“Will you be able to beat him?” asked Caihoc, “He seemed pretty powerful last time, and he even destroyed your sword.”

“Oh, but I’ve been learning quite a few tricks,” commented Orcris, “And I’ve been going over his strategies in my head; I believe I have found his weaknesses.*

*Reassuring,” sighed Caihoc sarcastically, “Just try not to get killed, okay?”

“If we are done flapping are lips over there,” shouted the Zarosian’s guide, “Could we get a move on?!”

“Wow, he’s cranky,” muttered Taiyama.

“But, he’s also right,” Caihoc pointed out, “Let’s hurry and finish this up.”

Taking that as his cue, the Zarosian’s guide opened the massive red doors that stood before them, and the Zarosians entered the temple’s sanctum. They were met with the sight of a room whose walls and ceilings seemed to be ever changing within a swirl of colors. In the center of this room was what appeared to be a ball of rapidly whirling wind.

“Well, well, well,” said the Zarosian’s guide, “It has been a while, hasn’t it, Rhyn Brona?”

“Rhyn Brona?” repeated Seth, turning to Aquaregis, “Do you know him, Aquaregis?”

“How could he forget me?” asked the guide, appearing next to Seth and Aquaregis, and grabbing the latter by his shirt.

Aquaregis’ eyes widened. “That voice…” he gasped, “Then… oh no.*

*Ah, you do remember your old master after all,” commented the guide, “Give me a moment, so I can return to my normal form, my dear little apprentice.” As he said this, the guide’s face morphed into that of a skull with glowing red eyes and a gem embedded in its forehead.

“A mahjarret!” exclaimed Soul.

“Ah, you finally noticed, you follower of the traitor Zamorak!” exclaimed the mahjarret, “Indeed I am as you said; a mahjarret, if you wish you may even inform your master; tell him that Sliske has begun to make his move, and watch your false god quake in fear.” Turning back to Aquaregis, Sliske continued, “Now, I will say I am surprised; you overstep your bounds little apprentice; this toy you have been using is made by mahjarret magic is it not? Magic that little cambions ought not to use.”

“Cambions?!* exclaimed Caihoc, “Lord Sliske, is Aquaregis really a cambion?”

Sliske shot Caihoc a disdainful look before answering, “Aquaregis? It is better to call one by his name than his title, or were you unaware that Aquaregis was not his name? Regardless, the boy you call Aquaregis; whose true name is Rhyn Brona, is indeed a cambion, however what I am holding by the shirt right now is not Rhyn Brona; although it is acting as Rhyn Brona, and Rhyn can see, hear, and feel what this thing does. This thing is a puppet made with mahjarret magic, and is easily eliminated with a simple magic canceling spell like this.” Sliske made a motion with his hand, and Aquaregis crumbled to dust.

“What in Zamorak’s name?!” exclaimed Soul.

“Like I said,” Sliske sighed, “A puppet created and sustained by magic, dangerous, unless you cancel out its magic or it runs out on its own. Now, where was I? Oh yes, the Winds have to be destroyed. Hmm, yes, the brothers should do…”

“The brothers?” asked Selene.

“Yes, these brothers!* exclaimed Sliske, spreading his arms. As he did this, there was a clap of thunder and five warriors appeared. “I’d like you to meet Ahrim, Dharok, Guthan, Torag, and Verac, five brothers who sold their souls to me in exchange for power; they will be your opponents today.”

Seth, Soul, and Selene exchanged questioning looks, causing Sliske to add, “Oh, I see you’ve heard about these brothers! So now you must be wondering “where’s Karil?” in answer to that…” Sliske motioned with his hand and several bolts flew toward the three warriors opposing him, all of whom managed to dodge the incoming bolts. “You see,” said Sliske, “Karil is nearby, but he, like me, prefers to fight from the shadows. Good luck, foolish warriors!”

As Sliske finished speaking, Ahrim sent a wave of fire at the three warriors while Dharok, Torag, Guthan, and Verac charged into the fray.

“Sliske!* exclaimed Orcris, “I wanted to handle that Seth kid!”

“You can settle any personal disputes after we destroy the Winds,” replied the mahjarret, “I doubt those three will fall to the brothers. However, while they are occupied… Caihoc if you will.”

“But of course, Lord Sliske,” said the warlock, turning his attention to the Winds.

The three warriors were indeed holding their own against the brothers, and as Selene knocked Torag aside she noticed Caihoc standing in front of the Winds.

“Gastcwalu!” exclaimed the elf.

“What?” asked Soul as he parried Dharok’s axe.

“Wow, she has some mouth,” commented Orcris.

*What’d she say?” asked Taiyama.

“Just be glad it was in elvish so you don’t have to know,” Orcris replied.

At that moment, Seth managed to decapitate Guthan, and dodging a barrage of bolts, charged at Sliske, slashing at the mahjarret’s skull. Unfortunately for Seth, Sliske was too quick, and after sidestepping the attack, plunged a dagger into Seth’s side.

“I will say,” said Sliske, “That was impressive just now, but a mere mortal is no match for me.”

“Jigoku e ike, kisama,” spat Seth.

“Was that elvish too?” asked Taiyama.

“Not any dialect I know,” replied Orcris, “But judging how he said it, it was probably some form of swearing.”

“There!” Caihoc suddenly interrupted, “It’s done!”

