There was enough concern to warrant the attention of the clear boss of this operation, coming out from that small building at the corner of the platform. He was handed the telescope, being left just as oddly as all others. However, one thing was for sure, he didn't like it at all.

The time drew closer, the anxiety and build up beginning to grow stronger. Everyone could begin to make out figures moving on the platform's surface, hectically reacting to their nearing presence. The ears of those with Solasúian blood could make out the sense of alarm, shouts being launched and orders being issued all across the platform.

The enthusiastic captain Thaumas quickly noted the unusual set-up of the platform, bearing no pier to dock his ship, creating a nervous sweat upon his brow. Although it pained him to think it, it would seem he needed to use his exquisite ship as a beachhead if the battalion had any chance to invade.

Telvern, trying to stave off his dizzying aliment, realized the captain's strategy. He coolly reached into his bag at his waist-side, pulling out and ripping open one of his summoning pouches. From blueish-white flames beside him was a familiar beast given birth, the deadly, sharp-clawed Talon Beast appeared, ready for his command.

"Everyone, brace for impact!" Thaumas alertfully hollered, steering the ship straight towards the platform at full speed.

Hearing this warning yelled out, everyone readied their weapons and prepared themselves for combat. Knowing Raphael's order eventually to come, Daevarro's glowing hazel eyes did a sweep of the platform. He quickly, thoroughly examined the shape of every structure and every person on the platform, needing every detail to better the belief of his creation.

Raphael, ripping his sword Falcon from its scabbard, anticipated the crash of the ship onto the platform. It came a foot closer, another foot closer, another foot closer, until inevitably... "Now, Daevarro!" the silver-haired heir called out.

"Understood!" the dark-robed young man received, quickly closing his eyes. With haste did he focus, conjuring a huge bloom of shadow which spanned from the ship to all across the platform. But the light of the sun bled through, giving the massive shadow a smoke-like appearance.

The ship then thunderously smashed into the platform, a violent impact which jolted those upon it, even sending some into the deep blue below. Absorbing the shock of the crash, the group began to scatter, taking whatever method they saw fit to disembark. Daevarro's smokescreen had blanketed the area, causing widespread panic among the fold.

The soldiers shuffled their heads in the confusion. "What's going on?!" anxiously yelled one fellow. "What is this!?"

In the midst of his bemusement, this fellow dressed in the practical coat was suddenly approached. Appearing out of nowhere was Raphael, sword in the middle of an attack. He had studied each individual just before the collision, remembering their general location. Raphael expected to find himself staring at a god, but what he got... Much to his grief, his eyes were green and without a glow, implying that he was not a god, but a man. Not a soldier even, but a worker of sorts.

The man uttered one sharp gasp as Raphael appeared, seeing then as the glint of his blade came thrusting forward. Falcon bore a clean hole straight through him, impaling above the man's heart. A merciful end, one of which Raphael swiftly administered. His victim's last breath upon this world marking the start of this battle, the chaos beginning to ensue.

The once enthusiastic captain Thaumas was now deprived of all positive energy as the havoc began in earnest, his mind more occupied with concern that his ship had possibly taken damage than his or anyone's safety. He quickly threw down anchor and checked on his baby, finding only superficial damage. He then cowered, taking shelter inside of an emptied out crate.

The group quickly worked their way across the platform, catching several off-guard with a sudden ambush. The hectic sound of steel colliding shot through the air, inducing fear into those who had yet found anyone. One such man, a fellow dressed fully that unusual blueish-white garb, tried to tread carefully. At the corner of his eyes, however, he saw motion, prompting him to take a defensive position.

He saw then the face of a person he didn't recognize, forcing his hand to take immediate action. Raphael was that person, in the middle of a big swing. But the soldier could read this attack like an open book, easily evading the attack and launching a counter-offensive. But something completely unexpected occurred, as the moment his axe came down upon Raphael, Raphael just vanished.

