This one is pretty good (I think). I made it a bit ago.
----
I glanced around at the trees, it was noon already and still Detan hadn't showed up.
I guess I should explain why I was here, waiting for death, more or less. We were scheduled to fight a duel, and by 'we' I meant myself, and the best mage and most rotten human being I had ever known. The duel was to have taken place at eleven-thirty, but, knowing my opponent, he was just trying to mess with my mind by coming late.
Finally the bushes by the clearing trembled and split apart, revealing the man I was to fight. He swaggered up to me, a stupid grin on his face and smelling of dead things.
He leaned over to kiss me and I jerked away, my belly turning with disgust.
"Cut it out!" I yelled at him, voice quavering in spite of myself.
"Ohhh, is the poor little girl going to cry?" he taunted, whirling his oaken staff above his head.
I screamed something obscene at him and cast a Wind spell that flew from my hands, chilling them.
He sidestepped, avoiding the swirling white ball while still wearing a smile. "That was pitiful, Filiana, you know better magic then that, surely?"
He let fly a Water spell that I managed to avoid by falling to the grass. It whipped over my head, splashing on a tree behind me and making water gush everywhere, drenching my blue robes.
I jumped back up, returning the favor via two Ice Blasts that went straight for him, their deadly power chilling the clearing. He doged the first...
And put himself right in the path of the second. It hit him, shards of ice flying around his body like knives. Quickly, before he recovered, I threw another Ice Blast, putting all my power into it.
I never saw the Mist Wave.
Suddenly something damp and wet smacked into my thigh and tendrils of fog began to rise around me. Soon I couldn't see the clearing anymore, and began to flail about in hopes of dispersing the cloud.
