Chapter XVII
Gregory met Lucien in his own citadel, and Lucien congratulated him on his success.

“You have done enormously well Gregory, and have increased the power of Zamorak greatly.”

“I have my doubts. Lucien, the mage at the altar of Zamorak in Varrock claimed the altar really was that of Zamorak, and also said he had been told by Zamorak to kill me. Two things worry me. One, that mage knew the altar well and said it was still that of Zamorak. Two, if Zamorak told the mage to kill me because of the destruction of the altar, it must be that of Zamorak!”

“Saradomin could have easily told the mage himself. You can*t assume that what people say is true. They could be easily lying or just mistaken.”

“Another thing. How did the gods know I was coming anyway?”

“Gods are gods. They can catch anything if they are paying attention.”

“So I am likely to be killed next time I go, due to the fact that they knew my power now.*

*No. They can sense power, but if you are stealthy they can*t sense who the power is unless they see you personally.”

“Still. It is too dangerous for my liking.”

***************************************************************************

Gregory had moved back to building up his citadel again. He hired about 100 men to build a wall, eight yards thick and twenty yards tall, with a gate ten yards wide and fifteen yards tall. He built it circular, unlike the tower, but made sure it was perfectly even all around the tower. There were stairs going up the walls, and portals on the ground that could be teleported to from any other portal in the citadel.

While this was being built, Gregory set to work making an army to keep here. He made hundreds upon hundreds of undead demons, skeletons, and mages. He made them all of the highest quality possible at his power level, taking a lot of time, and making a huge toll on him. He could only summon about 100 creatures a day without passing out from exhaustion.

This may seem slow, but he made each one so powerful, that each could even make Lucien have to stop and spend time destroying it, instead of just randomly casting a surge of power in its direction. He made skeleton mages, with black robes, that cast a ball of purple power to disintegrate whatever they hit. He made undead armoured greater demons to fight with melee. He also made skeleton rangers to fire from the windows and walls.

He created 2400 undead mithril dragons, to shoot their dragonbreath from the windows. You see, there were 60 floors, and each floor had four sides, and each side had 10 windows. One mithril dragon stood at each window of the entire citadel, and could shoot fire out of it. Each floor had 50 undead armoured greater demons guarding the staircases and portals, and 2 skeleton rangers with 2 skeleton magers for each window. This was 80 rangers and 80 magers per floor, and 4800 rangers and 4800 magers total in the citadel.

Also he had 20 dragons, 400 undead armoured greater demons, 400 skeleton magers, and 200 skeleton rangers for the walls outside the citadel. In addition, he dug down another 87 floors down under the citadel, moving the prison room to the bottom, and putting portals all over each floor. As the dungeon went down, each floor was larger then the last, until the floor at the very bottom was more than 200 yards long on each side.

He prepared to fill all of these underground dungeons with undead creatures, and fill his citadel with unthinkable power, because then he would be utterly invincible. He cast his spell of access on each and every one of these creatures, and all of them could travel through the portals.

The throne floor at the top had 200 undead armoured demons, 400 skeleton archers, 400 skeleton magers, and 40 mithril dragons. The archers, mages, and dragons could easily shoot down and release even more devastation.

This work mentioned above was done over about 7 months, and at the end of that time he prepared to go back to Lucien to see what altars he should destroy next.

Chapter XVIII
Lucien was in his base, conversing with his top officials and advisors.

“He is simply too powerful. I must stop him. I cannot attack him outright, because my army is far, far too weak to face his. I cannot fight him myself either, because he has grown in power to the extent that he could graetly weaken me himself, and with the aid of his summoned creatures he could almost defeat me.”

“But, if I may say so master, you do have things in your favor still. He is still fooled by your whole Saradomin evil Zamorak good farce, and in addition he is still going to destroy more altars to increase your power. Then you can destroy him and work toward overthrowing Zamorak again.”

“Don’t you understand? My entire goal was to use him to get more power. He would destroy altars for me then I could destroy him on the spot. But no, he has gained so much power that now when I destroy him, I will be WEAKER than I was before. I will lose from my investment instead of gain.”

“But what about the Stone of Jas? Surely that fool of an adventurer that you met while getting the Staff of Armadyl will also manage to get the Stone of Jas. That will multiply your power a hundredfold.”

“No. My loss will still be greater then my gain. Oh, that I had not told him Zamorak was good! Now I have no hope of getting him to help me against Zamorak, instead of thinking he must help Zamorak.”

Meanwhile, Gregory had just teleported to Lucien’s base, and on his way to the meeting room. Just as he was about to knock, he stopped outside the door and listened.