His image dispersed into a strange black wispy mist, which then disappeared into nothingness. The soldier was utterly dazed, knowing not what to make of this sorcery. No, 'sorcery' was incorrect, he knew what sorcery looked like. But this was not sorcery at all, this was... unknown.

But that was when this soldier received a far greater, deadlier surprise from behind. It felt it was it burrowed its way through the back of his head, chewing through his flesh. A stiff-bladed dagger would be the instrument of his death, and Kereske the conductor of his dirge.

The merchant-turned-assassin's dagger severed the top of his target's spinal cord, a quick, decisive blow which mercifully ceased the soldier's life. He was certain to have killed a god, yet this was not a god's life he stole. A truth he very rapidly grew aware of, a truth he tried his very best to swallow as calmly as he could.

But this was a truth that all of his comrades soon found themselves facing, for each life they stole possessed eyes without a glow, not even a glimmer. No, it wasn't gods they were killing, they were killing only humans. Each and every single kill was the same, over and over, stealing the life of a soul undeserving. It was a difficult thought to process, taking the life of a person they wished to save.

Daevarro's shadow creations wrought several distractions, a crucial weapon the young man's capabilities had become, although it certainly made it impossible for archers Shinon and Shakir. Yet for those who took to close quarters combat, they made them practically glide across the battlefield. Those native to the platform attempted to restore calm in the chaos. They had to if they had any hope of survival. Some of them rallied together, huddling closely as they formulated a plot to rid themselves of this smokescreen.

This group was quite the mixed bag, from soldiers to mere workers who were handed steel only to defend themselves. Their ears could make out the sound of their comrades getting lost in their panic and fear, their death cries then filling the atmosphere as they were helplessly slaughtered. "Band together!" called out one among them, a woman lightly armoured in that odd blueish-white garb. "We can do nothing if we are separated!"

That woman who sought harmony in this anarchy then turned to her left, her brown eyes locating an older man. He looked very sophisticated, wearing a long, teal blue, very loose-fitting robe which bore a pale yellow embroidery of complex designs. Upon his head, he wore a very traditional hat worn by mages of all kind: a tall, wide-brimmed pointed hat.

"Wisened Artuin, what is this...?" that woman then asked this sophisticated man.

"I'm... not certain," that man named Artuin replied, stumped and gawking. "It resembles something straight from the Ancient Magicks, yet I cannot discern its exact nature. To my understanding, it doesn't even seem to possess any magical qualities at all. Fascinating."

"Can you get rid of it?"

Upon the woman's request, this man named Artuin held his hand out. Winds then gathered at his side, mighty gusts which enrobed him and his group. Like a tornado of blades at work, cutting through and clearing the smokescreen from around their vicinity. They were granted eyes to see, an ability to which they exploited to the fullest extent.

Their legs grew with mobility, carefully treading through the bleak unknown. Yet from the space they could not see, their ears began to absorb the snarls of a beast lurking. From the foggy depths, Telvern's Talon Beast pierced through and pounced upon its next prey. Its front paws hitting that woman square in the chest, the power and weight of its body overcoming her, forcing her to the ground.

Her back slammed hard into the wooden boards below, trying desperately to fight off the beast. Its vicious set of teeth clamping down, preparing its jaw for the inevitable. A violent burst of heat would be doused upon it, setting its fur on fire and searing its skin. But even that wasn't enough to stop it, heeding well the command of its summoner.

Its strength breaking through the woman's struggle, its teeth digging into her throat. The wizard Artuin was angrily shocked by the Talon Beast's lack of reaction, his eyes watching as it ripped out the trachea of his comrade. "No!" he furiously, futilely shouted.

As the blood of his comrade ran into the sea, all hands charged at the beast. But in their haste, they lost eyes upon the environment, far too absorbed in their now hopeless attempt to rescue their friend. The wizard Artuin then heard chilling grunts and gasps to his left, ripping his gaze backwards.

