Anabel then began poking curiously around the dancing clone. She drew closer, then even closer. Her eyes scanned every detail, seeing a very convincing replica of the king. "This is amazing," she complimented, she then began to lightly laugh her nerves off. "Seriously, I had the compelling urge to stab this guy in the face!"

"I-it's not really much," Daevarro replied, rubbing the back of his head.

"Yes, it is," she quickly responded to Daevarro's humble words, gazing back at the young man. "How did you manage to acquire this kind of power anyway?"

Daevarro looked away, peering out the window and into the blazing sky. It took him a moment for his words to come into fruition, the days of his life flying in his head. With his focus taken off of his shadow, the Balor then began to disappear. From head to toe, he disintegrated into thin air. "...They just sort of came to me one day," he answered, his voice low-toned.

"...I see," she said, realizing that those shadows seemed to be tied to a subject Daevarro would rather avoid.

As the silence continued, Daevarro quickly spun his head over to Anabel. "...How did you know I was here, anyway?" he asked, curious.

"Oh, I'm pretty good at finding people," the ex-assassin gloated, smiling. But then her smile turned to stone, becoming a more serious look. She then looked around, peering upon this hollow household. "It's a pretty sad place, isn't it? To have a perfect life and then for it to be stolen from you. I can't imagine what these people had to have gone through..."

Anabel sighed. "I suppose we're lucky in that sense," she continued, looking down at the ground. "We were born into this. We may not know what freedom feels like... but we certainly don't know what it feels like for it to be taken away."

Daevarro shook his head, his eyes falling from Anabel. "Yeah," he mumbled, he then turned to her. "Why are you here anyway?"

"Oh!" Anabel responded, snapping out of her illusion. She then looked over at Daevarro. "Um... we have a mission, actually."

"What is it?"

"We're to pay Master Raphael a visit," she answered, then holding up an envelope with a purple seal with the emblem of a dragon upon it. "and deliver him this message."

"Oh, okay," said the young man, sitting up from the bed. "Let's... get..." His voice grew more quiet with each word until it just flatout fell into dead silence.

Anabel's concern was captured on her face, her eyebrow rose. Daevarro stared with disbelief, slowly stepping forward. "Daevarro...?" she named as he walked by her. He stared out the window, being just in front of it. He didn't respond to her, adding to her worries. "Daevarro, what's wrong?"

"Look..." Daevarro muttered with horror.

She turned to look at what was behind her, gazing upon the darkening sky. And she could not believe her eyes, the image of pluming smoke and orange-red embers fluttering into the area reflected off of her eyes. Her mouth hung agape, her heart sinking into the pits of her stomach. "H-HQ is that way...!" she frightfully exclaimed, stating a nightmare.

The two had the exact same thought simultaneously, both of them bolting as fast as they could. They ran, rushing through the decrepit building with swiftness. They assumed the worst as they ran, blasting through the house's door and poured out onto the equally dilapidated street. With their heartbeats heavily drumming away in their chests, their pants appeared vividly in front of their mouths.

They were like a blur as they darted by building after building, cutting any corner if it meant getting back there quicker. Running through the echoes of the past, they could only hope and pray that they were wrong and that they were only jumping to conclusions. But indeed... they were proven to be true. The smoke and flames consumed everything in their way... eating away all the memories.

The two simply couldn't believe their eyes. A question plagued their minds, "how did they manage to find us?" Truly, this question's answer eluded them like the cure to an unstoppable blight. Without anymore thought, the two rushed into the building, into the fire and flames. As soon as they stepped into this blazing inferno, they were immediately greeted by corpses.

They were ankle deep in the bodies of the men and women who fought so valiantly against their oppressors. Some had lost limbs, some had their throats slashed, and others were simply stabbed. Their blood had turned the floor red, it was nothing but a room full of death. As wild flames of scarlet began to consume the room, Daevarro and Anabel just stood there with a breathtaken expression.

