Gregory's next step was obvious. Earth. He thought of using the same tactics as he did with fire and water. Touching it. Making the earth used to him, and his body to the earth.

Just as he did with the water, he covered himself in it. That was the filthiest element he would ever encounter, and he wanted to get it over with. He was constantly hoping that no person would see him in this state as they would probably chase him to the hills as a wildman. Over eight months time, Gregory finally managed to be able to shoot an avalanche of rocks and earth in any direction he wished, and glad to be done with the filthy element, he walked to the river, dipped in his hand, and blew all the dirt on him to kingdom come with the water pouring from his hands.

Walking back to his camp, he blew a tree over, burst it into flames, and sat inside the bonfire until he and his clothes were dry. He then put it out so as to preserve the ancient forest, and sat down to ponder.

Then he thought, maybe I should learn how to make an earthquake… hmmm... He spent another 5 months learning how to do this by becoming more and more intimate with the earth by learning how to move the ground below him, and by the end of that time, he could create a big enough earthquake to make the walls of a city crack.

Chapter VI
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What should he do next? As all of the spells in the spellbook came from something, there
must be some way to do the other types of spells without runes. Teleportation and
enchantment had to come from somewhere. Then he remembered his trance. He had
hypnotized the beaver into walking into the flames. How could he do that?
He began by trying to put his mind into another creature. He tried it with a rabbit. As he
stroked it in his lap, (he had regained the trust of the animals after the trance which scared
them) he tried putting his mind into the rabbit. After attempting for a few hours, found
himself drained and tired, as mind possession drains the wizards ability to think. He tried
this for two months, and finally managed to get the rabbit to jump, walk, eat, and of
course cuddle at will.
He could command it! It did whatever he thought for it to do, and so he literally had
possession of it. But he realized that he did not have the ability to do it with all
creatures. The rabbit had a weak will, so he could command it with ease. But
creatures with strong wills, such as humans, would be more difficult to possess.
Therefore he studied and practiced with stronger and stronger wills for two whole years,
and by the end of that time, he could possess the will of a bear, and possibly a human. But
he wanted to try it first.
Gregory was 19 years old. He had been practicing his magic for 8 years, and now, was finally going to test himself. He walked toward the barbarian village, and on the way pondered what he would do. As he reached the outskirts of the village, he thought he would try and possess the mind of a nearby guard, to see if he could.
He exerted his mind, and he could see the poor barbarian struggling. Then, he did it. He had taken the mind of a human! He immediately let the poor man go as he had no intention of doing anything to him, and then sat behind a tree and thought. He looked down at himself, and realized that he was wearing rags. He had not obtained a new set of clothes for the entire 6 years of absence, although he was about 20 inches taller. He looked ridiculous.
“So," he thought, “I will go and demand that the village give me 2k to buy me some clothes, and then pay them later. If they refuse, so much the better.” Chuckling to himself, he walked straight into the village. As the barbarians all looked at him humorously, he demanded in a loud voice,
“I want you villagers to pay me two thousand coins total, or else I will give you great pain.” At this, all of the villagers snickered and several laughed out loud. Gregory dramatically raised his hands, and the barbarians’ smiles vanished as they saw a massive storm come whirling towards the village, and the River Lum flooding rapidly.
He started a huge earthquake, and at that, the villagers gladly offered him 15k from their leader’s treasury, and sent him on his way. He immediately conjured away all the doom which was about to turn the village into a pile of rubble, and went on his way to Varrock.
Gregory entered Thessalia’s shop, and bought himself some rich and beautiful clothes. He did not really care how well he looked, but he thought it becoming for a mage to look like one.
He also bought some working clothes to use when he was practicing his magic skills. He then went back to his home in the woods, the barbarians not recognizing him when he passed through again. He sat down again, and pondered as he had done so many times. He decided to discover how to teleport. He thought setting his mind on the location that he was to teleport would work, and he did so.
He spent 2 months without getting any closer, but then thought that he might be able to enchant an item that could help him teleport. He abandoned teleportation for the time, and began enchantment. “Gems have magical properties, and they can be used to give items magical properties. I should use gems to do this,” he said to himself.
He went back to Varrock to bargain with a gem seller. Buying 25 gems of assorted types with the money he had left, he ran back to his camp. He held them in his hands thinking about how to enchant them. This was unlike any other type of magic he had done as he had commanded other elements only by being exposed to them. He thought, “How do mages with runes enchant?
What do they do or say?* Then it hit him. “They use words! They use magical words and movements to do it. It is the same as in teleportation.” Therefore he headed to Varrock again to go to the librarian and ask him if he had any good books with spells or enchantments in them.
When he arrived at the palace, the guards looked him up and down and decided he looked important enough to go in. Nodding his head politely to the knights and councilors inside, he walked straight to the library.
“Hello!” he said. The librarian looked him up and down and asked,
“Do I know you? You seem familiar but I can’t place you.”
“Remember that young boy, Gregory that used to come in and read?”
“Yes! Yes of course. I can’t believe I did*’t recognize you. Feel welcome to read to your heart’s content.”
He smiled and went on with his duties. Gregory sifted through the books and when he found one about enchantments, he sat down and began reading.
*******************************************************************************
Four hours later, he got up and said,
“Thank you for letting me read here, and may I come tomorrow?”
“Of course! feel welcome, and I’ll expect you tomorrow.” The old librarian smiled, and Gregory walked back to his home in the woods. He came to the library every day for 5 weeks, staying many hours every day and searching endlessly for his goal.
At the end of five weeks, he finally found a book of interest. He read through it furiously and finally, finally! found what he had been looking for. It had the enchantment words for every type of gem, told the magical properties of every gem, and encouraged the mixing of different gems to get special magical properties. He then thought,
“Ok. I have the enchantment words, but I need the equivalent of the runes. Enchantment spells need cosmic runes in the enchantment. How can I get that kind of power?
Chapter VII
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gregory thought about his problem for a long, long time. He knew he had to get access
to the stars somehow, but he did*’t know how to do it. Then he had an idea. He
realized that stars sometimes fall on Runescape, and adventurers frequently mine them open
to get rewards. Therefore he decided to find one. He walked to Varrock and went to the
house of a rich man. He asked,

“Excuse me sir, but would you happen to have a telescope in your house?”