His amber gaze then stared emotionally startled, finding his nearest ally had been struck down in cold blood. A dagger was fitted precisely, repeatedly beneath his arm. He fell, bleeding profusely, and revealed his attacker to be Telvern Thaddeus.

The genius was able to make out a small portion of the world now, yet so much as the sight of water made him feel unusually uncomfortable. He began to feel dizzy once more, adding to his seaborne malady. But he bore with it, stepping forward, drawing the attention of the enemy.

It was then that the wizard named Artuin heard yet another painful grunt, forcing his gaze back. Another of his allies upon his knees, an arrow had pierced the right side of his back. The wizard's allies became like target practice for a pair of archers, their arrows striking them one-by-one. Fortunate for them that the wizard Artuin had cleared this area of Daevarro's smoke, or else they'd not be of any use at all in this fight.

In his position, Shinon bore a face of pure arrogance as he unleashed death upon his targets, joyously keeping track of his kill count. Shakir, who stood right beside him, remained reserved and accurate, though he cursed his luck that it just had to be Telvern who strategically drew them out.

Their prey scattered in a tremendous panic, feeling the squeeze of Telvern, his Talon Beast, and the archers. The pressure was too great, the wizard Artuin firmly believed, calling for options not ordinarily considered. He then raised his right hand out in front of him, hurling an irregularly shaped ball of flames straight at the archers.

With a nimble, expertly-timed roll, all the archers felt of that fireball was its heat as it passed them. They quickly returned their bows onto the wizard, but he had gone into a frantic full sprint upon launching that fireball. Telvern was in perfect position to stop him, but the second his eyes skirted across the water, he was struck by a terrible barrage of feelings.

His hands trembled, his vision doubled, his pulse became terribly erratic, his knees shook and buckled beneath him, forcing him to collapse onto them. This left Artuin an opening, able to rush right past Telvern with bare opposition. He nearly tripped on his way back into the realm of shadowy smoke, taking advantage of its obscuring effects. The archers watched him helplessly as he disappeared, frustrated and infuriated with this fortunate turn of events for the wizard.

Yet others native to the platform were not so fortunate, getting slaughtered without knowing who stole their life. Another small spot in the smoke was eliminated, for another wizard had the same idea as Artuin. She was a woman dressed much alike the others, dressed in a light armour and clothed in that strange, ornate, blueish-white garb.

With a flick of her wrist, she cast away the fog from around her. Her chocolate brown eyes sharply scanning her environment, until her ears caught the sound of footsteps racing her way. She turned to his right, lifting up her longsword in a defensive stance.

As she expected, a sword collided with the steel of her sword, absorbing the impact. The one to find her was Malik, his rusty brown eyes staring into yet another pair of eyes without a shine. The soldier was rather startled by Malik's appearance, also taking note of the lack of glow within his eyes. "A human?" she realized. "Did Silas send you?"

"Indeed," Malik calmly confirmed.

"What are you doing?" the soldier then asked. "You've no need to continue to do his bidding, to obey his command. Tell your allies to lay down their arms and surrender. This is a battle that neither of us should be fighting!"

"I'm afraid I can't do that."

"...Why?"

"Because this is something we must do," Malik spoke with a burdened tone, launching his right foot forward. His terribly weathered leather boots bashed straight into the abdomen of the soldier, sending her staggering off backwards. The old master then took advantage of this opportunity presented to him, but she quickly managed to defend herself. She lunged her hand ahead of her, spewing from her palm was something like a spear of water which flew with fearsome ferocity.

Malik barely had time to react, stepping off to the side as quick as his legs would let him. The aqua spear pierced straight through his right arm with little effort, but his quick reaction spared his life. He was left with a really bad flesh wound at best, but it was completely unexpected, agonizing Malik.