“Stop speaking! We only have one hope. I must trick that idiotic young Gregory into thinking that Zamorak has gone from good to evil, and that Saradomin has stayed evil. So far he has not learned that Saradomin is good, so he will probably believe it. In addition, I have made sure that every time a Saradomist has attempted to tell him the truth, they have been killed. I have it in hand, and if we keep doing as we have been, I will eventually rule the world. Meeting adjourned.”

Hearing this, Gregory ran away through the hall and back to the teleport site. He then asked a Black Knight to ask Lucien if he could speak with him. The knight left, and Lucien himself came back.

“Hello Gregory! How glad I am to see you again. I have another assignment.”

“Wait, I need to speak with you. What of Zamorak? I have not had any communication from him myself, so I am not sure if you are really in allegiance with him.”

“Well, you will be surprised to hear this, but Zamorak has actually changed his alignment. He was originally for good, but recently Saradomin convinced him to switch sides. That is why I was so glad to see you. I needed to tell you about it.”

“Well then, what is my next target?”

“Go to Camelot and destroy the chapel there, then head to Ardougne and destroy the altar there. Finally teleport to Falador and destroy the altar in their palace.”

“Very well I shall.” Gregory teleported, then considered. “I now know that Saradomin is good, Zamorak I am not sure, but I definitely know now that Lucien has no alignment. He just wants power for himself. I will destroy the three altars he named so that I can keep his trust for now, but I will turn on him soon.”

Gregory stood in Camelot. Nothing there to worry about. Remembering his past experiences with assassins he treaded carefully. He walked into the chapel uneventfully. We walked past the people cutting the yew trees outside and easily decimated the altar in the name of Lucien. The woodcutters ran screaming, amazed that anyone would destroy the altar. As he walked out of the church, the earth quaked and all of the Knights of the Round Table appeared out of nowhere. Merlin cast a teleblock on him, and the knights charged.

His first move was to cast a huge shadow spell, enshrouding all of Seer’s village in darkness. Merlin struck up a blaze of fire in his hand, giving the knights enough light to see Gregory. Realizing he would not be able to escape that way, Gregory cast smoke barrage at the knights, blinding them, and then started trying to possess the knights’ minds. The knights resisted heroically, and as they all had very strong intellects and wills, he struggled trying to take them under control.

However he underestimated Merlin. Merlin started to try and control Gregory’s mind, and at the same time cast fire surge at him. Gregory ceased in his attempt to control the knights’ minds and only fought Merlin. As the knights regained their sight, Gregory had to cast blood spells at them unceasingly to heal himself while they were hacking at his robes with their swords.

Gregory was struggling. Merlin was working at his mind heavily, with his eyes closed and only keeping the light on so the knights could continue fighting. Realizing his only hope of winning was to get Merlin out of the fight, Gregory cast a very large water spell at Merlin. This instantly put Merlin’s fire out, blinding the knights again, and completely putting Merlin out of countenance and composure. Gregory cast an earth spell to throw them all out of his way, and then summoned a small earthquake to put them all off balance. The splash of water had put Merlin’s mind out of concentration, freeing Gregory from that difficult influence.

“Get off me or you will die!!” Gregory roared, attempting to throw the knights off and escape. He walked menacingly toward Merlin, casting barrage after barrage of spells at him. Merlin put up a magical barrier shield to protect himself, but could not fight back while Gregory was attacking. All this time, Gregory’s shadow spell, which had made the clear day seem like night, was fading.

Suddenly, Gregory saw clear as day King Arthur charging straight at him. How was he visible? Was not the shadow spell working? He looked around and saw all of the seers with their eyes closed, with their hands up to the sky. They were summoning away the darkness! Gregory groaned, and finally went to his last resort.

He summoned ten heavily armoured, 12 foot tall demons to occupy the knights. As King Arthur came closer, he cast an earth spell and an ice spell at him. King Arthur heroically shrugged off the pain from getting battered by a barrage of rocks, but kept charging. As the ice spell froze and stopped the King, Gregory turned to see Merlin closing his eyes deeply and making a pained look.

“I had hoped it would not come to this, but if I must, I must.” As Merlin said this, he summoned fifteen water titans into the fray. These titans could cast a surge of water, and could also pick up and throw enemies. Gregory wearily summoned another fifteen armoured demons, as well as five mithril dragons. He was fairly dropping with exhaustion, not having done so many spells or so much fighting all his life.

He looked to the side, and saw with dismay that the knights were skillfully climbing up the demons legs and torso, then impaling their spine and crushing their skull. Then he had a realization. It had been quite a while since the beginning of the fight... and maybe he could teleport! He attempted, and was successful.

He teleported straight to Ardougne, happy to have escaped that difficult fight. Here there also seemed to be little opposition. The merchants from the time he asked for the merchant’s house location eyed him suspiciously, but he walked to the altar without opposition. He prepared to teleport at any moment so that he would not get teleblocked again. When he opened the door, he saw a few men.
