Orcris watched her go, silently hoping that whatever the apothecary gave her would sedate Rose as much as it had Cruus. His thoughts were interrupted as a familiar voice exclaimed, “Ah, good, you’re here!”

The Zarosians found themselves facing Caihoc, who now stood in the doorway leading deeper into the fortress. “I trust you had minimal difficulty getting here? Good! Now, we have much to discuss.

Firstly, I’m sure you noticed, the Stone of Jas has been moved, I have our intelligence teams working on it every waking hour, but as of yet, we have not located it.”

“Ah, great, your intelligence teams,” laughed Rue, “A whole bunch of humans trying to gather information, I imagine that’s working well for you. Tell you what, Caihoc, send one of my kin out, you’ll have your information before dawn tomorrow.”

Orcris noticed Caihoc clench his fist, but the warlock remained composed, “Rue, I have asked you not to interrupt me countless times,” he said, forcing himself to remain calm.

“Oh, what are you going to do?” asked Rue, “Start a fight with me here? You must be joking, my men are more loyal to Isamu and myself than they are to you, and even if they weren’t, do you really think you could take me? Please remember Caihoc, emissary of Zaros or no, that I am the sub-commander of this fortress; while here, you listen to me.”

Caihoc made a step forward, the beginnings of a spell on his lips. Orcris was about to intervene, when Rue’s form shifted, his body sprouted a pair of leathery wings and a tail similar to those of his brother, and various markings made with what seemed to be red paint appeared on his skin. With a fluid motion, Rue unraveled his Abyssal whip and swung it toward Caihoc. Rather than behaving like a normal whip would, Rue’s seemed to moved with a will of its own, stabbing its tip into the warlock’s side before tearing itself free along with a chunk of Caihoc’s flesh.

The old man groaned and collapsed, the spell on his lips falling to pieces before it was complete. Seeing his enemy down seemed to urge Rue on and he quickly brought his whip up for another swing. However, before Rue could bring his whip down, a young man with pale skin, white hair, and cold grey eyes seemed to materialize behind him, and grabbed Rue’s hand.

“That’s enough,” the man sighed, “You two are not children, so stop behaving as such. However, Caihoc, you are older and wiser than Rue, I would expect you not to start a fight with an Asura when on his home turf. Especially since you know that Cruus is the weaker of the two brothers, and yet he managed to eliminate ten of our elite black ops before we could launch a successful attack.

As for you, Rue, I’m disappointed in you… There was no need to try getting another attack in after Caihoc was down.”

To Orcris’ surprise, Rue actually had the same look that a scolded child would as he apologized.

“Well, having dealt with that, I should introduce myself,” said the young man, “I am Isamu, commander of this fortress, and it is my pleasure to act as your host. Since Caihoc has been injured, I will suggest that you stay the night here; dinner and proper sleeping arrangements will be made of course, and you may set out first thing in the morning.”

“Set out for where?” asked Orcris.

“Tenedra Marsh,” replied Isamu, “We believe that one of the seals lies there; you shall be further updated in the morning. As for right now, Rue and I will be heading to bed, ask any of the slave drivers around the fortress if you need anything, and they will see to it that one of our slaves takes care of whatever you need. Oyasumi.”

“What was the last thing he said?” asked Orcris, after Isamu had left the room.

“Oyasumi,” replied Taika, “In his native tongue, it means "good night". Well, we should get settled in, it seems the old man will take care of himself.”

Looking around, Orcris noticed that Caihoc had disappeared.

“Well, I’ll see you around,” said Taika, “Oh, and Orcris, trust me, you don’* want to visit the dungeon, you’ll get sick.”

“Alright,” muttered Orcris, unsure what to make of Taika’s latest statement.

As Taika walked away, the half elf pushed it from his mind, and set out to find his dinner.

Lord Tobytwo, I'm afraid I'll have to disagree.

*SPOILERS FOLLOW READ AT YOUR OWN RISK*

In the ghost robes mini-quest (can be done after Desert Treasure if you keep the Ring of Visibility), you are told how Zamorak became a god, and to do so must follow the leads from one ghost to another, gathering information as you go.

The first ghost you speak to is that of a Saradominist who found the Staff of Armadyl. He clearly states that he thought to use the staff in order to end the stalemate between the empty lord (Zaros) and the coalition of other gods, including his deity, Saradomin. He also speaks of Armadyl as an ally, and says that if Saradomin thought that the staff of Armadyl was too powerful for mortals, he would return it.

In fact, as one speaks to the various ghosts, one becomes aware that Zaros sprung to power quickly, without the other gods noticing, and that an alliance between various gods was thrown together in order to defend against Zaros' invasion. Armadyl and Saradomin are indicated to have been prominent deities leading the defense efforts.

In fact, Zamorak was aided by a Saradominist mage who cloaked the presence of the staff so Zamorak could sneak it into Zaros' main fortress, ultimately allowing Zamorak to fight and (by sheer luck) defeat Zaros.

In doing so, Zamorak absorbed some of Zaros' divinity, and was subsequently exiled by the gods opposing Zaros (including Armadyl and Saradomin.) While Zamorak was gone, the forces of Saradomin and Armadyl sought to defeat Zaros' many followers once and for all.

Years later, with the help of the Stone of Jas, Zamorak became a full deity and gained the allegiance of many of Zaros former followers, who, being hunted down by the other deities, needed a god of their own to aid them in battle.

Under Zamorak's leadership, the former forces of Zaros pushed back and managed to at least hold their own until Guthix's awakening.

*BUMP*

Hey Aqua, just reminding you that just because people don't post dosen't mean they don't read it. Been following this story for a few weeks now. Love what you did with the pranquiwhatever race.

EDIT: Ya'know, you could contact Jagex and maybe get to write a new book for their store. You most likely wouldn't be able to ramake the Black Pentagram or something like that, but I'm sure you could come up with something.

Orcris sat up in bed, groaning quietly. It was tempting, oh so very tempting to lay right back down, cover himself with the silk sheets, bury his head in the ridiculously soft pillow, and fall back to sleep. After all, who knew when the next time he slept in a bed would be? Yet, something inside him, honor, perhaps, kept him from drifting back into a comfortable sleep. Groaning again, he pushed himself out of his ever so tempting bed, grabbed his sheathed sword, and walked out of his room.

The darkened halls seemed deserted; the lack of an immediate threat coupled with the sturdy build of the fortress seemed to remove the necessity of any night guard larger than what it took to man the watchtowers and outer walls. Orcris breathed a sigh of relief, this was going to be easier than he had thought, however, a moment later, he grasped the hilt of his blade.

“Come out,” he said, tightening his grip, “I know you’re there.”

A little ways behind him, someone chuckled softly and stepped into a beam of moonlight coming in from one of the small windows in the walls. Orcris had a hard time suppressing a gasp, the person following him was none other than Isamu.

“Few notice me when I don’* want them to, you are very astute, Orcris,” said Isamu, breaking into a smile, “You can release that sword now, since you know that the only one nearby is an ally… or perhaps that is why you have your sword ready?”

“Are you implying something?” asked Orcris, who nonetheless released his blade.

“You are very honorable, Orcris,” said Isamu, “Yet you are also cunning and powerful, so even with honor weighing you down, so to speak, you are still a very effective warrior… in fact, you may even be the type of person fit to become one of Zaros’ knights.”