The man answered, “Yes I do, but I am not willing to let you use it as you could easily damage
it.”

“I promise I’ll be very careful, and if I do break it I’ll make sure to pay for the damage done.”

“Very well then, but if you so much as scratch it without paying for it, then I’ll have the law
on you!”

Gregory walked up to the telescope with the man’s careful eye upon him, and looked through.
He saw a star, and it looked like it was going to fall in the lands north of Falador. He
thanked the man, and rushed towards where he thought it was going to fall.

He managed to find it eventually and also got there before any adventurers. He then
wondered how to open it. He had never trained mining during his years of life in his forest,
and finally concluded that he could open it using his earth power.

He raised up his hands and cast a surge of boulders at the rock. After the dust cleared, he saw there was still some rock left undamaged. He swept the debris off with water, and cast a smaller barrage at the rock, so as not to hurt the sprite. He eventually managed to open it up, and the sprite, frightened at such a noisy opening of his star, said,

“Thank you for getting me out of there! I’ll reward you with coins, astral, and cosmic runes, and then go back up to the sky.

“Wait! I don’t want money or runes. I want knowledge. I need to learn how to manipulate cosmic power without runes. Can you help me?” The sprite was surprised.

“A human, not wanting money or runes? Unthinkable! Well, just because you seem to be a unique human, I’ll give you what you want. Here, take this stardust. You can rub it in your hands and gradually gain cosmic power. Runes would be much faster, but if you want the stardust you can use it instead.”

After thanking the star sprite profusely over and over again, Gregory ran back to his camp in the woods to do what he could best, concentrate, learn, and grow in power.

After 3 months of using the stardust given by the star sprite, Gregory judged that he had full cosmic power. He could enchant anything now with ease, as he had infinite water, earth, fire, air, and cosmic power.

Any gem was easy to enchant. So now he went back a step. He thought about the reason for him starting enchantment training in the first place. Teleportation! What a difficult concept. The only thing he could think of was becoming a judge and soaking in the law, but that sounded silly.

No, he needed to make his own teleports. He thought upon his original idea of making a spell out of gems, which would then allow him to teleport wherever the gems were. He then contemplated a few other things. What about alchemy? What if he could make gold out of his hands! Then he thought back to the small manuscript he had read all those years ago.

"And as we trained and studied, our powers grew stronger and more unbelievable... I saw men moving objects with just the power of their mind, others turning useless items into the purest gold!”

Chapter VIII ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He could do it! He knew he could! Alchemy spells took fire and nature runes and... He
realized something. He had gotten all his powers though nature. He had been part of nature
for the last decade and more.

He must already have the power of nature infused into him. He picked up a small rock. Slowly,
almost unwillingly he willed for it to become a handful of coins. He saw it slowly, ever so
slowly get a yellow tinge. It started to gleam. Then it broke into pieces and what was a small
rock a minute ago was a pile of coins!

He threw the contents of his hand far into the air and cried out in amazement! He could
alchemize at will! But quickly the more practical side of him gained weight. A small rock
had taken over a minute for him to alchemize. He needed to be able to alchemize faster
if it would be of any use. He then did what was natural to him. Practice. Practice. Practice.

By the end of two weeks he had utterly mastered alchemization. It was fairly
straightforward. In other skills he had been obliged to absorb in himself the powers of nature.
In this case all he had to do was repeat it over and over.

As you can imagine, by the time he was done alchemizing, he had over a hundred thousand
coins. He then decided to head to Barbarian Village and pay off his debt. On the way there,
he impulsively turned a whole tree in the middle of the road into gold, chuckling to
himself as he imagined what the next person’s reaction would be.

When he arrived at the village, he gave the villagers 30k in gold as recompense for the delay,
and walked through toward Varrock, leaving the villagers staring at each other in
disbelief. They never expected to get their money back.

He walked into Varrock, bought some general supplies, and headed straight back to his camp. Sure enough, there was a large hole where the alchemized tree had been, and he laughed wholeheartedly.

Then he had an idea. He could get a lot of mind-controlling exercise using a tree as bait. He had trained it before, and managed to control a person’s mind before, but he wanted to get really good at it so he could control many people at once and with absolute precision.

He alchemized another tree near the forest, and waited, hiding inside the forest but still where he could see the golden tree. After roughly ten minutes of waiting, a man walked by. He looked, looked away, stared again, and practically screamed from amazement. He walked up to the tree to touch it, but just as his hand was an inch away, Gregory took control.

The man stared bewilderedly. He couldn’t move towards the tree. He wondered amazedly why he couldn’t touch it. You see, although Gregory had command of his body, the man’s mind was still his as Gregory had not chosen to possess it. The poor man strained with all his willpower to walk toward the tree, but instead he walked toward Barbarian Village. Gregory followed, chortling under his breath. When the poor man reached the village, Gregory released his hold and the man ran forward screaming.