The soldier sighed with annoyance, readying her sword to play the role of executioner. She gazed with harsh judge upon the old master, but that was when it suddenly faded into darkness. The ring pommel of a sword finding the back of her head, a strike like an electric pulsewave scattered all across her nerves and overrode her consciousness.

Her body toppled, deafening the air briefly with the rattling of her chainmail and the thunderous crash of her armour. Her attacker appearing just behind her, a most recently pacified Libitina revealed. She then turned her red eyes ahead of her, finding the injured Malik. Even in the midst of the battle, Libitina took the time to gaze upon Malik and grace him with a smile, reaching her hand to him.

The old master then looked up and smiled back at her like they were old friends. He made no hesitation in accepting her offer, taking hold of her hand. She plucked him from the ground, helping him stand on his own two feet again. After the assist, the two raced back into the fray together, becoming embraced in the smoke and chaos of battle.

It seemed the battle was drawing closer to its climax, for the sounds of battle had begun to die. But in reality, the true battle had yet begun. Raphael himself traversed this fog like a natural habitat, bringing death to many. Yet his heart grew more and more despondent, for his blade had passed through only the flesh of humans. It would seem they were misled, handed a false truth spun from the machine of a ruthless ruler.

But the prince continued without pause, his resolution and resolve far too great to be worn thin. He came across two other souls, catching them off-guard. Raphael suddenly sprung out from the shadowy smoke, launching his sword horizontally.

A sharp gasp bore into the air, growing steadily silent. One of those workers hectically pulled his eyes ahead of him, only to watch to the splattering of his friend's blood coat the wood below. Raphael's sword cleaved open the woman's abdomen, an evisceration which the female worker watched in utter horror. Each and every organ in her gut quickly gushed outwards, seeping out of her body and cascading before her very feet.

Without cessation, Raphael honed his stern gaze onto the next in line. The heir threw a downward strike, the horrified worker quickly remembering that he had to block. This very last second guard knocked the worker off-balance, opening an alluring opportunity. Raphael quickly stepped forward, aggressively swinging his blade at the worker.

The man coiled up in a desperate defensive position as if a turtle under attack, becoming assaulted by a brutal onslaught. But something would push Raphael away, an overwhelming force of air smashed into his right side and sent him flying as though a javelin from a knight's hand. This immense current of air clearing a straight line from Raphael to the hand which launched it, unveiling another soldier in that light armour and blueish-white garb.

Raphael was sent several feet from his previous position, thundering down violently upon his left side. The force of the impact enough to flip him around, laying now uncomfortably close to the platform's edge. In the aftermath, Raphael's face became locked in a terrible grimace. He gripped his left arm which dangled limb and lifeless, feeling it broken and throb with tremendous pain.

Still, pain was nothing new to Raphael. In fact, he had become disturbingly acquainted with it in his brief time fighting in the Resistance. He did what he could to cope with it, slowly but surely managing to his feet. His eyes vindictively beamed into the image of the spellsword soldier who took him out, swapping his sword to his off-hand. Quite a difficult obstacle to overcome, the power of a magic user was one that Raphael would not underestimate anytime in the future.

Yet even with that in mind, Raphael steeled himself and bolted forward, curling his left arm up in a protective manner. He was steadfast in his advance, observing as the soldier had begun to prepare another spell to hurl at the silver-haired invader. Still, Raphael was fearless, closing the distance.

Given the opportunity, that worker whom Raphael was originally attacking did not hesitate to make a break for it. He wasn't a soldier, he didn't know how to fight, having this sword at his hip was more a show than an actual threat. He ran away in a panic, an act which Raphael did not challenge. No, if anything, he was more relieved.

The soldier raised his off-hand towards Raphael, birthing a moderately sized, jagged spike of rock from his hand. Going for a kill rather than playing defensive with air magic, the soldier aimed high and lobbed this half-javelin stone at Raphael's head. Raphael, calmly assessing the situation, realized the high trajectory of this spell. He quickly dropped to the ground, sliding beneath the spell thrown his way.
