“Your meal,” said Selene, “I assume you understand what I mean by that.”
“Ah, so the elves have heard of that,” said the mage, *I’m surprised.”
“Don’t worry,” replied Selene, “Most elves haven’t, I however, am well traveled. Oh, and we haven’t been introduced have we? I am Selene.”
“Wait,” said the mage, his eyes wide, “Are you THAT Selene? The famous elvin mercenary?”
“Oh, so you’ve heard of me?” asked Selene.
“Is there anyone who hasn’t?” asked the mage, “You’re practically a living legend! Actually, um, if you aren’t busy… there’s a certain mission I need to get done, but I don’t think I’m strong enough for it… If you help me, I’d be able to pay you well for it…”
“What kind of job is it?” asked Selene.
“Um, well,” said the mage, “Recently, Zarosians have been destroying important seals…In fact they destroyed one shortly before I found you in the forest… Anyway, some of them are heading for one of these seals called “The Mists of Time” I was hoping to head them off and stop them from destroying that one.”
“How much?” Selene asked nonchalantly. Of course, she had been planning to go after the Zarosians anyway, but if it would get her more pay, there was no need for the mage to know that.
“Will this do?” asked the mage, tossing her an envelope, which Selene opened to find a bank note for five hundred thousand gold pieces.
