releasing his internal secrets and now he started to feel much better. Neiko watched him with a calm mellow face, her eyes sparkling with the fire.
“Nathan, I wish you told me that earlier for then I would have avoided the Stone Steps, but now I fear it is late. We need to watch over her, Nathan. For now not only the living but also the dead will search for her approval, I just hope that she will make the right decisions in the future. Till then, we must do all that we can.” Neiko explained, and with that she pulled back into her sleeping bag, with Star next to her and fell asleep.
Nathan did the same but could not help, letting his mind to wander off. Soon his thoughts kept him awake for the rest of the evening. Though the sun was shining from the edge of the desert, he couldn't help and think, will light shine over them once more.