The two simply couldn't believe their eyes, wishing it were all just a figment of a horrific night terror. Anabel just didn't know what to think, her eyes filling with water. "No..." Anabel uttered in complete devastation.

As the flames turned the world into a bright orange, one body lived among the dead. He sat there against a wall, clenching a very grave wound. "An-Anabel..." he very weakly mumbled, his voice flooded with anguish.

Daevarro was able to hear this calling very clearly, turning to the source of the sound. Daevarro pointed over to the man. "Anabel, look," Daevarro said.

She then jolted her head over in that direction, seeing a man living. The two then ran at lightning speed over to him. "Mister Oscar...!" she named as she ran over. Anabel and Daevarro then knelt down beside him. The two then saw the gruesome wound inflicted upon the short-haired man. He was not long for this world. "Mister Oscar, what has happened!?"

"They've found us..." he spoke, bringing a lapse in his very shallow, hoarse breathing. "...They're... They're in the back... with Master Fionnlagh... You've... You've got to stop them..."

She shook his head. "All right," the ex-assassin confirmed, then she clenched her hand upon the man's right shoulder. "Hang on, okay? You're going to be fine, we're going to get through this..." Anabel then noticed something horribly wrong. "...Mister Oscar?"

Oscar's head had fallen to its side, his eyes soulless and faded of color. The sharp cries called his breath ceased all activity. Anabel then shook him, tears pouring down her face. "Mister Oscar...!" she frantically named.

Daevarro grabbed Anabel's right shoulder. "He's gone, Anabel," he sorrowfully informed her.

Anabel then sighed, placing her right hand upon the man's face. Her right index finger was then planted upon Oscar's right eyelid while her middle finger was put down upon his left. "Rest well, my friend." she mumbled to him, pulling her right hand down to close the lifeless man's eyes. Anabel then stood up to her feet, turning to the pathway leading to Fionnlagh's room. "C'mon, let's go."

Daevarro shook his head. "Right," he said, standing up to his feet. The two then boldly thrust themselves forward, plunging into the chaos and despair of what lies before them. With a set of stairs to their right and left, a pathway was in the between. This pathway led to a long hallway of purple banners marked by the dragon of the Resistance.

This hallway led to the most back room of the entire building, the commanding room. Through the thickening smoke that smothered their lungs and the smell of all that they worked for burning away, they rushed down this hallway and pass a door along the way. The two were able to hear a conversation being held. "—believe you would betray us -- we , your very own brethren -- for this trash." spoke the very familiar voice.

"I have my reasons," replied the other voice, which the two were able to confirm was the voice of Fionnlagh. Just in front of the door, the two once more gained the same thought at the same time. They both launched their feet forward at the closed door, bursting it wide open with a furious kick. The attention of everyone in the room was stripped, being pasted upon the two.

Fionnlagh was captured, his arms restrained by two knights in black-steel. His battered, bloodied face turned towards the door and his eyes widened. He seemed panicked, displeased by their appearance. Anabel quickly gripped her daggers, readying herself for a fight. "Mr. Fionnlagh!" she called.

"What are you two doing here?!" Fionnlagh shouted. "GET OUT OF HERE!"

Balor smiled, taking a step forward. His sword was firmly in his hand. "Well, well, well..." said Balor, spanning his arms out. "It's about time you both joined us! And here I was worried you were going to miss our... little visit."

With the memories and emotions filling his head, once more the rage overcame him. Daevarro quickly gripped his dagger, pulling it out. With it in hand, he charged forward as he let out a mighty roar. Anabel tried to keep him away, attempting to quickly grab his shoulder. But there was no chance she could hold him back, losing her grip.

With his dagger gripped in a reversed position, he bolted for Balor. But the king was prepared for him, readying to stab the young man. ...No, Fionnlagh couldn't have that. He couldn't bear the thought, losing another person on his watch. So, with all of his might, he pushed forward. With his strength, he managed to send the knights off balance. The knights staggered backwards, falling onto their knees. He broke free, ramming into Balor just as he made the move.