Moments later, the Winds of Change imploded in on themselves, and began to gather energy.

“This seems familiar,” sighed Caihoc, “Let’s get out of here!”

Without waiting to be told again, the other Zarosians, except Sliske, followed Caihoc.

The mahjarret stood in the temple for a moment more, teleporting the brothers out before he too escaped.

“I can’t believe they succeeded,” grumbled Soul as he ran for the door.

“I want to know how they even got in here while there’s still a fight going on outside,” added Selene as she helped Seth to his feet. “And Seth,” she added, “You have some answers to give about your friend once we get out of here.”

Outside, the armies had simply stopped fighting, watching in awe as energy gathered into the temple where the Winds had rested. Before any of them could react, a massive explosion tore through the wilderness, knocking all the troops off their feet. Even as far south as Falador and Draynor, strong tremors resulting from the explosion could be felt.

There, end of chapter 3 (33 pages on MS Word and 11k+ words.)

There might not be an add tomorrow since I need to write the outline for Chapter 4 (However, feel free to check). There should definitely be another on Friday.

Lucien certainly does have a gem in his forehead, but that doesn't mean he's the only one... Anyway, I'll add later today (I promise.) "He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."

CHAPTER 4-CAMBION

Iban’s eyes scanned the field in front of him. With the Winds destroyed, there wasn’t really a point to their battle, so both armies had simply stopped fighting and began to disperse, with the exception of a few stragglers who had hung behind to bury, cremate, or transport the dead.

“This wasn’t enough for you, was it?” a girl’s voice asked.

Iban turned, and found himself staring at a girl in her early teens with flowing blonde hair and blood red eyes. The Kinshra blinked in spite of himself; the girl seemed out of place among the carnage of the battlefield.

“Come on, Iban, he’s waiting for you,” said the girl.

“Who is?” asked Iban.

The girl simply smiled and turned away, walking toward the ruins of the temple where the Winds had been. It took only a moment for Iban’s curiosity to overcome his caution, and soon he found himself following the girl. Pausing only a moment to make sure Iban was following her, the girl entered the ruins, and deftly navigated her way through the rubble and collapsed hallways until at last she reached the destroyed doorway which had marked the entrance to the temple’s inner sanctum, where the winds had been held.

“Inside,” she said, motioning to Iban. The Kinshra paused for a few seconds, then complied. He found that the room was still mostly intact, but had small groups of flames burning in random places. He was so distracted by the flames he took nearly a minute to notice the lone figure standing in the center of the room. When he did finally notice, the Kinshra stared in shock; the figure was a lone warrior, clad in red armor, leaning on a massive battle axe that seemed large enough to split a hill giant in two with one stroke.

“Iban,” said the warrior, his voice hollow and radiating with power, “What do you desire?”

Iban flinched against the voice; but still managed to reply, “Power.”

“Power?” repeated the warrior, “How much power, enough that you are the greatest warrior alive?” The warrior paused for a moment, then continued, “No, you might mislead others to believe it, but the power you want is the power to dominate anyone. You don’* want to just be able to best any opponent in battle, you want to be able to control them, mind, body, and yes, you wish to control even the souls of others.”

Iban paled. What the warrior had said was true, but Iban had never told anyone this, he hadn’t dared.

“But you realize,” said the warrior, “That even such a desire is the height of blasphemy. Not even the gods themselves can control the souls of others!” The warrior laughed, “Ah yes, such wonderful blasphemy you have committed Iban! The same blasphemy as that which the Void King committed, the darkest and most vile sin! And yet… I can tell, you are not ashamed of this, rather you are pleased with this achievement, how incredibly delightful, you have scorned the world, all others, and even the gods themselves, and you relish the fact!”

“Yet you are even wickeder than I,” commented Iban, “For while I delight in my own evil, you delight in the evils of others.”

“You have spoken truly,” said the warrior, “But come now, if your desire is more than a fanciful dream, then let us fight! For I have power I would give you if you prove yourself.”

“But of course,” Iban laughed, “My blood’s been racing since I noticed you; it has been a long time since I met a worthy opponent.”

“Then let us end this idle chatter, and let our weapons talk for us!* exclaimed the warrior, charging at Iban and swinging his axe. Iban parried the attack, but was still thrown to the ground by its force. Without waiting for the Kinshra to stand, the warrior charged again, Iban however, was too agile, deftly dodging the warrior’s attack, and stabbing at the joints in the warrior’s armor. Iban’s sword succeeded in piercing the warrior’s leg, but without even pausing, the warrior slammed the hilt of his axe into Iban’s head, causing the Kinshra to collapse onto the ground. As Iban scrambled to get back up, the warrior placed the edge of his axe at the Kinshra’s neck, and proclaimed, “It’s over.” Not willing to accept defeat, Iban attempted to stab his sword through the visor of the warrior’s helm. In response, the warrior calmly hacked off one of the Zamorakian’s arms with a swift stroke.

“Not bad,” said the warrior, “You are more persistent than most of the people I’ve fought, and you even managed to draw blood; that hasn’t happened to me in... well, only the gods know how long. Here, as a reward…” The warrior picked up Iban’s severed arm and moved it back to the still bleeding stump where it had originally been attached. To Iban’s surprise, his arm reattached itself in a movement of sinew and muscle.