The Arbandor's path was then altered, just nicking the young man's left arm. Though the king staggered backwards, he only dropped to his knees. Daevarro clenched onto his new injury, gripping his teeth with pain. Anabel quickly dropped to her knees, sitting right next to Daevarro. "Daevarro!" she named with concern.

"Anabel," Fionnlagh's voice very quickly rushed forward. "I need you to take Daevarro and get out of here... NOW! " Anabel knew that the situation was impossibly grim for her commander, she knew that he intended to sacrifice himself. If this were true, then this would be the last she saw of him. She whimpered there, her mind blackened by the thought.

She hesitantly acknowledged her command, pausing there for a moment. With tears falling down her eyes, she grabbed Daevarro by the arm and yanked him up onto his feet. The two then bolted towards the door. One of the knights that held Fionnlagh quickly readied his blade to attack the two. Fionnlagh saw this move coming, being well on his way towards the knight.

He speared him down onto the ground before he could make a move. The two had fled, and Fionnlagh was right by the door. He stood up to his feet, seeing his spare blade that he always placed by the door. A good habit that he shared with others, one notably was Elena. He grabbed onto that blade, readying for a fight that he knew would be his last. "Come on!" he yelled.

One of the knights he sent staggering then charged for him, coming in with a slash that went left to right. Fionnlagh hopped slightly backwards, allowing the blade to just skirt by him. He then gave the knight the pommel of his blade, clenching onto the blade of his sword with his free hand and pounded the knight in the face with the bottom of his handle.

As the knight clenched his face in pain, Fionnlagh impaled his blade into the knight. The blade went clean through, blood spewed out from the injury. Fionnlagh then pulled his blade out and waited for the next one. But the next one was already here, slashing his blade down upon Fionnlagh's unarmoured body.

The knight's blade cut a wide path across Fionnlagh's back, making the white warrior yelp out a cry as he had to cope with the new pain. He dropped to his knees, his very own blood staining his shirt. But it would not be enough to break him. He got back up and swerved around, his light blue eyes beaming down upon the knight who just attacked him.

With the tight grimace that locked his face, Fionnlagh lunged his blade forward and impaled the knight. Kicking the knight down to pull out his blade, Fionnlagh turned his attention onto Balor. But another knight stood in his way, swinging his blade down upon Fionnlagh. The knight's sword came down upon Fionnlagh, who pulled his blade up and guarded against the knight.

Fionnlagh then kicked the knight's stomach, and his blade would fall right behind. Fionnlagh's blade fell down upon the knight's right side, right into his neck. But unbeknownst to Fionnlagh, a knight approached him from behind. And although his senses told him the danger came behind him... the story had ended.

The knight's sword impaled right through Fionnlagh's lower back, forcing his breath out of his lungs. He coughed out blood, he froze so still that he seemed like he no longer drew breath. The knight had pulled his blade out of Fionnlagh, and then watched as he crumbled down onto his knees. He held loosely the wound that he had suffered, gazing down upon the pain with disbelief.

He then fell down to his right side, his face couldn't determine what to express right around now. He just laid there, dumbfounded and unable to fathom what exactly had happened. Balor walked over to Fionnlagh very slowly, his eyes gazing down upon him. Fionnlagh never turned to return the favor, he just kept staring straight.

Balor seemed very frustrated, angered that it had to come to this. He was very displeased that one of his own had to be killed in this process. But alas, such as the nature of the beast. He stood over Fionnlagh who struggled to breath. But then, the glow of his eyes -- that faint but vibrant shine -- vanished. And after its disappearance, the man froze in both breathing and motion.

Balor then turned to his remaining knights. "Find the other two," he commanded. The knights all respectfully bow, rushing off to go find Daevarro and Anabel. The two had fled to the west wing, past the medic room, and into the kitchen.

Anabel opened a door in the kitchen, which was about the size of the average kitchen complete with a sink and counter-space. The two entered the room before them, Anabel then quickly closed the door behind her. This door she had open led to some storage space, almost a cellar of sorts. The room was forty feet both in length and width, but most of the space was consumed by barrels of ale and boxes of food.

Flames scorching all around them, Anabel quickly dropped down onto her knees. In front of her, there was a small purple rug with the seal of the Resistance upon it. She hastefully pushed the rug aside, revealing a cellar door. There was a lock upon it, craved into it a magic seal. She then quickly gripped the lock, a flash of purple light then shined all throughout the room. She then grasped her hand around the latch, pulling the trapdoor open. There was a ladder, going down about ten feet.

Daevarro then stood beside Anabel, looking down the same place she was. Anabel then stood up onto her feet, turning to Daevarro. She knew what she had to do. "Daevarro," she named quickly, anxiously. She then handed out the letter to him. "go to Lumbridge and give this letter to Master Raphael. Explain to him everything that has happened."

"...What?" he responded, understanding what it was that she was implying. He quickly shook his head. "No! I'm not going anywhere without you."

"If I don't stay, then the lock will remain unbound. That means that they are sure to follow us down." she explained. "They're much faster than us, Daevarro. They'll kill us."

"We'll find a way!" Daevarro angrily responded. "We'll... we'll hide! We'll run! We can figure out something!"

The two then began to hear the shouts of the soldiers who were looking for them. "We can't argue this anymore..." the ex-assassin stated. Anabel looked down, staring down at Daevarro's necklace. Her left hand then clenched onto the pendant. "You know... I may have only known you for such a short time. But I'm really glad that I got to meet you."

She then turned, quickly stepping away from Daevarro. She was now at Daevarro's left, he then began to turn and face her. "I'm sorry, Daevarro," she softly apologized. She then lunged her hands, they pounded against Daevarro's chest. The light-weight young man then began to tumble, being pushed down into the hole.

He fell, slowly and slowly coming closer to the ground. He looked up as he plummeted, watching Anabel allow the letter to follow along with him. The ex-assassin stared at Daevarro's shocked face as he fell down. She stared at him, smiling as tears rolling down her cheeks. Finally, reality snapped back into play as Daevarro's back hit the ground.

The letter fell down on his stomach. Though the young man was in pain, he quickly jolted to his feet. He gazed up at Anabel, she dropped down to her knees and gazed down at him. Daevarro's face was a sea of emotions, tidal waves crashing with every second. "Anabel, don't do this!" the dark-robed young man shouted, his voice a mess as it cracked. "Please! I'm begging you!"

Anabel continued to painfully smile, her tears ones that Daevarro could catch. "I'm sorry," she once again apologized. "but at least this way, one of us makes it out alive."

Just as she finished her words, she began to close the door. The door dropped close on Daevarro, leaving him to the darkness. "ANABEL!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. He then began to climb up the ladder, hearing the sound of the magic seal being bound to the door once more. Even with all of his might, the door would not budge. He began pounding at the door. "OPEN THE DOOR!"

"Go, Daevarro. Don't let everybody's sacrifices be in vain." he was able to hear her speak, though it was very muttered. "Move forward... stop looking back." Daevarro stood at a pause, still looking up at the wooden door with a questionable look on his face. He couldn't understand, his hand pulling away from the door.

He then climbed down the ladder, but at the last step he dropped from the ladder. He landed as if he were sitting down, his hands planted against the ground. He looked down, his eyes widened and his face as black as the robes that he wore. He sat there in the darkness, quivering with fear and disbelief. His eyes closed rather tightly and his teeth fastened together.

Tears began to pour from his eyes, the thought of the whole situation ripped his very core. Memories resurfaced in his head, similarities to people in his past... but one in particular. His heart ached, it had been stabbed by a knife of emptiness and sorrow several dozen times. He sat there, clenching his face as he bawled his eyes out.
